I haven't been so damned excited about D&D in years. And best of all, with all the gadjillions of posts and rants along every possible tangent, the Paizo staff still go out of their way to talk to us and listen to us...and...gosh, they really actually act upon our suggestions more often than not!
So I'd like to dedicate this thread as a place to thank Paizo for all that they are doing for us and our hobby.
Keep it up guys!

Here ya go, man. /tissue/
And I second this emotion. When Wizards announced 4E, I was cautiously optimistic, but as the months rolled on, I became more and more jaded. I had finally gotten to the notion that I should just give up d20 entirely, since it wasn't going to be supported anymore in the play style I prefer. Then Paizo made their announcement, and I've been delighted ever since.
I may not agree with every detail about Pathfinder's design so far, but we're still in Alpha, and the level of openness and care for the community shown by the company (especially Jason the Bull Man - you rock!) to the fans has simply staggered me. So many of the changes to the core system ring true to me, since I've been using similar rules in my homebrew for years now, while others have knocked me flat with their simple and graceful solutions to things that have bugged me that I could never quite put my finger on. (The new skill system is brilliant!)
Every year, I go to GenCon as my annual vacation. I always stop by the Paizo booth and have a few nice words for the people there. When it was Dragon and Dungeon, I always made sure to buy an issue while I was there. I got the Shackled City hardcover from them, even though I probably could have gotten it a little cheaper down the pipe. I do these things because I think that Paizo is a quality company that deserves my support. Their efforts with Pathfinder have only reinforced that belief for me.
In short, a big thank you to everyone at Paizo. I'm going to make sure I hug everyone at your booth this year.

QFT!!!
I've gotten into the Paizo revolution a bit later than some (only about a week now), but the excitement I feel when I read this stuff is what I should've been feeling about 4e and don't.
The garbage I've seen for 4e has been giving me a sick feeling in my stomach for the future of the game, but Pathfinder has renewed my vigor for the game.
I hope Paizo does well with this, they deserve to, since they are actually making something that the fans want, instead of just making something to try and break into the MMO crowd.

I think we should start pestering the pope to get them all sainted! They gave all those "old gamers" a new home. They've taken us in, they sated our hunger for decent D&D material, they were always kind to us. I want a world-wide Paizo holiday! (But then again, I'd use any excuse for a new holiday if it means one more day sleeping late! ;-))

4e didn't make me sick to read it, I actually like the change to death and dying (once I ruled that a one killed you, now players can't metagame waiting to heal a player because they are at -# or because they automatically get three rolls)
But the more came out the more I just felt this is becoming a kids game where they just give give give with no drawbacks or thought to selection. And the fact that low level play starts out with level 5 characters so there go all my humble origins characters since they have to start out uberpowerful compared to the common man.
But with Paizo they have yet to release something that makes me go ick (especially since skill points are back yay) I think they are doing a great job involving the community instead of saying "Hey its going to be great, why don't you buy all these sneak peaks to see how great its going to be."

When I first heard about 4ed I was, well, for lack of a better word, Disappointed. The more I found out the less happy I was with them. Oddly enough, many of the problems they were sighting weren't problems we were having. And the perceived direction they wanted to take the game completely tuned me off ever buying it.
Then I ran across mention of Paizo's Pathfinder on Necromancer's message board. I was curious, so I dug for more information here. What I saw impressed me. So I shared it with my friends, and we rejoiced.
While there are a few things I don't like about the Alpha, I still have high hopes for what you are doing here.
Thanks guys.

We, the posters, are actively taking part in the creation of the new rule set. For me, it's a great and wonderful way to be back in the thick of things after the birth of my son. Next month, I'll be running my first D&D session after a two year break. It's going to be a low-level urban adventure using the Alpha 2 rules. Thank you again for what you are doing for the D&D players.

Me three. I viewed 4E exactly the same way, and with more and more info leaked, the alarm bells rang more and more. Our group had pretty much abandoned all plans and were looking for an alternative system to run... then Paizo announced Pathfinder and its been like 1982 and the Red Basic Set all over again for me and mine - exciting days indeed!

I must say that the fact I saw alittle of my influence in the game did fill me with joy. Developers that actually work with the players shouldnt be a revolution but it is. I also saw alot other peoples ideas make it and was excited beyond anything wizards has ever offered me. Though they have a smaller group of determined usually vetern players and DMs to work with. Our needs are and ideas tend to be similar since most of us come from experienced gaming groups and most of us do not like the direction 4e has taken.
So paise be paizo, Jason, and his joly man who dare take the path less travelled. *raises his drink in toast*

You're all wrong. It's a bunch of trash. I'm a troll. BRAAAAAGH! (/sarcasm)
Seriously, generally agreed with the above statements. This is great. Like I say, even if I disagree with the eventual outcome, I'm still happy having supported the future of the version of the last version of D&D that still deserves the title.

Another thing which is great about open playtesting and Alpha 2 discussion: it makes me think hard(er) about the rules and their purpose.
Currently, I'm having a great time analyzing and testing combat maneuvers while looking at clarifying and (sometimes) improving the alpha 2 version.
I know it's been written before, but there goes another "Well done, paizoan guys and gals!"
