Liberty's Edge

Thel makes his way over to the room across the hall and listening at the door finds it to be rather quiet. This wasn't one of the rooms that Bengal heard noises from earlier and it still seems to be silent inside.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Will wait for the party, and once they're assembled in the hallway, will suggest the same strategy for opening the last door.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun moves close to Bengal and whispers ”If we’re going to rush in the next room, perhaps you should work the door. You have a softer touch than these grizzled hands can manage.”

He crosses the hallway to stand next to the door, pausing only to look down the north passage for any signs of approach, or change in the stonework.

( Kolgun get’s a passive perception check @ +2, he’s interested in stonework and is always looking out for change in craftsmanship, traps, etc. . .)

Liberty's Edge

I'll keep that in mind, Kol and will roll for it when you hit a spot that the carving of the walls or stonework may be different somehow. A lot of this area though looks very poorly crafted though, with a lot of natural stone showing through and stone slaps that are crudely mortared together.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel steps aside for someone more quieter than he is. "Sure hope we find something more than a pile of grimy coins in here..."

Pulls out both daggers, readying himself for another fight.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She chuckles and looks to the dwarf, "Yes, I may have a quieter hand, but I work best at attacking when I can surprise the enemy." She smiles and looks to the gnome, "It might be best for you to open the door friend."

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Actually Bengal, that's probably the best plan. I'm not one for rushing head-first into danger like a maniac, so staying behind would be best." Looks amusedly at the feline "However, just be careful about what you do in there. Remember, 'Curiosity killed the cat' well, Tibit in this case, but the point remains. Just don't get in over your head, I like not being the shortest one here."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She chuckles at the gnome, "Us cats can take care of ourselves, because while curiosity may kill the cat, satisfaction brought it back."

Liberty's Edge

Just because there isn't anything worth getting too worked up over here, I'm just going to post for the Gnome opening the door since it looks like he got volunteered, assuming everyone else would have gotten into position around it and been ready to strike.

Pulling open the room reveals a room much like the previous one, though it is wider then it is long. Ringing the chamber are eight crude beds with straw mattresses that seem to be partially rotting from mis-care and crusted in places with filth.

The chamber is currently empty, though while it obviously hasn't seen much care in some time it appears to have regular use from the amount of fresh footprints in the dusty floor.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal steps inside the room, looking around to see if she can find anything of interest.

Perception: 1d20+7=23

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Will stay in the hallway, keeping his eyes and ears open...

Perception 1d20+1=16

Kolgun exits the room and watches the hallway for any signs of trouble. Keeping his eyes on the stairway, he lets his darkvision do the work.

He remains still until his friends are ready to move on.

Liberty's Edge

Much to the likely disappointment of Thel, when Bengal does a quick search of the room she uncovers a longbow in reasonable condition, 9 arrows, and 9 copper scattered under one of the beds, but there doesn't seem to be two much else in the room of interest.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel's waiting for the 'good stuff'...gems, veins of gold, the riches which are rumored to be down here. :P

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She motions for the others to come in, "There are a few things here, but nothing incredibly valuable."

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun steps around the room, checking the stonework for any signs of hidden doors or loose stones that might be hiding anything . . .

Perception plus Stonecunning (1d20+5=23)

Edited to adjust for reaction to spoiler

Liberty's Edge

Kolgun

Spoiler:
Kolgun looks around the room for any changes in the architecture he doesn't find anything of interest, however as he passes along the northern wall he nears what sounds like a very muffled cry of pain from through the stone as if from the room beyond.Would be from the room marked 6 on the map, where shouts in goblin and laughter were heard earlier.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun motions to his companions to close in and whispers-

"In the next room up I fear someone, or something is being tortured. A muffled cry of pain, I heard."

Continuing to whisper-

"I'd like to keep these ugly fiends from their sickening idea of entertainment."

He slowly creeps up to the door on the north.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

I'm off to work. Back at 4a Pacific at the latest. If the pace picks up feel free to roll for me Tarl. Have fun.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She follows Kolgun, keeping her rapier ready.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel moves up to the door, his daggers still at the ready. Whispering "We'll move to attack once the door's open. I'll go in first. With my extensive training, their deaths will be quick."

Initiative (when needed) 1d20+3=13 | Won't be able to post again until tomorrow night (after 5pm PST). | Surprise Round: Move in to the closest enemy, attacking with dagger. Round 1: Attack same enemy if it's not dead, otherwise attack next closest.

Surprise Round Atk: 1d20+5=22 | Damage: 1d4+1=3

Round 1: 1d20+3=20, 1d20+3=19 | 1d4+1=4, 1d4+1=3

If I get back online tomorrow before the end of the surprise round, will adjust as necessary...just wanting to help you out Tarlane :)

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun's Initiative (1d20+1=11)
Once everyone’s in place and Aldrin opens the door, the team springs into action . . . .
Kolgun will seek out the nearest goblin, or enemy. . . .
1d20+2=13 (or 14 if vs Goblin.)

Liberty's Edge

I didn't hear from Aldrin yesterday, but he seemed ok with using his surprise round to open the door, so I'll let him do that for now. Hopefully I hear from him tonight to see what he wants to do with his first round.

As the gnome pulls open the door, he reveals what looks to be a strange temple. The walls of this oddly-shaped temple are partially covered in tattered red and black curtains. You can see an archway leading south despite it being half-covered by one of these curtains. The vaulted ceiling above is painted black. Spattered bloodstains cover the floor, particularly around the plain stone altar resting in front of the deep eastern recess. The place stinks of murder and pain, as well as the musk of some angry beast.

Manacled at the base of the altar is what looks to be an elf that is very pale and has obviously been tortured.

Standing above him is a orc who is a bit small for one of his race but he has a look of cunning in his cruel eyes. He's currently holding a bloodstained dagger, but he has a falchion strapped across his back.

Milling around in the room are three others who look especially tough for their races, another orc, wielding a large battleaxe, a hobgoblin with a longsword and a degenerate human holding a greatclub.

The group appeared to have been enjoying torturing the elf and seems completely caught off guard.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Initiative: 1d20+4=24

On the surprise round, she will move up to flank with someone, whoever is closest.

Liberty's Edge

Monster Initiative (1d20+1=3)

Aldrin Initiative (1d20+2=21)

Bengal, I'm going to bump you to second in the initiative count, just because you would have had to wait for Aldrin to open the door before you could have acted. Also because the layout of the room and the distance of the creatures means that none of you could get to them in a single move action. With the surprise round you could move, then on your turn move again and get attacks in however. Just let me know what you want to do once you are on. If you are attacking, those of you who already rolled can keep your attack rolls and just use those.

Initiative for this round will be:
Aldrin
Bengal
Thel
Kolgun
Monsters

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal moves up a bit, waiting for one of the others to approach an enemy so she will be able to flank.

Liberty's Edge

When Bengal moves into the room, she feels an almost pervasive sense of anger in the air as if it was flowing through her and into her. It seems to come easily to her as if she were able to harness it.

When anyone else moves into the room you will feel the same. This room bestows upon you the ability to rage as a barbarian for 3 rounds. Its a voluntary thing, so you don't need to.

Knowledge Religion DC 16

Spoiler:
This seems likely to be a blessing of the Beast God within his temple. It seems likely that utilizing this ability gives obeisance to the Beast God and is likely not a good act.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun enters the rooms and is nearly overwhelmed by the aura . . .
Religion Check (1d20+5=15)
but he can’t sense it’s true nature or purpose.

The dwarf scrambles as close to Bengal and Thel as his legs will carry him and readies himself to move in with his companions for combat.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

the manacled and delirious elf looks around, spots some of the party and says
in elven

Spoiler:
flee you fools! lest you suffer the same fate

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Aldrin will look at the elf in surprise, and say back in Sylvan

Spoiler:
"I'm sorry, I didn't understand that, but that's not important. My friends and I are here to rescue you."

sorry about being gone, was working up in LA from 5 in the morning and didn't get back till midnight, so was to tired to post. The first round of combat, after opening the door, i'll be using my 'telekinetic fist' power with a +3(+4vs goblins/kobolds) which is a ranged touch. I'm usually fairly busy friday night and most of the later parts of the weekends, so my posting will be a little spaced out for morning and late at night.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel steps into the room, the oppressive hatred overloading his senses. Remembering his training, and concentrating on the hobgoblin in front of him, he pushes aside his personal feelings of anger and hatred, and readies himself for a fight...

Will wait to see what happens next round. Will likely step forward (if I have high enough init) and attack the hobgoblin.

Liberty's Edge

Aldrin advances far enough into the room that he can send out a burst towards the hobgoblin ahead of him, though the creature holds its ground, seeming to resist the blow.Aldrin's Telekinetic Fist (1d20+4=11, 1d4=4)

Thel inches forward, swinging each of his daggers at the hobgoblin, grazing it across the arm and bringing a shriek from it then slashing its ribs with his next strike. The creature snarls, its eyes glittering with anger at the pain.

Bengal was waiting(delaying) for someone to get into a flanking posistion, so I'm moving her just after Thel. She can't quite get into flanking posistion this round and still attack so I moved her where I suspect she would want to go. If you wish to go somewhere else, or double move instead of attack, then feel free to correct that on the map. The hobgoblin hasn't acted yet so he doesn't threaten so you can get in that close safely.

I just need bengals attack roll, then Kolgun is up with his full turn, then finally the baddies and that will end the round.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal quickly hurries to a spot where she can attack, quickly striking out with her rapier hoping to hit successfully.

1d20+5=17, 1d4+1=2

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Forgot sneak attack damage
1d6=3

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun rushes forward hoping to deliver the killing blow on the enemy Hobgoblin . . .
He swings with furor at the wretched monster:
1d20+2=13 (or 14 if vs Goblin or goblin sub-type) / 1d8+2=8

then steels himself for the inevitable counter-attack.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel creeps into the room, and advances on the hobgoblin when it turns around. Spinning around with his daggers in his hands, Thel slices twice across the hobgoblin's chest.
With the second dagger, Thel opens a large gash across the hobgoblin's abdomen. Wrenching the wound open, Thel smiles as the creature writhes under his blade.

Have to work today, so posted my first two rounds
order of attacks:
hobgoblin, orc, degenerate

===== Round 1 =====
Move to square w14, attacking hobgoblin
Attack Rolls: 1d20+3=18, 1d20+3=14
Damage Rolls: 1d4+1=3, 1d4+1=4

===== Round 2 =====
Will attack the orc (if hobgoblin is still alive, will attack it instead).
Attack Rolls: 1d20+3=10, 1d20+3=23
Confirm Crit 2nd:
1d20+3=23
Damage Rolls: 1d4+1=3, 1d4+1=3
Crit Damage: 1d4+1=3

Liberty's Edge

Between the wounds from Thel and the well placed Rapier in the hobgoblin's side, the creature seems to be barely remaining on its feet, though it does manage to bat away Kolgun's attack angrily.

As they catch themselves from the surprise of the incursion, each of the creatures in the room howls angrily in goblin.

Goblin

Spoiler:
Blood for the beast god! You will feast Master!

The hobgoblin snarls at the dwarf, stabbing out at him with its longsword and striking a true blow.Kol, you take 7 damage.

Leaving the elf bound beside him, the leader orc drops the blood soaked dagger onto the altar and charges forward, pulling out his falchion as he does. He takes a mighty swing at her, though with its power is a loss of accuracy and she ducks away easily.

The other orc brings its sword down in a wide swipe at Thel, but it too is sidestepped without much trouble. As powerful as these orcs are, they obviously are not overly skilled.

Unfortunately, the degenerate human doesn't seem to have such problems as it advances on the dwarf, already wounded from the hobgoblin. It strikes down at the dwarf as he is offbalance from the hobgoblins blow, hitting him firmly on the chest and sending him into a heap. 10 damage, that should put Kol unconscious

So this next part is going to be purely speculative because obviously the battlefield has changed with Kol going down. I am assuming that you guys are going to still do what you were planning before to try and drop the bad guys as quick as possible so that you could stabalize him since I don't think anyone has potions. However, with things changing like this, feel free to say 'with Kol down I would have done this instead' and I'll change the fluff of it.

Aldrin lashes out at the hobgoblin with his telekinetic fist again, though the creature seems to once again take the blow without much effect. Attack on hobgoblin (1d20+4=8, 1d4=3) I need to warn Aldrin, since he seems to be the one gone somewhat regularly that this is how I roll from a players side. If he wants double digit die rolls, he'll want to do them himself.

Fortunately, Thel's first blow with his dagger drops the hobgoblin, it collapses gurgling and cursing in goblin. Continuing forward, he jabs his blade into the next orc as well, cutting it deeply.

The orcs took the spot you were going to move to on your turn, Thel. So if you stick with the actions above, you still have a five foot step that you can make as well.

For initiative, that puts us to:
Bengal
Kol(stabalize)
Baddies(bottom of the round)
Aldrin
Thel

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal is a bit too busy to see her companion fall as she continues her attacks. She will likely regret staying at this position, but she makes an attack at the leader.

1d20+5=20, 1d4+1=5

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun lies unconcious, his life draining away
10% chance to stabilize (1-10): (1d100=20)

Liberty's Edge

Hopefully they will finish this fight quickly, Kol. I figure at least one of them, even untrained will be able to stabalize you with a heal check. Then you can fall back to town to rest up if you need to. This dungeon doesn't make it too hard to get back out and rest if you need to, at least as long as you are on the upper floors.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

No worries at all, but I believe baddies are up.

Liberty's Edge

Bengal jabs into the orc leader, slipping her rapier under his guard and piercing his side. His return swing is clumbsy because of it, missing widely.

The other orc brings his battleaxe down on Thel, batting past his daggers and digging the blade into his thigh.Thel, you take 7 damage. Both orcs are now wounded though and are looking beat up.

The degenerate human takes a slow step forward, grinning widely as he looks at the gnome. He growls in a stuttering commong. "Little target. You'll be squishy." He tries to bring down his greatclub to bash the small mage, but seems surprised when the gnome steps aside quickly from it.

Aldrin said he was going to be fairly busy this weekend I guess, so I'm going to keep up with his tactics and have him attack the leader since he is injured and Aldrin hasn't taken too much of a hit yet. But I also am apparently going to keep up with my own die rolling... Telekinetic fist (1d20+3=6, 1d4=3)

Aldrin lashes out with his telekinetic fist at the leader, the orc snarls and actually bats aside the force with his falchion.

Alright, so that was the bottom of the round, with Aldrin up at the top. Our order from this point forward is:
Thel
Bengal
Kolgun
Baddies(bottom of round)
Aldrin

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel will 5-foot step out of the way to u16 [free action]. Will pull out his potion of cure light wounds [move action], and quaff the potion [standard action].

"Ergh! These scratches will certainly impress the countess."

1d8+3=11 HP Healed.

Thel looks over and sees the dwarf lying in a heap. "Someone help that dwarf before he dies on us, and we have to drag his corpse out."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal then takes a moment to look at Thel, her eyes widening, "What? Kolgun is down?" She then turns back to the enemy, darting forward to attack, "I am sad to say that there is nothing I can do at the moment, I am not well equipped to take care of those matters.

1d20+5=7, 1d4+1=5

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

He continues to slip deeper into unconsciousness . . .
1d100=85

Liberty's Edge

After Thel ducks out of the way and heals himself, it seems that his call of Kolgun's injury throws Bengal off a bit as her rapier goes wide and the missed blow leaves her wide open for a counterblow from the leader's falchion. He cuts across her midsection with a low growl.Bengal, you just took 10 damage.

The remaining orc advances a step after Thel, swinging at him and missing and the degenerate human seems frustrated as he once again brings down his greatclub but the gnome dodges quickly out of the way.

Aldrin has trouble getting to the forums on the weekends it sounds, but I did hear from him off the boards and caught him up on the situation. He said he's going to try and reduce person on the leader to take him down a step and then will switch to his heavy xbow.

Aldrin inches back another step from the degenerate human, preparing a spell as he goes. He focuses on the leader who just so grievously wounded Bengal. The spell goes off an a look of surprise is revealed on the orcs face and he lets out a howl of rage that takes on a surprisingly high pitch as he shrinks down to about the same size as the gnome.

Alright, so both orcs are wounded at the moment, and the leader(the one next to bengal) is also reduced. So far the degenerate human is unhurt.

Our current initative should be:
Thel
Bengal
Kol
Baddies(bottom of the round)
Aldrin

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Ow

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

damn orcs! :P

Will full attack the one next to me.

Attack Rolls
[/b]1d20+3=23, 1d20+3=12
Confirm Crit: 1d20+3=22

Damage Rolls
1d4+1=3, 1d4+1=3
Crit Damage: 1d4+1=2

Options
If the orc is killed with my first attack, will 5-foot step north, and attack the degenerate with my 2nd attack.

Flavor
With the renewed vigor of the healing potion flowing through him, Thel turns to the orc next to him, embedding his first dagger in the creatures gullet, bleeding him out. He follows up with a slash to the throat, and stands back, waiting to see if the orc will topple over, or prolong it's agony. :P Take that

Ummmm....?
Should we be doing our own flavor text--I've noticed they get slightly rewritten anyways.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She jumps in triumph as she sees Thel hit the other orc, and she stabs out at the leader once more, digging her rapier into his shoulder since he now stood a little taller than she.

1d20+5=23, 1d4+1=5

Liberty's Edge

For the flavor text, it is fine if you want to write it. I just tend to try and be flavorful in my descriptions because I can give hints as to whether it looks like you wounded them badly or barely at all and whether you hit and all those sorts of things you aren't always sure of, and I can do it without just spouting mechanics that way. I enjoy the fluff on both ends, though I can certainly work to try and keep my descriptions closer to the detail you used in your own.

It seems the tide of the battle has turned suddenly with the shifting size of the leader. Within a few seconds the orc collapses with with a stabwound through his throat and the leader drops with a rapier hole in his chest. The degenerate human takes its first wound next, with a slash across its ribs, leaving it howling and alone now, though something strange seems to overcome it. While it still has the anger in its eyes it looks almost lethargic suddenly, though apparently the shift in its speed must have thrown off his dodge and the creature lands a crushing blow across his ribs.

Its a good thing you drank that potion, Thel. Thats 11 damage.

Seeing his friend in trouble, Aldrin draws his heavy crossbow and lets off a shot, hitting the degenerate human square in the chest, causing it to stumble backwards. It looks like only its anger is keeping it on its feet at this point.

So Kol, you get one more stabilization check this fight, but unless there is some really terrible rolling either thel or bengal should bring the orc down and end the fight. Then hopefully one of you guys manages to stabalize Kol. Since you go to negative con though, it shouldn't be too hard as you have a fair number of rounds. The biggest things with that is seeing how long you need to be resting before returning to the dungeon.
