They set out to create a cult classic from the get-go. In my experience, that usually means it's intentionally bad. Good cult classics tend to be unintentionally bad.
I think I'll skip it.
I'll see it tomorrow night at Fantastic Fest in Austin. I'll let ya'll know exactly how bad it is.

Ok, saw it. I wouldn't say that it was intentionally bad. By and large, they put effort into it and it shows across the board, including acting, cinematography, singing, effects, etc. The story and writing is probably better than most of the stuff that comes out of Troma, or even the Saturday night creature flicks on Sci-Fi Channel. My biggest problem was with the actual music, which is largely homogeneous except for maybe one or two songs. It all tends towards the goth/industrial end of the musical spectrum, a lot of the "singing" is simply speaking in time, and the lyrics are frequently trying too hard to be clever.
That said, I was in an audience of about 100 or so folks (midnight screening) and there was a large number of those folks who were bugnuts crazy for the movie. I just wasn't one of them.
