Is it just me, or are a lot of ideas for the Dasati (not to mention their name) sort of liberally pilfered from Frank Herbert's The Dosadi Experiment, and a lot of the stuff for Valko and his mom taken from Herbert's Dune?

I know the Dune only from the movies and series, yes indeed there are some similarities.
