Hey all, Going out of town for the Easter weekend,
Off to swordfight and re-certify in stage combat!

Will either be back on Monday, or tuesday night if I go to New Orleans to visit family as well.

Happy Easter to all!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Guys. Some serious bad mojo is going on in my life. I am going to attempt to stay current. I think I can, but if I don't post up, know that I will be back

-DM

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

That awkward moment when new posts in the discussion thread make you realize that you've accidentaly hidden the game thread...it's the checking the boards while half asleep that gets me every time. I'm guessing I'm pretty far behind now? I will try to catch up in the next day or so.

And I hope that things get better for you soon Patrick. I'm pretty sure you're due for a run of good luck.

That sounds really bad Patrick. I can only hope things get better for you.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Well, the bad things happening have one consolation. I think I will have a lot more time for gaming :/

Female Human Cavalier 8 (Order of the Dragon)

Oh no that doesn't sound very good at all.

I have to agree with Mark, doesn't sound good at all.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No it's not good, but it is what it is. There's also an off chance I might be headed up to Cape Breton for a few years, so we might be province neighbours Guy (I'll have to work on my 'u' insertions and the metric system)

Well it is a Great part of the province if you don't mind snow, and the snow has been particularly bad this year, but they got lots of scenery.

Wow.
Um, I hope it's not as bad as it sounds Pat.
But if it is, I hope it gets REAL better REAL soon! :)

And hey, I don't think I'd mind moving to Cape Breton for a while.
Um, My wife wouldn't care for it much (Being born in Louisiana, she has an aversion to snow. It's fine when seen on vacation, but she doesn't want to have to deal with it when trying to get to work.) ;P

Well I hope things look up soon! We'll see you back here when your ready! :)

Hey is she Cajun? There's a lot of Acadians living in Nova Scotia and most Cajun/Acadians consider Nova Scotia their home land. It's a wonderful place for most of the year but the snow takes a bit of getting used to. Cape Breton usually gets a bit more snow then we on the mainland but for the last few years we haven't been getting a lot. We more then made up for it this year though.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I got plenty down here on cape cod

One thing I like about Cape Breton is it is like cape cod was forty years ago. With mountains. And it's colder, but not terribly so. 3-4 weeks of colder weather. Plus I have a bazillion rekatives there. I am mostly Hebredeian Scot heritage, but some Arcadian French, English and (apocryphal) Micmac

I've never been to Cape Cod but I've heard good things about it. It's a bit of a touristy location though isn't it?

Either way I hope you don't have to move if you don't want to.

Heh, well, TECHnically she has been called 'Cajun', but that's because most people think that anyone from south Louisiana is called that. She was born and raised in New Orleans, so she IS a southern Belle, but her family history is german on her dads side and italian on her mom's.

(Oi! The family 'discussions'!) ;P
So no, her family did not come from the Acadians/ Nova Scotia people.

And believe me, I got the italian history page by page long before I asked her to marry me. I think it's some kind of family/Italian requirement. Passing down the family history and all. ;)

Cape Cod, I think I passed through once as a teenager. Church youth choir trip probably.

Your family history sound much much exciting than mine. (Maybe because I don't know a LOT about my family tree?) ;)

Ditto on hoping you don't have to move if you don't want to!

Dark Archive

We were in Cape Cod once when I was a teenager for a family vacation. I think we stayed just outside Provincetown. It was OK; I remember the fresh clams and lobster best, though.

Heh, fresh lobster would make a good memory I would think! :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Cape cod is pretty, but a toxic place to live. Seasonal economy (no one wants to visit in January) service-oriented (no manufacturing or otherwise, really) and prices are high due to the location and the thirst for summer residences for rich folk.

I'm done. I want off the sandbar. 14 years of scraping along and I'm just done

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

By the way, do any of you think we need a fighter-type to replace Issac? I know you guys do some damage, but I just wanted to get your thoughts on the matter.

Heh. I feel you there monkey. I really do. :P

Good luck. I'd give you some of mine if I had any left. ;P

Good question, and my first instinct was to cry 'YES!'

But then I realized that Karrin and Rhiannon aren't lightweights either. :)

I'll go with the group on this, but I think we might be fine with who we have. We are almost evenly split between warriors and casters right now. (Unless the question was a GM hint that things might be getting very nasty very soon?!?!?) :(

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

You guys ARE headed into Spook Central...

Dark Archive

male human

I'm always OK with adding new victi... er, friends to the mix. Whatever everyone else wants to do.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I'll tell you what. For now I'll open this to personal recommendation. If you all know someone who'd like to play a tank type of character, let me know, and let them know. If I don't hear anything, I'll open up a recruitment open call in a few day

This is assuming no one has any objections to adding one more player.

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Having another healer wouldn't hurt, Ekuur is no slouch but he doesn't have turn undead IIRC, and Rhiannon had some healing abilities I think but not really enough to be considered a secondary healer.

Justin feels you can never have enough meat shields,... er,... FRIENDS to hide behind while casting! ;P

I have no objections to adding another. As has been mentioned we are short on skill monkeys, and another healer, even a backup, is never a bad idea! :)

Plus, as we all keep getting busy, another player lets us keep moving forward while the RL busy one drops unexpectedly off the map. :P

(Warning, at end of this week I am loading in the Opera show. We are doing Le Miz, and not only am I the Tech Director for the facility, I have the dubious honor of being the Lighting Designer as well. I will either be able to check in once/day, or will fall off the face of the earth for about a week.) :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No worries Rags. This next bit will take a bit to set up. I have to introduce the new people and the like.

He doesn't have the Turn Undead feat, no, but he does channel energy.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I think the channel energy is good enough. Turning is a dicey move anyway. The undead are still in play.

I thought tank type just because Karrin is kind of a glass cannon. Ekuur deals good damage, as does Rhiannon, but there's no one who can stand up and take the hits while the others unload.

Ah, see that makes sense. I admit I haven't looked at everyone's Character sheet enough to realize the fine details.

And Justin thinks of Karrin as anything BUT a glass cannon!

A cannon perhaps, but not glass,... ;)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Don't get me wrong. As a damage dealer she is top notch. She can do triple digits per attack sometimes. But DPS characters need someone in front distracting the enemy

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

I think Rhiannon is a pretty solid tank, better AC, likely better HP then Karrin, so I think the only area we might be difficent at the moment is utility. We don't have a skill monkey at the moment. A bard would be ideal, they bring skills and limited healing, a straight up rogue would be cool as well.

I got no problems with more front line fighters, but as is we have Karrin, Rhiannon and Ekuur as our front and Merle, Justin and Nari to rain down pain from the back line. I think we're pretty balanced on offence, but that's just my opinion, and I'll bow to whatever everyone else thinks.

Triple,... digits,.... Damage,...??? <drool>

(Goes to work the evil MATH vs his current spell selection,...) ;P

Yes, Justin has (painfully) discovered that being able to TAKE a hit is just as important as being able to dish it out. (He's still researching his future immunity to fire. Being on the receiving end of a fireball isn't nearly as much fun as shooting them!) ;P

Again, I'll go along with the group. I'm pretty sure that those players interested in joining this madcap band will probably fit in nicely. :)

Annnnd, if the GM is hinting that we are headed into 'Spook Central', and is asking if we want to replace Issac?,...

Hey, I admit I'm slow, but I can take a hint! :)

EDIT/RE-EDIT/Dangit,...

I keep trying to say something witty, but when I re-read it, everything I type just comes across as annoying, or worse. :P Must be Monday the 13th! I'll just stop while I'm ahead,... :/

And WOOT 250 game thread! :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I think Guy has a point. Perhaps a skill monkey would be better. You do have some doughty fighters and Rhiannon should be a good high AC meat shield.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

And thanks all for sticking with the game for 7 years/250 pages. It's had its ups and downs, but I love GMing you folks. This game has given me some of the most satisfying game experiences of my career. A lot of that is thanks to you guys.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Right back at ya Pat!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, thanks for letting come join the party. (Figuratively and literally) :)

You have a great storytelling style, and obviously like to have fun with it. And your fortunate to have gathered a bunch of people who like to play with as well as in your worlds. I'm just grateful for your letting play with you and have fun too! :)

Here's to 250 more pages! (For starters,...) ;)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I'm going to put out the call for a skill monkey. See what we get.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

We have some candidates over on the recruitment thread. I'd love it if you folks could help me decide who should get the nod.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I don't know the other two, but Ed is one of my Avalon players. Very creative and no worries that he won't post often enough. :)

Sure thing Pat.

(I never have problems throwing my two cents in.) ;P
Looks like they have some interesting ideas.

BTW I loved your recruiting shpeal. :)

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Sorry I've been kinda absent, will get back into the thick of things.

No worries Mark. It happens to us all. :)

Actually, I might vanish shortly. :(
I'm already so tired I can't see straight, and I have to load in the Le Miz show tomorrow, and do a week straight tech, and then performances,...

So If you don't hear from me, I either passed out from lack of sleep, or got ran over by the barricade! ;P

(Which is even funnier if you know that I'm also playing the bit part of Fauchelevant, who is the guy that gets run over by the cart!) :D

See you soon,... maybe,... :/

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

OK we have three different folks over at the recruitment thread. I'm going to have to figure out who gets the nod. Anyone have any thoughts, either post them here or PM me.

I've been trying to keep up with the recruit thread. I'll try to review them tonight after work, before I get slammed with load in tomorrow. ;P

Last I saw they all had good ideas, I don't envy you having to choose! :)
But I'll be glad to add my 2cp soon as I can.

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Okay, if I had to pick one, and they're all pretty good, I think I'd go with Shadowblade.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

The sensate is kind of fascinating from an RP standpoint.
