Maybe Jimmy Carter?

I'd like to see a robot daggit get blown up in the final episode.

Dark Archive

Maybe Boxy is a Cylon. After all, he just kinda disappeared after the first two or three episodes.

Gaeta airlocked him.

Please Lords of Kobol, let it be so.

Great... the PC guy is Ander's Doctor.

This is the exposition episode.

I've only seen the first ten minutes so far, but are we to understand that Ellen and the other members of the Five created the rest of the Cylon humanoid models? And that Cabel a least knows about it?

Spoiler:
Yes. John/Cabel wins the sick frak award of the night. He airlocked the Five, then over years, dumped them into the colonies, for his entertainment. He then takes the ultimate Oedipal act on New Caprica. He also killed the sevens. (which explains why there are eights)

So now the question is... Is Boomer really helping Ellen, or is she just leading Cavil to earth and the fleet?

Aside, I liked Dean Stockwell's work. In part because of the sheer hatred I end up having for John/Cavil. Also nice to see Kate Vernon back. I liked her inital run as Ellen, and now so nice to see back.

You know, after watching

Spoiler:
The conversation between Cavil and Helen, as sick as he was I think he made some valid points. The humanoid model could be improved upon. It's not globally superior and given he knows his creator had that option, he's got every reason to be a bit annoyed at being deliberately stuck with an inferior specimen. Since Helen and the others clearly wrote the personalities, at least in broad terms, too, they really ought to have foreseen the problem. Creating a race is hard work and if you screw it up, you should not blame your creations for being upset when they realize that they're the cheap bootleg version instead of the ideal.

The Cylons need to create a new shark model. Then, on a recreational visit down to the ruined earth, the crew of Galactica could encounter this cylon shark while waterskiing.

In an effort to avoid being eaten by the cylon shark, Starbuck could use the boat's wake as a ramp to propel herself over the it. Actually, this would be two episodes. Episode 1 could end with Starbuck in the air over the shark, and episode 2 would begin at the same point.

After finishing the episode:

Spoiler:
I don't think that the Five really had a lot of option in designing the other Eight. The Centurions wanted human bodies, not bodies that looked human but had all kinds of fancy stuff tacked on. Helen pointed out that John's problem is not anything to do with with his programing, but with the fact that he refuses to accept who he really is. She also explained to Boomer that the Five gave the Eight free will, which in my opinion means that they can't be blaimed for the decions that John made, any more then I can be be blaimed for decisions my children make if they do things contrary to what I teach them.

I think they all have free will, not just the eights. I'm just wondering do all the ones know about the Five, or just John/Cavil? We've seen multiplle copies of ones (Cavil) but D'anna was the only three who knew the five, and Cavil boxed the set.

Ok, just came from the BoXM thread, so now my brain goes 'limited edition individually numbered boxed set' :P

Though Ellen caller her Boomer. So I have to think she can tell them apart.

I read someone's suggestion that the 'dying leader' is the Galactica and not Rosalyn.

Shame we've only 6 episodes left, there's so much I want to see touched on...

Spoiler:
John/Cabel introduced Bommer as Sharron before Helen recognized her. And yes, I meant that all Cylon humanoids have free will. I guess it didn't come off that way.

sorry I misunderstood you. I'm hoping Ellen recognizing Sharon/Boomer was more than just sloppy writing. As Sharon/Athena goes by Sharon as well. Athena also had/has all of Sharon Valeri's memories up to the moment she takes off in the Raptor. (Boomer did a subconscious windows update during the war?)

I'm also hoping that Boomer isn't suckering the FF for John. I liked the Season one Boomer, and the Boomer in Resurrection. Not this sheep she's been seen as of late. Like I said, shame we've only 6 episodes, her and Tyrol's reunion would be worth an episode of character development to me.

In relation to the 7(8) models becoming more individual...

Spoiler:

I find it interesting how we're seeing the 5 develop.
  • Tori seems to have gone full cylon. Oh for the days when the cylons went around naked when not 'on the clock' :P So much that any loyalties she had prior have gone out the window. Well that, and going full on psychopath.
  • Saul is trying to balance his two 'lives' He's still the man of 30 years in the fleet, Bill is still his best friend, etc. But he's also a Cylon, an expectant father, and will have his life turned upside down again next episode. (I'm also looking forwards to the Saul/Boomer interaction)
  • Anders needed a bullet to the brain, but he finally got the self confidence he had in season 2 back. Also apparently Cylons are not Windows compatible
  • Galen seems to think of himself still as human. Then again, we don't know how much of his past is fabricated. He stated he served on the Pegasus at one point, and we never had that statement confirmed. Anyway he still thinks of Galactica as 'his ship' and the Basestar as 'the cylon ship'.
  • Ellen is the only one who knows everything now. How is she going to handle Saul and Caprica six's little bundle of cylon joy?

I also find it funny/sad that with their memories partitioned and Anders maybe being brain dead that not only is resurection offline, but maybe their memories are locked away for good. (barring more gunfire, which as yellowdingo pointed out, is always possible.)

Interesting that nobody has mentioned anything at all about Daniel, the cylon that was "killed" in-utero....

My wife came up with an interesting concept...what if "Daniel" somehow came back in a different gender body and this explains Kara? I mean, now it's not the twelve..but the thirteen cylon skinjobs....

Actually I had thought that maybe the Ressurection technology was still functioning somehow on Earth and that is how Kara was resurected. I'm taking Katie Sackhoff at her word when she said in an interview that she has beeen told that Starbuck is not a Cylon, but that she is something else entirely. Remember that Sam was rambling about a "gift from the angels" before he went into surgery.

Actually the interview was last summer between the third and fourth seasons, when we were still trying to figure out the secret of the last Cylon.

In our current world of just watching an advertisement for a movie and the movie is ruined....I avoid this kind of stuff involving things I am actively enjoying rather than potentially ruining something...

    Dark Archive

I generally agree with that attitude. However, sometimes I just have an overwhelming need to know. In this case, the story has been much more enjoyable to me knowing that Kara is not a Cylon because now I can spend my time looking at the other possible ways the story can play out. And sometimes, especially with movies, I want to know if it will be worth spending my time and money on.

Well we a) Have not seen a reimaged ship of light and b) there's that voice clip from the comercials now 'Why don't you just go back to where you came from?'

Hmm maybe the cylons rebels and the humans settle on Kobol? ;-)

Actually...growing up on the east coast...a vast majority of my friends became lawyers...all we ever did was argue.

Some of my best friends, are people that actually managed to get an idea through to me that I was adamantly opposed to in the first place....

Like my buddy Vic back east...seperation of church and state does not mean that religious symbols and emblems cannot be displayed at or utilized in governmental functions...

Or my buddy Travis...9/11 was really about the "terrorists" winning against us by jacking up the cost of oil sky high...(not 1000% certain on this...but I am not vehemently opposing it the way I was when he was telling me this...)

Actually, I value differing opinions (believe it or not)...

That is a strong possibility since the whole series if based around the whole "this has all happened before, and it will all happen again," idea. Imagine if the final episode began with the fleet returning to Kobol only to find the 1970's Galactica waiting for them and Richard Hatch and Dirk Bennedict standing there saying, "what took you guys so long?"

Edit: In retrospect, maybe just Dirk. Having Richard Hatch there would be confusing to anyone who is only familiar with his as Tom Zarak. Maybe have Laurette Spang and Ed Bagley Jr. there too.

Well except she made a good variation of the original Starbuck but I still prefer Richard Hatch's version of Apollo though!

Not rescued by Athena. Athena is Sharon Agathon. She's on the Galactica. Ellen was rescued by Boomer, Sharon Valeri.

You can not 'program' personality into your children. Some of it, they inherit from you and some they learn (not necessarily from you).

John mentioned that they programmed him the way he was. This suggests to me they had a lot more control than a 'parent'. And therefore, I think they are somewhat guilty.

Of course it is not like they are an all knowing, all powerful being that created something that it knew would rebel and then got all bent out of shape when it did.

I don't know how much stock we should put into what John says. After all, as Sam stated, the purpose of creating the Eight was to end the Cylon/Colonial War. Why would they then turn around and program John with a desire to commit genocide against the humans and fratricide against his own creators? I think the "programming" that John described more involved downloading other saved conciousnesses into the Eight, people who's minds they had been able to save but did not have backup bodies for.

I think it was an excuse. It's the ultimate nature vs nurture arguement.

    -I hate humans.

-You choose to hate humans, you have free will.

-No, I hate humans and it's your fault, you made me this way!

Hmm, I just realized, this sounds a lot like Gaius' religion.

'you are perfect as you are, god made you perfect'

'God should appologize to us, for making us this way!'

Edit: And I thought the eight came from the Colonial created centurians.
