1. I've got an odd idea or two floating around in my head regarding Silver Rose (as well as Bloodlines & Black Magic)--would it be alright if I sent you a message, either here or over on the Matrix?
Of course. You can either post it here, or if you’d like to pitch it in pvt there’s always messenger.
2. If you ever want to collaborate on something again, let me know. I've been dealing with some severe (music-related) writer's block myself since moving to Iowa, and I feel like I should be doing something creative since my art career performed an unplanned lithobraking maneuver a few years ago.
I’d love to try. Sometimes I need a good idea pitch and a good editor. You fit both roles
Also, I'm still processing how Alessia would respond over here, so please bear with me (have I mentioned she's hard to write outside of combat?). I will do my damnedest to wrap things up soon.
No worries. This format is good for bearing with.

Hey Justin actually thought to call out Murphy’s name. :D
I think I'm doing very good at playing a High INT but Low WIS toon! ;D
(And He was afraid of attracting MORE attention. Until the Demorc pointed out that the cells are pretty much soundproof) ;P
I am but here to entertain.
(Myself first, admittedly. The GM second, and everyone else as soon as I can fit them in!) ;P

Ragadolf |

And yes, Justin is (once again) trying to over complicate things.
"Figuring out' a major Planar wide operation, and why they are picking off Sigilites. When really, it's just a load of lazy Cagers bad guy wannabees nabbing peeps off the streets of, the Cage. :P
(I really am my own toons worst enemy!) >_<
;)

Sent you a lengthy PM

LOL, I was sort of expecting a Star Wars reference,
"Aren't you a little TALL for a stormtrooper"?
;PSOooooo,... whats with the chosen pics being swapped for S M U R F S ?
O_o
There is some sort of smurf trigger, I forget what causes it....... :-)

Storyteller Shadow |

Any mention of Smurf. I accidentally triggered it with ’it’s Murph’ there’s a certain Boolean approximation trigger to any combo that comes close to Smurf.
LOL, I know, tis why I said Smurf!
It's ridiculous but little gems like this are embedded in the site which is fun. Like entitling a Thread at the outset a certain color will have all posts in that color, I believe mentioning snow gets snowflakes, etc.
I don't know all of them but it's part of why Paizo is a fun place to be, when the bards are working anyway...
Pat, you ever hear from that guy about preserving content? I've been too damned busy to follow up, barely enough time to post I/C these days. The move should be (mostly) done at the end of next weekend and I can breathe again.

Patrick Curtin |

I did hear that he had updated his forum capture and has gotten basically the entire message boards backed up. I sent him $50 on CashApp , but the app glitched so im waiting to send it again. I’m currently thinking of setting up a home server of some type to access it for links and such ( and for other stuff as well)

I was just going back through Alessia's stats looking for something, and noticed that I may have made a mistake:
She's got DR 3/- from Armored Defense, and with the Bolstered Resilience feat and immunity to fatigue, she can double it to DR 6/- every round (vs. a single damage source). What I forgot at some point between character creation and starting the game is that she's also got adamantine armor, which grants an additional DR 3/-. I've been playing this whole time as if she's got DR 6/-, when she's actually got DR 12/-. At least, I think that's how it works...

Ragadolf |

Oh yeah. These nasties you’re fighting on the main thread are DR 10/- that’s tough tough tough
I have not investigated the DR #/- stacking.
(OF all my toons, only Justin has ANY DR, his 'Crystal of Least Fortification" which is only DR 1/-)'Only' DR 6/- ?? If I am correct, it applies to each individual attack. (?)
(OR, at least most/some DR does?)
SO getting hit by 6 arrows, it would absorb 6 pts of dmg from EACH arrow, not just 6 dmg from all that hit you in one round. (AM I right?)
So, yeah, arrow proof. ;P
Her I am trying to figure how to boost the wizards AC.
I SHOULD be boosting his DR! ;P
Alessia is not the 'Meat Shield'of the party.
Alessia is the BONE shield! ;)
EDIT- Nevermind. I always read the Chat thread first, Then the Pbp thread. D.King Esq. post pretty much explains DR to a T. ;)

By the way, Sarastra’s abrupt departure is mainly because you picked up a bunch of new NPCs, and it’s going to give me fits running everyone. I remembered that Sarastra had only accompanied you so as to travel in a group to Avalas, where she has other business. So, one less NPC to run.

An interesting article about forever soups
I had known of this method in historical reading, and I had modeled the Copper Cauldron’s ‘Long Brown’ soup on it (forever simmering in the giant copper cauldron on the hearth). But I didn’t realize there were still examples out in the real world.

"Soup of Theseus." Nice.

Apologies in advance, Just in case. (No relation)
Got a busy TWO week rental (The big kids theater group, doing two shows back to back)
2 weeks of Long days and late nights. :(
So if I vanish for a day, (or three) Please forgive me.
On the one hand-
after much arguing with client about whether or not they could have an actual chandelier 'crash' from above the audience onto the stage for their High schoolers doing Phantom, and finding a professional rigger for them to make it happen, and NOW they are mad because the chandelier ACTUALLY (controlled) crashes onto the stage, and NOW they dont want it to ACTUALLY hit the stage (Once the rigging is done, it's too late for that nonsense) because they did not build it correctly for that. (They did NOT ask me or the rigger ONE question, they just built it their way) So Now on top of everything else I'm playing peacemaker/negotiator. :(
On the OTHER hand,
I actually get to see a production of Phantom, complete with 'crashing' chandelier. ;P
Some days, my life is a Soap Opera.
Other days, I'm just chewing soap. ;)
LAters!

In the thick of it for getting ready to move, I'll post up again next Monday the 29th.

Question for Patrick regarding this
Also, did you get the PM I sent you last week?

Patrick Curtin |

Dave:

Patrick Curtin |

I was actually in mind of Pete White from Venture Bros., but about the same

Patrick Curtin |

OK - Alessia and Justin over in the Lonely Watch thread:
This gets a bit complicated now, because dealing with what Alessia knows, and how much she knows is an onus on me. So, I’m interested in some feedback at this point.
Storming Acererak’s citadel city of Moil would be a fitting high-level adventure I’m thinking. One that could easily occupy us for another decade, likely until I’m having my personal AI avatar write most of it while I drool in a nursing home.
How much do we think Alessia would know? Remember, she was a thrall. Basically one step up from mindless undead while ‘working’ for Acererak. She would not be privy to the methods used by Ace to travel and transport his coterie from point A to point B. How much curiosity would Alessia have evidenced during thralldom? Would she have retained any independent agency at all, or basically been an undead robot during that stage?
Input is welcome. I’m still reeling at the challenge ahead to make this arc.

Ragadolf |

Wow. I did NOT see that coming.
I mean, a high-lvl (VERY high lvl) adventure arc re:storming Acererak in the future?
Sure. THAT thought crossed my mind. (For a brief, terrifying moment!) ;P
(As did thoughts of utter PC annihilation if they fail a single saving throw. I've READ (parts of) the Tomb of Horrors thank you!) O_o
But thought that maybe Alessia held, however unknowingly, the key that basically every adventurer with ANY desire for fame and fortune in the Planescape would kill to have, a key, or even a hint, of how to end Acererak once and for all?!?
Nope. Did not think of that. Not once.
I love how your mind works.
(Sure i can see how this might send you into catch-22, 'CIA/FBI/<inset unnamed org here>' levels of conniptions. Right up there with time-travel shenanigans in-game.
But still,... THAT is COOL! :)
OK, one sec,...

Ragadolf |

OK,
First, (Mostly random) thoughts, (Not a complete rationale, just ideas that got strung together) ;)
So Alessia in Thrall mode, probably not much individuality. (If any) No control over her own actions, does what shes told, etc.
BUT,... presuming that Alessia is 'unusual' (As most adventurers are supposed to be) and maintained enough of herself to eventually take back control, (even if it was only because she was left unattended for a century or three),...
So, say when you are taken control of by a mind-control spell or similar, unless the spell says that you have no memory of the event, you REMEMBER everything, you just cannot control yourself and have to follow given orders. Which adds to the RP value after the spell expires.
As opposed to CHARM, which (usually) the suspect does not realize they have been charmed, and only cooperates because they are looking at everything the charmer says and does in the best possible light.
So, a thrall, complete mind control, while serving under orders, it is POSSIBLE that she has seen and been privy to valuable info. Maybe a little, maybe a lot.
I guess the main question is would be whether or not she can REMEMBER any of it.
Was she a mind-blanked thrall? Basically an automaton with skills?
Was she actively awake & fighting her thrall-dom?
Obeying every order, but maybe only to the letter? Not necessarily as her order-er intended?
(Think evil genie granting wishes, you get your wish, but never what you intended)
Somewhere in between?
I think the answer is 'Whatever makes any upcoming adventure involving this fun and interesting', (and not necessarily harder for you!) ;P
While it would be fun to curb-stomp Acererak in one fell swoop, :)
lets be honest, I dont think anyone was actively thinking of THAT when Alessia was rolled up.
(Although if Dave WAS thinking along those lines, Good for him! I dont think that far ahead!) ;P
Maybe ALessia started as mind-blanked thrall, and slowly worked her way back into control, (?) so the info she can recall would be from later, as she began to 'awaken'. Even though she still had to follow orders, her mind was active and working on how to free herself, starting to remember where she was, what she was doing, etc etc.
Just thoughts.

Yeah, I'm not that smart. My entire design process was "build a damage sponge maximizing DR and resistances at 10th level," and for a character concept, "I dunno, maybe an undead paladin?" I put together a stat block and some concept art, sent them over to Patrick, and he came up with the entire backstory.
As far as where to go from here is concerned, I sent Patrick some very loose ideas a week or two ago, but I'm up for pretty much whatever. You guys are far better writers than I am, and definitely more creative. I'm just happy to be along for the ride.
