This thread actually got me to order the books. I got the core rule book and the kotor setting guide. A question though, is there any reason to pick up the other time period books if you don't want to play in those eras? Are the crunchy parts appropriate for any time period, and if so, are there any balance issue to be wary of?
The problem with the way WotC does it is that all of the books have force powers, feats, and talents that could be used in almost any era so they're good general resources - but a good portion of those books are devoted, as you'd expect, to the era they address.
So, if you've got money to blow, it'd be nice to have all of the books. If not you're fine with just the core and your campaign book. Might want Threats and Starships, though, as good, general sourcebooks. Scum & Villainy is just a good book and fun to read...but it doesn't have much to do with KotOR unless you want to introduce some seediness into your campaign. If so, get it! :)

I really like the Force Unleashed sourcebook. Even if you aren't a fan of the video game (or have never even played it), the new dynamics for Force powers within add a lot of versatility to Force users. Most significant is the "Unleashed" feats that allow your characters to spend their coveted Destiny Points to heighten their Feats and Force Powers to epic proportions.
Your run-of-the-mill Force Push probably isn't going to be powerful enough to knock that AT-ST out of the way so your party can escape the hangar, but an Unleashed Force Push might just be your ticket to freedom! etc. etc.
I love it. Great stuff, and a few cool Prestige Classes that are useable in most eras also.

If you're going Jedi, Force Unleashed is an appropriate book for any Jedi IMHO.
I really feel it was the jedi council... aka post-Tales of the Jedi era... that depowered the jedi and created this huge fear of the dark side and over using the force.

Okay, so Force Unleashed, Starships of the Galaxy, Threats of the Galaxy and Scum and Villainy. This looks like a next month expenditure to me. Thanks for the suggestions by the way.

If your going to go into a Dark Jedi environment Knight of the Old Republic Source book is a must. It handles the Sith very well. It also deals with the Mandelorians and gives a huge amount of info for the mandelorians.
I am even tempted to run a campaign based in the era of the Mandelorians or Sith uprisings.
As for the Nay Sayers, I think the system for the force '1 use per encounter' works very well. In the old System( including the D6 System) the Jedi kept constantly using for push, lift etc until he succeeded in throwing the big enemy off of the cliff etc. In this system he gets one shot at it (unless he uses a force point) which is much better.

I sooo wanna play a character wearing Clone Blaze Trooper Armour. The picture is awesome!
I'm looking forward to the Legacy Campaign Guide too. That should be quite interesting.
Cool, I think that's the perfect setting for young kids...it would be easy for me to assign The Jedi a task, and have the Clone be part of the team, but the clone would of course be in charge of a couple private clones, plus they'd get to fight clankers...so less moral ambiguity...

Definately a good setting for younger kids in the respect of killing Droids and not living beings.
And hey if you're interested in playing Saga PbP we have a game going that lost players before it even got off the ground, so currently there are only 3 of us.
