For Seeker:

Spoiler:
Hey bro. I know you've been having issues with connectivity, but I just want to double-check and make sure it isn't that you are bored with the game. If it isn't keeping your interest man, feel free to say so. If you are happy with things I am happy to keep you in the game, but if you're not, then let me know and I can write Zigel out, no harm no foul. Just give me a sign, I haven't heard anything for a while.

Oh hey man it's all good, no worries. I was just worried you might be bored with the game and unsure how to tell me you didn't want to play anymore. If you still want in, no problem. I have Zigel in a bar by himself chatting with his fallen Deva friend Nightwind, so take all the time you want. I was just going to let you know if you weren't into the game anymore that it was OK.

Hey man, don't mean to be a nudge, but I am going to have to write Zigel out of the thread for a while. No worries, I understand you are busy and having comp. problems, so I have something interesting for him to do. I am going to post it, so you can see his fate. When you get straightened out I can bring him back and we can go forward. Peace bro, and I hope that everything goes well. Any issues give me a holler at spamreef@hotmail.com or hit me back here on this thread.

Spoiler:

OK cool man i just got back online. Go ahead and write him out thats cool and I understand. For now I am not sure I can post every day so be real hard to keep up with this game. I really was enjoying it Before my issues.
The connection issue may still be a few weeks so I cant hold to game up and I have done feel very far behind in the story. Some days I have connection some i don't its a line issue it seems.

I really did enjoy the game and you were a great DM and crafted a interesting and livening story and once my phone company can get off there ass and fix this issue I would enjoy rejoing or playing in another of your games. Thanks for understanding

To my fellow players

Spoiler:

As some of you know i have been having connection issues . Its a hard ware thing on the phone company side. It may be a few weeks as they are changing lines and such.

As such i cant be online every day and have fallen way behind in the story so for now gonna have to step out of this game it just moves to fast for me since i don't have internet every day..or some weeks it seems.

I have enjoyed playing with you all .

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Just so you know, I am still here and following what is going on. I am having a slight inspiration failure and my sleep pattern is being shot to pieces by having to watch the Olympics. The game is still inspiring but I just can't think of anything to post right now. But I will post again as soon as I see anything that needs my attention and then, hopefully, my inspiration circuits will cut in again. Ffethpaar is naturally taciturn anyway so it is all in character...

Bribes always welcome

To all:

I hope that everyone is enjoying everything I have been dishing out. Seeker, I loved Zigel and Kratos, still do, but I figured until you got back on your feet I would give him something to do that would involve him until such time as you want to return (and give him a cool story to talk about when he gets back to the Cage!). The door is open any time bro, just say the word.

Thrugnipp, I am glad you are still happy with the game. No worries on slow posting, I have a feeling that a lot of folks out there are enjoying their time outdoors (as I am about to). PbP is a slow-moving format anyway, I hopefully will be getting you all ready for the last part of this particular mission by September.

Any problems, issues, thoughts feel free to post them. I truly believe that a game like this is a collaborative effort. I am not the ruler, merely the adjutator.

I think the game is moving great and I'm having a ball, personally I don't think we need any new PCs, but if you'd like to add a couple more who am I to argue? Especially if you have someone in mind.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No not really, I just didn't know if you all would feel a hole by Zigel and Kratos being out of the picture. Frankly I'd prefer not to run an NPC, it gets hincky with me doing the other side as it is in battles. If you all are cool with keeping it at the player amount, then by all means I can work with it.

Personally I don't think it's a huge hole, we're down a caster + a familiar, but at this level that's not a huge loss. Now should we ever make level 5-6 then the caster starts kicking ass.

No one else is giving their input for some reason. Am I the consensus?

Yep

All is well.

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Guys, I'm really sorry, but I think I have to be out of this. It is a shame that I must leave what looks to be one of the best PbP sessions on this site but it I have too many commitments at the moment. Rehearsing 4 evenings a week, trying to run a regular face to face and do an Open University degree at the same time is leaving me little enough time to spend with my family. I don't normally get to even look at my computer until gone 10 at night and often I am too tired to read anything.

If you wish I can stay around so that you can write Ffethpaar out gracefully (he wants his nice mug anyway). He may well be having a crisis of conscience and want to achieve his aims by some other means which will involve more of his tribe, or we can think of another reason.

Please forgive my decision. It has been a great introduction to PbP.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Thrugnipp, I am sorry to hear about your scheduling conflicts. If you would like to write out Ffethpaar gracefully we can always have Laralie come back with bad news from his home and him having to return. I enjoyed having your character along for the ride, and I hope that if you find some more time in your schedule you can return. Let me know what you want to do. Having you as part of this wonderful group was an excellent way for me to cut my teeth on DMing a PbP.

Best wishes
Patrick

EDIT: I have written in a suitable bow out for our noble lizard shaman in the game thread. I hope it meets with your approval.

Erm hope im not being rude or presumptuous posting here but I was just wondering if you were looking for any replacement players?

Probably human Bard/5, (tech)wizard/9

Thanks,

I have said my farewells to the Silver Rose membership in the game thread. I haven't made it impossible for Ffethpaar to return, should he sort out his troubled tribe, but it might not be practical.

To the players here, it has been fun and educational. Thanks for your patience with me and I am sorry I need to leave this thread.

Well, let me discuss it Kevin with my players and see how they feel. We have lost two folks, so the party is getting a bit thin. I'll keep you in mind. :)

Later Thrugnipp,

It's been great gaming with you. As you said Ffethpaar hasn't been written out of the story and so it's possible to have a return or even a visit from the lizard folk in the future. Take care, and good luck.

And Thrug, sorry to see you go bro' but I certainly know that priorities are important. Peace!

Is there loot money that was divvied up during my absence?

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

I have no problems with new members either. The only thing I'd ask of new players is that they have some familiarity with the game and don't design characters that are going to badly clash with exciting PCs.

Right now we're down a wizard and a divine caster but I think we could use another tank/meat shield (maybe a barbarian). If you want to pick up another player or two Patrick I have no objections.

Kruelaid wrote:

Um, sort of. We took the items to Melchion to be identified and to purchase some gear to help with the Goblin raid. Melchion offered to broker the sale of the armor and put up some cash to seal the deal. I counter offered to get goods instead.

I missed reading Patrick's response for several days, and didn't catch that he was waiting for me until he gave a status summary. Then I kinda rushed thru a purchase list of scrolls, potions, and low charge wands while I was short on sleep. He suggested and I agreed that in the future purchases would be role played instead.
So there was cash offered, but I took it in gear instead.
The list:
Spoiler:

1-wand (1st-Cure Light; 16 charges; clerical) 240gp
2-wand (1st-Expd. Retreat; 13 charges; arcane) 195gp
3-wand (1st-Obscuring Mist; 3 charges; arcane) 45gp
4-wand (3rd-Ray of Exhaustion; 2 charges; arcane) 450gp
5-wand (2nd-Pyrotechnics; 5 charges; arcane) 450gp
6-wand (1st-Burning Hands; 6 charges; arcane) 90gp
7-potions (1st-Cure Light; 5 potions; clerical) 250gp
8-scroll (2nd-Cure Mod; 1 scroll; clerical) 150gp
9-scroll (1st-Comprehend Lang; 1 scroll; clerical) 90gp
total 1960gp
1,8,9 for Eir or FFethpaar
7= 1 ea. for all
6 for Karrin (partially to see how the Axe feels about other items or fire spells)
2,3,4,5 for Greep (he will share if asked)

Adding new players is fine by me. Were there any alternates in line from the original connection thread?

1,8,9... Roget that.

Thanks dude.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Kevin if you are looking in, looks like there is room for you. I don't remember if there was anyone on as an alternate? Anyone? I don't want to shove someone out of line, but I did a bit of back looking and I couldn't find any requests.

Post a concept here Kevin and we will hash it out. Pretty near anything goes, we have a pretty random lot here.

Dark Archive

Well I already have an idea. Its a concept that admmitadly I used for another Pbp but that died very early on so (didnt get past the first combat) so I never really got to get into it. Also it lets me give you an idea of what I have in mind since I still have the old profile (Merle Barer) Would a catfolk sorcerous be fine?

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

I looked at the character description- I like how you did the Catfolk/Familiar tie in.
I'm just being nosey, but how did you want to do the convert to Pathfinder?

Well Id say under the pathfinder rules a catfolk is a still a +1 lvl adjustment. As for bloodline I would just take the arcane bloodline. (which is nice since I would be changing the background story quite a bit)

Looks pretty good Kevin, but I would ask my more crunchtastic players to take a look as well. I am still a n00b DM with the rules, so forgive me any lapses.

Dark Archive

Heres the background

Spoiler:

Born to a pair of powerfull mages Merle always had a talent for all things arcane whether it was in the casting of spells or the using of magical artifacts she was able to do things that most wizards would need years of study to accomplish. Unfortunatly with these gifts came a sence of superiority and arrogance that she was better than any regular Wizard an opinion only fueled when looking at her twin brother Seph who seemes to lack her natural gifts and was forced to learn magic through the vigours of hard work and study

Eventualy Merle began to grow frustrated of her regular lessons from her parents who she felt did not trully appreciate her talents. After all she had been using magic almost for as long as she was able to walk and talk what did she need lessons in magic use and control she had been doing perfectly fine so far. Frustration grew into anger as time and time again her parents refused to let her practice more dangerous spells but what did they know they were just scared that she would surpass them.

Eventually she decided that she would prove herself by using the magic artifacts that her parents were afraid to use and kept locked away and hidden. Waiting one night till her parents had gone to bed she sneaked down into there warded sanctum and having seen her parents do it many times before was able to bypass all the wards and locks they kept on the artifacts. Reaching for one of the items a small rod she began to try and make use of it. Suddenly the wand began to let off a strange glow and she was blown off her feet as whatever she had done caused the artifact to go haywire smacking her head off the pedestal her vision started to dim as her brother came Seph running into the room as the rod began shooting out strange rays of light in all directions. The last thing she saw before it all went black was one of the rays striking seph just as the rod finaly overloaded.

The first two thing's Merle was aware of upon regaining consiousnes was a cool outdoor breeze on her face as well as a wet feeling on her cheek opening her eyes she found herself outdoors with a little cat licking her face moving to shoo the cat away she stopped upon looking into the cats eyes and felt a horrible sinking sensation in her stomach as she realised who they belonged to.....Her brother Seph now seemed to be nothing more than a common house cat. Even worse looking around she realised her parents home had been turned to rubble and of her parents there was no sign all of which was her fault. If she had only listend to her parents none of this would have happend. Realising she had no way to explain to anyone what had happend she got her brother, gatherd up what megre belongins she could find and fled into the night.

Since that day Merle has been searching for a way to cure Seph all the while getting herself and seph into all kinds of random trouble and adventure.

As requested by D. Monkey, I looked over your stats so far. Everything seems fine with one possible exception. As far as I can figure your skill ranks, you are using Sorcerer as a favored class and taking the +1 skill point. All I have to look over for Catfolk is the 'Races of the Wild' where Ranger is listed as Favored.

In keeping with Pathfinder, a second class would be given as an option for Favored. Also in keeping with Pathfinder, that second class should be one matching a stat bonus. So sorcerer works, though it doesn't match the description of Catfolk as nomadic tribal types who revere nature. Also, your background write-up would imply that sorcerer is not a normal choice for your race.

Since we're talking about the Planes, neither bit is difficult to deal with. Might I propose that your particular brand of Catfolk has long ago left behind their nomadic ways. They have established a thriving culture on your home plane, becoming the dominant race for at least one major kingdom. As they left have their tribal past behind, Arcane casters have replaced Druids as the advisors to the leaders. But the race still preferred a spiritual approach to magic, thus Sorcerers are more culturally Favored than Wizards. (This may be the basis of your parents' doubts of your own sorcery- They struggled for acceptance of their style of magic and now your abilities seem to mock their accomplishments.)

BTW, where does the bonus to Sense Motive come from?

The alertness feat from having a familiar (I know its only if the familiar is in arms reach but I tend to keep my familiar close by more often than not) its also where the +2 to perception comes from. Also as far as I know Ive not taken it as a favored class at all

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

Ah, I missed that. I think this also means you did not consider Sorcerer as a Favored class since you have only spent 8 ranks on skills.

Dark Archive

Ah looking over my skills I think ive found where ive went wrong i think ive added the catfolk racial bonuses wrongly (+2 to listen and +2 to move silently) her skills should be thus

Spoiler:

Bluff 7, intimidate 7, Knowladge (arcane) 6, (planes) 6, perception 2 (6 as long as familiar is in touch range and it is a sound based check), spellcraft 6, stealth 8 (10 if it is a sound based check to be detected), use magic device 7, sence motive 1 (3 as long as familiar is in touch range Oh also dont have any ranks in sence motive but put it in to cover the modifier from alertness)

Dark Archive

niel wrote:

Yeah thats true since as you said since its a non pathfinder race it only has one favored class which is ranger and I diddent want to make sorceror a favored class unless I got an okay from Patrick. If he does give the okay to that ill probably take the +1 to hp

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

Your numbers were right both times, but the second format is easier to understand.

Have you chosen whether you are from the Planes or from a Prime Material world?

Dark Archive

By prime material word do you mean a named setting world or just a large physical planet?

husband half Italian Expert 15 (carpenter 5/ gamer 5/ reader 5)

I mean any Prime Material world, whether it's your own creation or from an established setting.
A Prime (like Karrin and Greep) was raised on Prime Material world and, while they may have ranks in K(Planes), they haven't been exposed to Planar travel their whole life.
A Planar (Like Eir and Swift) grew up on the Planes. Possibly even on Sigil, but often from one of the various Alighment Planes that make up the Great Wheel. Their knowledge of the Planes can be from first hand experience instead of book learning.

Dark Archive

Ah well prime material world then. Her knowladge of the planes is all from book learning.

Male Cat

Merles familiar Seph almost complete and in all of his completly messed up glory

Dark Archive

Merles hp

full hp for first lvl right? so thats 8
and for her second lvl 6 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1723028/
for a grand total of 14 hp (16 if sorceror becomes her favored class)

How much wealth would my charecter be starting with is it just standard charecter wealth for that lvl? Also Patrick are you open to suggestions for introducing my charecter because I have a few if you would like to hear them.

Bribes always welcome

Wow ...good progress Kevin, and thanks for the checkout Niel. I believe we started with 2700 GP, and you could buy anything priced 900 GP and below with it.

As for an introduction, I have an interesting one in mind. There is a catfolk NPC ranger that is a mild love interest of another character. He was recently embroiled in a bit of a dust up. Perhaps I can insert you as a friend/competing love interest of this catfolk gent, and you would have to work with Swift (Kayos' PC) to help him. Let me know what you think!

Poor poor Swift, between Skrint and Emelia her NPCs are giving her such a headache that she keeps forgetting what she's actually supposed to be doing for the Silver Rose! She's not going to be a happy kitty..

Oh wells, at least I'm having fun writing her zany messed up adventures :P
