I'll start by saying this is a wondefull module and I can't wait to run it to my players. there's just one question that bothers me greatly: in the ice carving contest, how is it that peapole don't notice the gore that they merrily cut to tiny bits? it dosen't make sense, and I feel that my players are going to demand a rational explanation...

It's due to the effects of the Eye of Rapture. The eye essentially makes all the horrid stuff look like fun and games and the gore the pcs see from the ice is just snow and ice to the townsfolk. Very horror movie in that sense that no one sees whats going on except the main characters. Thats also why no one bats an eye when the pcs cut down the illusioned brownies and the like, because they dont see a combat between people they see a lovely snowball fight or an intellectual discourse or what have you, because even when in pain they don't really realize whats going on until its too late and then their screams are thought to be of joy.... Hope this helps.
