OK, I'm new to pathfinder - Have been playing Warhammer FRP, Rune/Hero quest, Lord of the Rings and others for years, but never (A)D&D. So, my question is - where to I find info on Monsters, animals, etc. Is Pathfinder designed to be stand alone or used as an adjunct to D&D? I've downloaded the Alpha test PDF rule book, but no monsters! I see I can download a PDF that contains 10 'classic' monsters but where to I get into on everything else? Is there a Pathfinder monster manual that I'm not finding or do I need to get a copy of the D&D monster manual and if so, which version??
Thank for helping a pathfinder newbie - looks like a good system and well supported - always a bonus!

Pathfinder RPG is intended to be used with any 3.5 Edition rulebooks. It actually replaces the 3.5 PHB and DMG. Paizo haven't yet released their Pathfinder version of the Monster Manual, but you can use the 3.5 version MM, visit www.d20srd.org, or use monsters you like from any other 3.5 sourcebook. The Pathfinder Adventure Path series also contains a handful of new creatures at the back of each book.
While you can play any 3.5 game using the Pathfinder RPG rules, the Pathfinder Adventure Paths (adventure series) and Pathfinder Modules (individual adventures) come highly recommended! If you're looking for somewhere to start, may I suggest Hollow's Last Hope, a first level adventure available as a free download here on the Paizo website.
Welcome to Pathfinder. If you have any other questions, you'll find the folk here friendly and helpful. I hope you enjoy your games!

The Pathfinder Wiki, a fan site, also has fan conversions of monsters for the Alpha rules.

... visit www.d20srd.org, ...
I like to stress the importance of this link, if you want to play the alpha rules. These are the D&D 3.5 rules for free (without a few monsters wizards never released as OGC like the Mindflayer aka. Illithid), and not just monsters; spells, magic items, etc., too.
At least until the beta release comes in mid august, it's a must-have. (I think there's a downloadable version somewhere on the site, too)

Oh, I have a downloadable version for free, wait-a-minute...
Ah, yes.
It's Sovelior's & Sage's version.
Funny, I always thought I had an older version from d20srd.org and that was the reason for the different layout etc...
