It hasn't even risen here yet. Ah the wonders of modern communication!

Kids ok man?

Nah Rad, haven't seen that one - what's it about (assuming the title's not entirely self explainatory).

I don't need to watch it.

Yes flash is under the weather.

Sun is setting soon here too. S$~~, I'm in the same time zone as Rad.

Yah, my daughter has stabilized. She started out with an ear infection which transmorgified like every sickness she gets into pneumonia. We had a bit of a bit getting her down to the hospital, then a couple days of intensive chest therapy with nebulizers to break up the masses in her lungs. She's feeling better and her fever has gone, seems to be breathing strong which is a relief.

This link should help.

Must of been a terrible worry for you.

I'm so glad she is getting better, I feel real bad for joking about it earlier as well, please accept my apology for being insensitive, I only usually stop talking to change feet.

Oh no worries. I didn't even feel like you were being insensitive :). I take life as a humourous interlude. As one person put it "you can either laugh or cry". Unfortunately pneumonia isn't a rare occurance with my daughter. She has gotten it four times this year. She is medically fragile, and being immobile for the most part guarantees she will develop lung illnesses quickly from almost any malady. One reason we are hesitant to take her out into public places. A kid sneezes near her and were in crisis mode for a week :(

How old's your daughter Patrick?

My son's two and a half. It seems like he gets sick every second week (which means I get sick the in-between weeks!), but nothing too serious so far fortunately ... just colds and sniffles and things.

That's how they figured out I had allergies- when I was little, I was sick all the time. You might want to get him to an allergist.

Actually my daughter is 15. She is multi-handicapped with cerebal Palsy, severe mental retardation, and Grand Mal Epilepsy. She is stuck at a 3-month-old develpomental level, and is also functionally blind and deaf. She gets pneumonia basically because she can't move a lot. She is very fragile medically, so we try to keep up on her sicknessess as they come in. Any kind of bug will romp and stomp all over her immune system.

Despite her problems she is a great kid, and a real sweet girl. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Well, don’t I feel like an ass for complaining my kid gets sick sometimes!

Looking after a child with such special needs must take a lot of dedication. I would hope that if I ever needed to do so I could rise to the occasion … I hope so, I’m not entirely sure that I could. I admire you that you have man… and still find time to game (at least online), that’s really admirable.

He's had blood tests for allergies, nothing serious. The sick every second week is partially me exaggerating, and partially that he goes to childcare and picks up stuff from the other kids there. And there's always some sick kid there.

Patrick,

Incidentally, I live in a country where people hide children like that in a room, let them die at the hospital before they get started, or just institutionalize them permanently and never see them out of shame. This country crushes the spirit that you have.

Stuck at three months developmentally? You have all my prayers and wishes that she may ever have the beautiful dreams that my kid has had. I wake up to her giggles and chattering almost every night and wonder what kind of awesome stuff she's getting. I remember her doing it when she was an infant too.

Again, you rule.

Whichs makes me think of this movie that everyone should see.

Well man, the sad part is that for the most part that is how kids like that are treated in this country too. One of my great annoyances is when some insensitive j@ckass says "Why don't you put her in a nursing home?" because they don't get the fact that despite her issues that she's a KID. She might not ever get a degree, a job, or marry, but that's no reason to stick her in a room to die.

I could tell you some real horror stories about managed care for special needs kids. One reason we don't get to go on a lot of vacations is that we have had such bad experiences even leaving Ally for a week at some of these residential places. We are lucky in that we have a long-term home nurse who does about 30 hours taking care of Ally, and who loves her dearly. It allows my wife and I an occasional day out when our schedules sync

One reason I am angry this voting season is the Democrats slinging mud at Sarah Palin for having her Downs Syndrome child rather than having a convenience abortion or giving up her life to care for her. That just pisses me off. A kid is a gift, no matter the circumstances. Ally has taught me things that no other person could have, just by her existence.

Having a kid with special needs doesn't mean you have to give your life up, it just means you have to make certain sacrifices. One reason my post count has risen so high is that I can't go out at night or on the weekends. My wife and I switch off job hours.

Ally has a great personality, and is a very happy soul. She is at three months mentally, but it is like having a permanent baby, a happy giggly one. I think she is high on the Karmic Wheel, she is a wonder despite her infant state, and I think she is spending this life here as an example. Believe me, my other daughter is a much bigger headache, and there is nothing wrong with her brain.

Anyway, /rant. Back to gaming!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Humans... sheesh.

I can sympathize, Pat.

In my country, the idea of a nursing home is anathema to our culture. It is unacceptable to leave the care of sick family members to strangers, whether they be children or old.

It used to be the same here, but the 'culture of convenience' and the ascendancy of the 'me' generation means that people always want someone else to do the hard bits for them. Many folks can't understand why someone would WANT to home care for a handicapped child or an elderly parent because it is so inconvenient. They want to be able to go out and go to dinner, or drink and party. The infantile mindset I see from people these days (of all age ranges) is just staggering. No one seems to have any sense of personal responsibility, it's always 'someone else will take care of that for me'. It's sickening.

Personally I take it as something you are honor-bound to do. That and you actually grow as a person by doing it.

Note: I will be spotty on these boards until Weds aft. Today is a busy day and Mon and Tues the regular. Once again feel free to DMPC me if it becomes neccessary for gameflow.

I have just finished watching Diary of the Dead, If you like Romero films it is a must watch for this sign up.

Yah, I caught that.

After blabbing about I am Legend I decided I'd shut up about my sources.

I will say that I'm reading a book nobody has mentioned.

I'm tossing up whether to just continue Sam with Fast or branch out into a couple of Tough, then continue with Fast. Possibly thinking of going into the Martial Artist Advanced Class as well, moreso from a story/background perspective rather than any actual need for anything the class can offer.

I've been wondering whether or not to mention it, but my momma raised me to be polite, and when we played dodge ball and a kid came and watched we invited him to play.

Sure, we chucked the ball at his head really hard and tried to paralyze him from the neck down, but you know what I mean, right guys?

I am sitting here contemplating being hit in the face with a dodge ball and paralysed from the neck down, it does sound kind of fun.

If you guys do want to extend me an invite to be fresh meat I would jump at the chance, I do feel a bit like this threads stalker now considering how often I check for an update on the story.

I will raise my hand and confess to even having a character idea.

Have the book. You looking for the mundane items or the magic versions?

Fire Resistant Suit

Spoiler:

I had an e-mail from Kruelaid informing me that he could not post:

"By the way, I can't post.

Everything I write just disappears.

Go figure.

Let the guys know if you could, although it will probably be fixed soon."

I guess this is sorted now, but just in case it is not, that is the reason.

This has been edited to reflect my sentiments. =)

I would LOVE to own Urban Arcana, but I have missed out on picking it up cheaply twice now (once for $10 and once for $40). It regularly goes for around $80 here in Australia which is just way too much for me.

Flash, if I see one here in the Philippines, I'll send it to you.

My copy was given to me by a friend.

Wow thanks Rad. Just let me now how I can pay for it if you do manage to find a cheap copy (or maybe there's something you'd like that I can send to you?).

MilSims (Military Simulations) is an import company that is fairly big over here. They had a clerance sale a couple of years ago and I managed to pick up most of the d20 Modern books for $10 each. (Urban Arcana was the one I wanted the most and was one of the ones I missed along with Weapons Locker and a few others). I did manage to get :
d20 Modern Core Rulebook
d20 Future
d20 Futre Tech
d20 Past
d20 Apocalypse

Cool.

Hey if it's possible, can you please send me a breakdown of what events occurred on what day for Rise of the Kobold King? I have been very lax in keeping Coralee's Diary up to date and Franz was keen a couple of months ago. Just want to be sure what happened when. Nothing fancy, just

that kind of crap.
