Pathfinder RPG cover art revealed???

Did I just see what what I think I saw? Will this be the final cover art for the Pathfinder RPG? I was just browsing Wayne Reynolds' website and came upon this:

http://www.waynereynolds.com/Fantasythumbnails/Pathfinder_RPG.jpg

Note the name of the image file.

I think it's an awesome picture! I love WAR's art like no other, and I think it's a very iconic image--dragon, sword, and sorcery! :)

It also looks to me like there just happens to be room on top and bottom for a logo, byline, etc. ;p

Anyway, judge for yourselves! ~Svev

P.S. If someone already pointed this out in an existing post, my apologies. I searched and couldn't find one.

Liberty's Edge

I haven’t seen that one before – you may indeed have discovered the cover art!

Dark Archive

Nice detective work ! If that image disappears in short order then your deduction would be correct ; )

It would also make a good inside cover page if not the actual cover. Time will tell.

Sovereign Court

That picture does have more of the feeling of action than books by WotC.

Nevertheless I like 3.5's tome-like look more.

Wayne Reynolds is just a god !

The cover art of the 4e books or the interior art? If the latter, I'd have to disagree.

I was talking about the cover arts, yes. I know very little of the interior art of 4th edition books.

That could be the DMG cover art. They have been working on that one too.

There will be no separate PF DMG, so I think it's a safe bet that this is "the" cover :)

OH yeah, I was thinking of the Beast book. Sorry I was wrong.

Perhaps we'll have word soon?

Silver Crusade

Hey! They're in a Dungeon and there's a Dragon! ;o)

Except the Eberron books, which are all WAR art...coincidence? I think not...

Sovereign Court

That looked very awesome. But, where's the rogue skulking in the background? You know there always is one ;D

Its in a Dungeon, theres a Dragon.
A fighter and sorcerer in battle with a dragon.
Doesnt get more iconic than that.
Its painted by WAR so of course it looks awesome.
Man I sure hope this is the cover...Its damn near perfect.

The fact that the ilustration design leaves a lot free space in the top and some on the bottom points to a cover....Interior ilustrations are more freely designed.

Could this be...

Nice find!!!

The rogue's down the street, getting out of a hot tub.

The Bestiary has a dracolich on the cover. I think Erik put it up in another thread.

She's in there, the artist just failed their Perception check

Why does this art seem so similar to the 4e PHB cover art?

Wayne Reynolds is the same artist.

That's a placeholder cover on the Bestiary: It's a Dragon Mohrg from J2: Guardians of Dragonfall.

I wouldn't complain about that being the cover at all... It's very much like the cover we've got for the Beta, only with a few less characters and a red instead of a white. Gotta admit, I'd appreciate the cleric being there, too, if only to quiet the people complaining about the over-sexualized Seoni art like back at X-mas time...

Sovereign Court

I'd have preferred a faux tome cover, like the 3rd Edition core books + FRCS. Failing that I'd have preferred work from fantasy masters like Michael Komarck or Todd Lockwood. Failing that.. well, I suppose this is perfectly alright. It's a dungeon, a dragon, Valeros and Seoni. It's far from bad, but it's just not at all inspiring.

Thanks, guys! :)

I liked Chad's name better when it was Spoiler McSpoilsalot...

The quality of art is great...

I prefer the covers for the original 1st edition PHB, DMG and MM. The PHB had a scene with a bunch of adventurers looting a lizardman temple after a fight, the DMG with an efreet and the city of brass and the MM with a whole bunch of critters in a cut away landscape. Somehow they just seemed more active, more was going on. Not just the fight. I want the scene to be a bit busier, a rat-thing perched up high, some other adventurers running to help, or fleeing some other horror.

Now that's a rule book cover I can love

Yeah, I saw that thread. :)

I should get an honorary forum title on my avatar.

I'm not sure I like "Spoiler McSpoilsalot," though.

How 'bout "Thunder Thief." Get it? ;p

Or what about simply "Investigative Reporter"? That goes well with the research I had to do here: Overall Villain Submission Thoughts.

Perhaps Sir Spoilsalot?
Although Svevenka is clearly sexier.

Three cheers for the Seoni cover loving. :)

Another great Wayne cover.

If you could see the rogue, she wouldn't be a very good rogue, now would she? ;)

Maybe the cover is a wrap around (unlike the great Campaign Setting cover) this time and she'll be on the back of the book.

It doesn't look like a wrap-around. But if it was a wider illustration with more details, and more a narrative feel, I would be happier.

Note how Paizo has been silent on this thread.

Hmmmmm.

Your observation, Saurstalk?

Silent no longer! Did you see today's post on the Paizo Blog?

I think I really did steal their thunder. :(

I hope they're not mad. I don't want to be on F. Wesley Schneider's poo list!

Or anyone's poo list for that matter.

Even if it made you a hero to the masses? ;)

Now that would be a good forum tag to have attached to your avatar!

"Svevenka, Hero to the Masses."

Yeah, I like the sound of that! ;)

Sounds good to me.

O...K... So, at the moment, they just took the cover art off the Paizo Blog (as well as the "Lansdale on Kline" entry) and replaced these with the "Legacy of Fire Outline" entry.

Did I seriously burst their bubble or what? I feel like David. I just struck Goliath right between the eyes and he's reeling as if in a drunken daze.

With my luck I really did get WAR in trouble and we won't see his art on another Pathfinder product ever again. Oh, man would that lead to my untimely death! If someone else didn't get me or hire a hitman to do it, I'd do it myself. ;)

Hopefully they just had a technical glitch and we'll see the cover art and other post back up soon.

Holy crap! Either I'm blind, or they've removed the cover art from Wayne Reynolds' website.

The plot is definitely thickening around here.

I sincerely hope I haven't caused any problems. That was not my intention.

Nah, whatever the case is, you're just a messenger. They shouldn't shoot those, right?

I can still see the image on the URL above.

Svevenka, don't beat yourself up about it. Yeah, you threw a wrench into their plans, but you meant no harm and you weren't the one who slipped up. Worst case: you got the slobbering masses a preview and forced Paizo to get more creative with their unveiling. (NB Wallpaper sized, people. And maybe they really will be large stickers that will be mailed out and used to paper urban eyesores.) No giants were slain (both because it wasn't a crit, and because of the good golem/evil giant disanalogy). Great detective work. But sure...have somebody you don't like open all your packages from Paizo for a while...
;)

ditto, works fine for me.

ROFL!

The direct link still works; you just can't find the thumbnail on WAR's gallery pages.

Time to get more spot (err... perception) ranks.
