The Hours is Philip Glass' best score (developed out of his collection Glassworks). I've been consistently listening to it for going on six years now, and my wife tells me she believes it's my favorite musical piece (the score as an opus).
I'm agreeable to that. Next to anything by Moby (my favorite musician), I will listen to this CD over and over and over, ad nauseam; and more than any other music, I'll catch myself internally humming along to 'Something She Has To Do' and thinking of Virginia.
Well, give it a listen, when you have some time. I love it, I absolutely love it.
Oh--and don't think of it as repetitious (its number one criticism), but as a single piece with a leitmotif, a wonderful variation of theme.

Glass' music is definitely an aquired taste, but well worth the effort. Check out the film trilogy Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi for an excellent integration of his minimilistic style together with amazing cinematography.
I often use it as background music during my gaming sessions.

I once sold him a TV when I worked at Best Buy. I didn't even know it was him until he handed me his credit card. Man, was he neurotic! But I love his music.
Particular favorites of mine are Einstein on the Beach, the Qatsi trilogy he did with Godfrey Reggio, his Low and Hereos Symphonies, and Kundun, and Notes on a Scandal.
