So, something has crept up on me. I should’ve mentioned it before, but it’s kind of been out of my mind. I’m going on vacation next week, and I’m not sure how much connectivity I will have since I’ll be out of the country. If I get a chance to update, I will but if not, updates will have to wait until the Monday after next.
Have safe and fun travels! :)
Works for me, as MY week will be busy (Week long large rental on my stage) so my time will be limited, and I'll be mentally exhausted even if i find any. ;P
I go with the flow! :)

But if you were to ask me about GM's in general,... Yep. That'd be it. ;P
Heh, OK, I won't fib.
That second one frightens me a little (LOT) more than the first! ;)

Sorry to hear about your family catching COVID. May the symptoms be mild and swift. I am still waiting for my eventual infection. It is basically endemic now, and the horse is definitely out of the barn with containment.
I’m still working on getting up to speed. Please keep tuned
So, it finally happened 18 months after I posted this. I have COVID. I guess I should feel lucky, I was spared until now. It is unfortunate as I just came off vacation, so I am behind in posting. However, my brain is beginning to function in a possibly rational manner again, so I am hoping to get some work done tomorrow on updating.

I call b&%@@@&!, what DM has a brain that functions in a rational manner? We need irrationality to put this much effort into something we don't get paid to do!

Not surprised, but I'm glad that if you had to get it, it's when the virus seems far less devastating and there's better treatment, vaccines etc in place. I think we're going to be looking at a spike again soon.
Friends of mine in key positions in different government agencies in Europe have all pointed out a sudden increase in stockpiling PPE, vaccines and equipment in the last month, and steady order increases, when I mentioned we might go to France next year.
And as we've seen, thanks to international travel, a spike anywhere is pretty much a spike everywhere now.

Sorry to hear that.
I recently caught it again too. But it wasn't ANYWHERE near as bad as the first time I caught it.(That was pretty bad. I will not lie) But now? Everyone I know or hear of that tests positive all say it is just like having the cold. Maybe a light Flu.
And I'm not convinced that the tests can really tell the difference between the three! ;P
Hey, get better soon!
Oh, yeah, AND I second Shadow calling %$ ! There is NOTHING rational in what we do!
(FUN!, yes, but not rational!) ;P

Yeah, it presented to my system as flu. At least, that was the impression I got. It was weird to lose my taste and smell for three days. I am improving, and I’m back to monitoring the threads. I am also excited that I found the perfect challenge for y’all.
Yep, thats what happened to me (The FLU stuff, not the losing taste/smell. That hasn't happened to me since the first time I caught it)
And I'm hearing thats what most people are reporting. A lot don't even realized they had Covid, they thought they had a cold or flu.Glad to hear you are improving!
Hey, If I'm reading your posts right, at least the trip was over and done before you got ill yes? SO at least you got to enjoy your vacation first! :)
OK<... (Those movies always bugged me as a kid. As in 'scared me') 0_0
That clip is ALSO the players reaction when they realize the DM has had an idea that makes him happy! :)

Hi folks. Yet another update. It seems like my schedule for posting - at least battle posting - seems to be falling mostly in the Thurs-Fri zone. I will still update when there isn’t major number crunching to do on other days, except Saturday and Sunday which seem to be the worst days now.
Thank you all for staying the course with me. I appreciate it. :)

I'll update Hanar tonight, RL still keeping me super busy.
Make that tonight, I got too sleepy last night to post for Hamar. Plus now that he can fly I have to think about what i want to do!

I've been reading a lot of Neil Gaiman recently, and it gave me the boost I needed to finally get around to updating over here. Alessia's going to need some help from our favorite Harry Dresden lookalike.
One question: when is that story happening chronologically in relation to the main and sidequest threads?

The timeline there is a bit tight. I had inferred that it was occurring at the same time that Justin had his incident with O.L.L.I. Though there is no reason we can’t say Justin goes to grab a bite after the meeting and encounters Alessia there. Or if Alessia was at the meeting, perhaps she asks to speak with Justin after.
Also, there is always retconning. I could have her head out overnight and look for Justin that morning.

Either way works. I'm OK with the timeline being fuzzy, I more just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be accidentally referencing something that technically happened in the future.

By the way Rags, this series I just discovered might intrigue you:
Dead Things.
It’s like the Dresden Files, only much darker and grittier. Best part is there are already about 10 books in the series. I’m on #3 now.

Oooo, interesting,
And a qualified reference from the Monkey GM himself.(Whose PREVIOUS reference of a certain Druid Series was Spot on and very enjoyable!) ;)
And as I am always looking for a(nother) filler series while waiting for my next Dresden Files fix,... I must check this out!
Thanks Pat!

Writing dialog for Alessia is hard. It runs so counter to how my brain works... Every time I have to write something in her voice, this is all I can think of.

David M Mallon |

I may need a memory nudge here. Does Justin already know WHO turned Alessia into what she is now? OR just that a wizard did this to her? I don't recall that far back ;P (TO be fair, I don't recall what I had for lunch yesterday, most days.) I am going to go on as if she mentioned the name already. ;)
I did a quick search through the threads-- I don't believe Alessia told anyone other than Mara and the Dustmen librarian.

"You want to know how to END him. Right?"
I know this is a serious scene, but this sequence of words triggered an automatic meme response.

Wow. I did NOT know that.
(I, the stage-combatant, am ashamed of myself right now) ;P

Yeah sword fighting FReals was a lot different than what we’ve seen in movies. The one thing that throws me is the gripping of the blade to make an attack:
Mordhau

Very true!
there is also a technique where when grab your blade for att or def, you then turn the large sword around, grab the blade in both hands, and use it like a hammer! :PNever understood the reasoning behind it, but it looks cool when you replicate it in staged combat scenarios. :)
Also, I have learned that the movie swordfighting (the OLD movies, at any rate, the 'Hollywood heyday') Which SAFD now refers to as "Single Sword', was completely made up and reflects NO historical forms whatsoever.
(And before you ask, NO it was NOT 'just Rapier and Dagger without the dagger') ;P
Probably one of the reasons that is one of my favorite weapon to use in stage combat. ;)
It has been a trend in recent decades to hire actual Rl swordfighters, or SAFD (Society of American Fight Directors) trained actor-combatants who have studied various styles, to make the movies more authentic looking.
THEN I can tell you some stories about how the directors RUIN their own efforts by insisting that fight scenes take place in a tight, (VERY CLOSE) frame shot (with Broadswords!), or wanted the swords to move faster, so they cut the blades off all the swords for the big fight scene, and added them back in via CGI. :P
(No. I can't make this stuff up.)
