stuff about his stories
I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken, but "Black Sails" is a public domain Lovecraft story edited to fit the world of Golarion, is it not? I'm fairly sure I read a nearly-identical story a few years back in an anthology of fiction written or inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, though it may take me a little while to track the book down and make sure that I'm remembering it correctly.

No, the text was original to me. The idea for the story came to me after reading the entry for the Denizens of Leng in The Spires of Xin-Shalast. The entry reads on page 79, "Often they pose as gem merchants (their rubies are particularly lustrous and plentiful) but this is merely a cover while they go about their actual business - abducting fresh slaves."

I can't think of any actual Lovecraft story of exactly the same vein, though when I write Lovecraft style fiction I sometimes try and adopt a similar voice to his. That being said, I admit I have not read all the works inspired by Lovecraft and it is possible that Greg A Vaughan in adding that sentence was borrowing from someone else's story. The Mythos is like that.

Ah, then I must commend you on doing an absolutely spectacular Lovecraft pastiche. I was so convinced that you were drawing upon actual Lovecraft text that I was getting deja vu.

I almost wish it were adapted from a Lovecraft story, though. Then I could find out which specific story I was remembering when I read it and have an easier time tracking that story down. Trying to remember the specifics of that story is going to drive me nuts for days to come.

It's a cool story, by the way. Same basic premise as "Black Sails" and definitely the inspiration for the Denizens of Leng entry in The Spires of Xin-Shalast that you mention. (I don't suppose The Spires of Xin-Shalast mentions what sources inspired the Denizens of Leng entry, does it?)

You just made my morning splendidly good. I'm overjoyed and excited. This is the first time anything I've done has gotten published anywhere. Thank you so much!

I am with her, I know the hardest job on this had been made by Hugo and Liz, but I must say that is an honor to be part of this.

I agree it woould be cool if this could be repeated before the year passes... but I understand that the only place where for the time being it could be presented physically would be Paizocon, and the cost of printing it would be impossitive as fan product, it would be hard...

having it as a PDF would be cheaper... still a lot of work over Hugo and Liz shoulders.

Anyway it is a great work the one that was done by everyone involved :D

Montalve, I managed to totally miss the comment you left for me on dA - I haven't checked my page for a little while. I don't have facebook, so didn't see the preview, but it sounds like the fanzine was awesome! :D

Oh, and the artwork above the foreword is classic! I don't know if that piece is Glen Zimmerman's or Callous Jack's, but I can't wait to see Courtfool's reaction to it.

That would be Callous Jack's doing. We commissioned it t the last and he promply came up with the idea and the piece. A big thanks to him!

I'm finishing the PDF right now and later tonight I'll shoot it off to Paizo. I suppose they may upload it tomorrow, but that's just me guessing. I hope I don't get in trouble emailing such a big file. If I do, I think mighty Lilith will have a solution :P

Everyone did a rockin' job on this, but I want to give a special shout out to Nerrat Dei for submitting an article. Way to go, man! Show 'em that kids are not always kids and can work just as hard as the adults!

Oks, the PDF may soon make its appearance. The ball ain't on our court anymore...

I am enjoying reading the articles immensely.

I think Larcifer's Family Ties is my favourite so far (I am reading them all over the place, not from front to back).

Top job everyone!

Can't wait to submit for next year's 300 page Fanzine Extravaganza!

Wayfinder FTW!

Seriously, that was classic. We had to wait on our room, so I dumped the bags down in the lobby, opened Wayfinder, and my eyes hit that line of goblins and followed them over to the poodle. I laughed out loud. Great stuff. Great way to start the con.

Agreed - I had the pleasure of doing the edit on Nerrat's piece. It felt very tangible and immersive - I could really feel the moment in it.

Edit: I didn't get the PDF, but I do have a shiny-nice hard copy :)

Ooops, I didn't send Mr.Shiny's preview and I do have his email... I only grabed those emails that came asking for it and forward it, that's why many of you didn't got the preview.... My apologies.

I hope the PDF will be up real soon, so I recommend waiting a day(s) more and get the final in high resolution :D

Apologies again :(

I take it that the '-' is superfluous, since I can find no Ask a Shoanti sidebars after the page which is numbered (at the bottom) 57.

Yes. I intentionally left a hyphen in the table of contents just to taunt you. Oh the fanzine is RUINED! I didn't catch all the typos! WHATEVER WILL I DO.

I understand you have a need to point out all of the errors in a publication Charles, but please. For my sanity, refrain from doing so. If you feel you must point out all the flaws, you can do it in an email.

Edited previous post.
Sorry, but you had left the chat just after I found it, and the idea of privately emailing never occured.

Further explanation:
I make such errata posts in this internet age in an effort to be helpful, so that such things can be instantly updated and the next edition (or the pdf) can be even better than the current one. I make such posts about professional publications which I care about.
I am painfully aware though that at times inadequate does not even begin to describe my lack of mastery of social niceties and netiquette, and that I charge into things well-meaning but destructive.
My apologies for inconveniencing you, and I shall endeavour to refrain from any such possible blunders further on this matter.

Grrrr...Fate is toying with me.

The file is waiting patiently in "My Downloads", but with my current connectivity I'll need 6.5 hours of uninterrupted download time to get it!

After reading about all the great work you folks have done, I'm even MORE anxious to see it. Unfortunately, I'm forced to wait several days until I can get to a location with a high speed connection. X(

Ritual suicide. I'm sure it's the only way to save face. Unfortunately, since that would leave a dearth of available cookies in the world, you will not be allowed this honor. You must learn to live with this shame.
