Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

The past few months have been very sad and confusing for me as I witnessed the death of the only game that i loved and cherished. I tried to get into 4e, but sad to say, i could'nt. Something just feels so wrong with it that it doesnt feel like dnd to me. Oh, it is an rpg, but not the one that helped me when i had my troubled childhood and needed something to get my mind away from things.

3rd edition was different, but i quickly embraced it as it still felt like dnd(to me anyway). Then after 8 years of playing the crap outta it, some "thing" came along dressed like dnd, but it was'nt.Might as well be the big bad wolf for all i knew "What big dice you have dnd"/ "the better to distract you my puppet".

I went to their forums and searched for answers, but everytime i asked a question about the system the members found even slightly antagonistic towards their preciuos 4th edition, they all ganged up on me and i was forced to defend myself in kind. They even slammed me when i asked why the vancian spellcasting system was broken when Gary himself designed it. Let me tell you, never have i seen such a lack of respect for him than i did over there. They accused me of deifying him and told me although he is responsible, he is old and outdated! How can you say that he was wrong when it came to the game HE created? BLASPHEMY!!!

I also noticed that 4e came out as soon as Gary died. Kinda like a "F-you old man" from 4e's sinister creater's. I am a loyal player to dnd and it would have been fine for them to print a revision or even change the system a bit, but what i saw when i bought the 3 corebooks was NOT DND!

Anyway, i am not going back to that site again as i am sick of arguing with them and tired of acting like i like the crap quality products they spew from their bottom.

Hopefully here is a place i can talk with my true peers about the wonders of past editions( and them not always saying "But it was broken") and move forward with what i beleive to be(as others have said)the TRUE 4e that is Pathfinder.

I have been as open about my veiwpoints as i dare with this, my premeire post on Paizo. I hope you all are as glad to see me as I am to see you.

Signed, Jerry Dove.

Thank You. :)

I don't know how "rude" is some of the pleople who "defend" 4e, but here at Paizo you will find many many followers of 3.xE. The adventures and rules are still pretty attached to 3.5 and many of us are looking foward to evolve to 3.x next year, and hopfully that will be a kind of a 4e that we can feel more related to it and easier to embrace. Pathfinder aventures and stuff are great from my point of view and honestly I think they are more concerned on quality RPGs than anything else.

So, welcome home!

Welcome aboard. I'm glad you have made your way to these boards, and I hope you have a good experience here. We are carrying the 3.5/OGL torch through Pathfinder and I hope you enjoy playtesting it with all of us.

Now that you have found your new home, one simple plea. Let the anger towards 4E die. Bad energy just breeds more bad energy. You don't have to play it, and there is plenty of gaming goodness to go around. We have some wonderful 4E boosters here, and we try to play nice with each other as much as possible (although this fails occasionally). Take a look around, Lilith will be by with cookies eventually. Take a deep breath, smile and relax.

Welcome, welcome. Lilith should be around soon with cookies for ya.

I'm fairly new around these parts myself and I've found that (barring a few members) the community here is full of incredibly nice and friendly people. You'll enjoy your stay I think.

I'm also going to echo Patrick and say that being vocally anti-4E will most likely not make you any friends around these parts. They (4th edition players) have their game and we have ours, there's no reason we can't co-exist peacefully.

All-in-all, I hope you enjoy your stay. :)

LOL! Well, i dont really "hate" 4e per se, i just dont consider it dnd and the community it has over there was very tyrannic, is all. I have looked at pathfinder and am waiting for the printed version as we speak.I knew there could be balance to the game without gutting it, and i was right.

I am glad paizo made it their own and i will be a supporter from here on out.

No worries about any edition wars from me. After all I am where i belong, cheers!

Enjoy the boards and please remember to be courteous to others about their game of choice. The boards are largely self-moderated because we want the Paizo staff to keep making The Awesome. :)

Absolutely understood. I was burned myself on a certain board for asking questions when the magazines were cancelled, and I found my way here. We have no moderators, so we are charged with 'acting mature' about our comments, since there is no police force to watch over us. While some folks on either side of the gaming spectrum still throw flame posts out once in a while, for the most part we all get along.

Welcome to the evolution.

Welcome, glad you found the place. And I concur with the wise monkey's words quoted above. Most 4Eers are pretty cool anyways, except maybe Sebastian. ;-)

We get cookies?

Not at all - there's plenty! :D

What, you didn't? Don't worry, Lilith will fix that!

Welcome to the boards one and all!

Edit: See, told you she'd come through! But beware of the cookie thieves around here! *strives to look innocent and fails*

A suspicious sound of munching comes from the nearby trees.

Of course! It was in the fine print, right here...*points out the contract*

Hey wait a sec...I didn't know it was peanut butter cookies. I thought it was sugar cookies. Well, I'll happily take the peanut butter cookies. :)

Munch, gobble, Snarf, Telerie.

Welcome! I understand many of the feelings you expressed. I was deeply saddened when Gary Gygax passed away and I will always have the greatest respect for him.

And I've tried 4th edition--it is an okay game, but to me--it is not D&D. But like others have said, some people like it and that's cool for them. Fortunately the good folks at Paizo are giving us a wonderful alternative...and we get the added bonus of being able to keep using all of our old 3.5 books. But there's room for us all here at Paizo! Which is pretty sweet, IMO.

So again welcome! And bask in the goodness of all that is Paizo. (Btw, check out the flip-mats and the Pathfinder Adventure Paths...they're breathtaking! Oh, and the modules and the Beta test of the Pathfinder RPG...and a bunch of other stuff, too!)

*Looks around suspiciously*

MMMMMMMM Lilith Cookies!!!!!!!!!
Another reason why Pathfinder is better than 4e

Snickerdoodles and chocolate chip galore! Bags and bags of 'em.

Returning home to New York to a cookieless house... sobering.

D@$# Lilith and her money grubbing new Peanut Butter Cookies, This is just a way for her to make more money since we won't have any more support for our sugar cookies. And why did we have to go back to making cookies with sugar? I liked it much better when we switched to high fructose corn syrup, this is just Liliths way of forcing her "healthier lifestyle" on us. I'm never going to eat any lilith cookies ever again.

Sovereign Court

j/k I love you lilith even if it did take months to get my cookies ;-)

Even the name sounds fun (c.f. Smuckers).

brings animal from muppets and cookie monster onto the floor - they look around spot the plate and yell COOOOKIES! Rushing up to Lilith and eating all the cookies and the plate. at least they leave the upper half of her sleeve, the bottom half has teeth marks in it.

Welcome to the boards good sir!

And watch out for the ninja cookie scarfers ... they'll eat 'em right out of your hand.

Lilith goes through an inordinate number of cookies that way... ^_^

Paizo and Pathfinder go a long way to easing the pain. Take little sips at first, or jump head first, but either way expect to become addicted!

Sadly no. Rest assured that when I do, you'll know about it. ^_^

Sprinkles OREO cookie flavoring on Yasha's lower appendages, then downs a jug of milk before preparing to feast.
