Yesterday:
At work, came up with three good villian concepts.
After dinner, sat down to do brief writeups of all three.
Picked the one I liked the best.
Wrote up an entry.
Realized my entry was over 750 words and violated the Inappropriate Content rules.
Started over.
650 words - *sigh*
Edited down to 500 words.

Tonight:
Review and Submit.

Liberty's Edge

I guess that's the good news about not being picked; I get to relax. ;p

Not me. I've got to regain momentum. I need Polamalu to get me the ball back!

Glad to know I'm not alone. I came up two ideas, got rid of one for not being a villain, wrote up the second and after a day of reading last year's entries realized they weren't a villain but my first idea almost certainly is, but still get the feeling like everyone would like the other one better.

The Inappropriate Content rules would have me very worried i have to say. I take a lot of insperation from history which tends to be a rather politicially incorrect source. Many of my villains tend to be villinious as a result of their own bigotry or because they buck the social trend of the world in which they live(making them the subject of bigotry). To understand why they are villains, you must look at them through the lens of the world in which they live within. I don't think good villians should make us in anyway comfortable.

You mean the STEAL-ers.

From when they STOLE the Superbowl against the Seahawks.

Well, really, it was the EVIL REFS (tm) that stole it, but we'll blame you too. :)

SOUR GRAPES!
SOUR GRAPES!
SOUR GRAPES!

alas... and now the Seahawks suck again... well, it was fun while it lasted

I'm a 49'ers fan, which is about as hard these days is it was easy back in the '80s. I remember reading a bit in Mad Magazine back then with a title along the lines of "Top 10 maladies a Doctor is least likely to see." One of them was "Sore throat from screaming excitedly after every Seattle Seahawks touchdown." Of course, I thought this was terribly funny at the time. With the tables turned more recently, it doesn't seem so funny any more. Maybe that's why I still remember that stupid joke after all these years.

I also feel bad about laughing at that old joke because I really like Seattle. Anyone who has ever been forced to listen to my retirement pipe-dreams is well aware of this fact, so I didn't seem like a completely blatant bandwagon fan when I started rooting for the Seahawks (just a moderately opportunistic bandwagon fan, is all). I'd say the Seahawks are my second favorite team after the Niners, but they're actually third: my second-favorite team is whoever is playing the Raiders this week.

At any rate, the Seahawks don't suck: they're just "rebuilding." My team has been "rebuilding" for over a decade, but I swear: next year is going to be better!

I like to think they took the year off in an effort to score a higher draft pick for their incoming head coach.

The same thing is happening to everyone. See the Confirmation? thread.

Based on everyone else's experience, it's a pretty good bet that yours went through, but you can always ask if you want to be 100% sure. Vic being very helpful about this, and a heck of a lot more patient than I would probably be if our roles were reversed.

Cheers

Naah, you need to build up your vitriol level so when we get to the rating and voting, you can crush the souls of these Superstar-wannabes.

Who do they think they are, better than us?

I've reached "feature freeze" on my villain. I've kept adding and substracting stuff so much the rough textual wasteland needs some cleanup, close reading and editing - but for the first time in three days I am not confident to get it in ok shape before the finishing line.

Don't over edit Stephen.

I was doing that last night and realized that I'd worry myself useless. Finally took a deep breath and fired it off.

Your round one entry made it by the strength of its flavour. This is pretty much all flavour. Heck, I'm still considering myself outclassed, but you definately should get through this round. Have faith.

Edit: As to the football fans.

Q: When the Steelers play the Ravens, who does the Browns fan root for?
A: The Meteor.

I'm done. I think, at least. Pushed "submit" on the fateful post box.

I got zero acknowledgement, but that seems to be normal. I'll ask anyway.

I'm rooting against the Cardinals - any team that loses 47-7 in week 15 to a team that didn't make the playoffs doesn't deserve to win the Super Bowl.
