Wow, first IC post in a LOOONG time.

Thread surgery for the win! :)

meanwhile, back in the RL world,...

OI vey,
It never rains, but it pours!

FYI all, not only am I my usual busy, but I caught Covid. Again. :(

So if I vanish (Again) it aint on purpose I swear! :)

~Rags

LOL, I shouldve thought to ask BEFORE I typed it up, but sometimes my IC ideas get ahead of my RL ideas. (Which is what tends to get my character into trouble, isnt it?!?) ;P

Just trying to make sure that I have as much success with this scroll as possible, (Then realized that I think we found a scroll of a spell lvl I can cast, so 'reading ' it properly isnt really an issue) ;P

Was going to ask Merle to read over it with me, (not casting it, just 'reading' it) to make sure I was getting everything right.

I'll just go back and delete that last line or so of my post,... it was fun RP, but not needed. :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah it should be pretty much a no brainer

Did you just describe Justin? ;P

EDIT- (OR his player. Either way.) ;)

Apologies, was unexpectedly without internet for a few days due to a storm. May be spotty for the next few due to new job & moving to new apartment, but will get all threads updated ASAP.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No worries. I’m just starting to get back to regular posting myself

Sorry too.
RL is,... ARRRGH!

Catching up. :)

OH Hamar,...

I dont know whether to facepalm, laugh, cry, or all three! ;P

I missed this guys! :)

Nah go with it. Gaming is a collaborative improv. You can always tell me in the OOC thread what you have in mind

My thoughts: Alessia was stuck on the Negative Energy Plane for a little over a hundred years, and she was about 40 when she died in the Tomb of Horrors, which leaves about 250 years unaccounted for. I'd figured she'd have spent that time trying to track down Acererak (and picking up a replacement shield). Acheron seems like a likely spot to try hunting for information about lich lords and finding demonic-looking mithral shields.

Your thoughts?

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Sounds grand! It would be an excellent tie-in. Let's say that ALessia passed through this place when the area was more staffed with Hobgoblin petitioners. Perhaps she knows the layout of the citadel a bit.

Sorry for continued vanishing act.
I'm keeping up best as I can. Honest. :)

RL is just being SO,... ARGH! right now.
A real.
Pain.
In.
The.
@$$.
(Literally)

Busy at work? Check.
Son college orientation this week? Check.
I RUN the Auditorium where they HOLD Orientation? AND my workers are ALL getting sick? DOUBLE Check.

And, just because you are all online friends. And I'm an oversharer anyway,...;P
(Only read if you really wanna know how someone is doing when you ask "How are you?!?") ;P

Spoiler:

SO let's play "Good news/Bad news with Rags!"
BAD news- Rags has Cancer. Again. (Prostate this time.)
GOOD news- It is the least aggressive kind I could have, AND it is so small an amount it was almost missed by the testing samples.
BAD news- good or bad, the treatment is the same. Only the urgency of the treatment changes. :P And surgery recovery is measured in weeks. I dont have weeks I do not have something happening at work. :(

So, I WILL be fine. Guaranteed.
It's like taxes. You pay them all through the year, but you STILL have to do the paperwork to prove it. ;P
Same thing. Basically.

SO, If i vanish (again) I apologize in advance. Just dealing with LIFE. Positive and otherwise.

See you in the game! :D

Shadow's Status

Ah jeez, well, glad you are positive and the outcome looks positive too!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

We're all rooting for you Rags.

as an aside, if I ever have this game made into an animated program, Karl Urban will be voicing Shactal the drunken Ice devil librarian. In his Billy Butcher voice.

Oh damn, that's bad news Rags, but I hope you manage to deal with this and make a full recovery

Thx all, To quote a famous barbarian, "I'll be baack!"

As I mentioned, I'll be fine. Just gonna hate the hoops I'll have to jump through to get to the finish line. :( But it could always be worse.

I know not all of you are religious, but in my humble opinion, this is yet more proof that God watches out for idiots, nerds and gamers. (Hey, Three outta three! I'm gonna be fine!!) ;)

I keep thinking that I want to watch The Boys, (friends and reviews keep pointing out that it;s PROBABLY not my thing) but I havent gotten to it yet, But I do like some of the actors that I have seen are in it.

ALTHOUGH, if you DO ever get around to making this thread an animated adventure, I nominate myself for the voice of a certain stubborn wizard. ;P

(Type-casting for the win!) :)

I'll be seeing you as often as work and RL allows.
Looks like Im going to just jump in and get this done mid-late August.

once I'm able to sit up again after that, ;P I will have 3-4 weeks of having to stay at home, so I should be able to keep up for a while. :)

Have a good week all, and Happy Fathers day! (I grilled meat. I win again!) ;)

I am an atheist but I'm very glad your religion sustains you, especially in these trying times. It's dealing with things like this were I can appreciate the power of faith, also being able to say to someone "I'll pray for you" or something like that is a nice gesture, but I can still hope for the best and send you my well wishes. Hopefully you won't be sidelined too long and can get in from time to time to let us know how you're doing if nothing else. Karrin might have to step up her posting now that our wizard is going to be taking time of.

I've been reading about 40 pages of back posts in the process of regaining my bearings, and I can't believe I didn't notice a particular nugget of information regarding Justin's origin...

Well played.

Well played indeed. I too totally missed that Easter egg. Probably because I erased that movie from my brain after watching

ROFL,
Yeah, I'm not saying that it's 'the best fantasy movie ever', or anything like that,. (There were plenty of cheesy(ier) fantasy 80's movies that were better) but I enjoyed it for what it was.
And when I am frantically writing faster than my brain could make stuff up, I tend to fall back on what I already know. :)

And, in it;s own strange way, it really DOES fit into Justin's background story. Better than I had thought.

Whether that's just lucky, or I mentally melded my writing to match what was in my memory, who knows?!? ;P

Thank you Guy, Believe me, whether you share my faith or not, I DO still appreciate the well-wishes. :)

It is the thought that counts, and knowing that my online amigos are sending positive vibes my way is very much welcome! :)

THATS what I'm trying to say! :)
Whether you are a person of faith, or just believe in karma, POsitive energy is positive energy.
And I'll take all I can get right now. :)

FYI- Procedure is now set (Barring any approval complications, !@#$ insurance is trying to deny paying for the test that discovered the cancer. saying 'It is not proven to improve health care or quality of life' and 'your policy does not cover exploratory procedures', I smell B$) It will take place mid-August.

So almost 2 months to get my core in the shape it was PRE-covid. :)
(I'm telling myself getting back in shape will make recovery easier/faster.)

Well, may you be bathed in positive energy as if you were taking a dip in the Radiant Sea (NO! DON'T! IT'S A META..... *BOOM*)

ROFL!

Yep. That'd be JUST my luck too. ;P

Oh boy,
Thx for the memory tip! (Side quest thread)

Forget my toon, I need to take some Ginko Bolboa or memorex or something! ;P

Just a note,
Forgot to mention that I am leaving early in teh AM to see my Oklahoma family for a week.

I will try to check in, but personal/internet time will probably be minimum at best.

I'll for certain catch up when I get back!

Happy 4th of July grilling to all! :)

just going to retvon this a bit. I should have addressed this earlier

"I know someone who would be interested in that chant. Mayhap he could help with the issue of the masks as well."

Renkar ponders

"He's an odd duck. An illithid , but also a Lich. The proper name foe his type is Alhoon. He studies the secrets of death, but he's no Dustman. He's an independent researcher. Goes by the name of
Bloolp. I think you might get some answers from him."

Oh wow. SO much I have forgotten!

(I need to get back to compiling the 'journals'.) ;)

BTW, I AM back. (Physically, at any rate)
Had a nice visit with family, made it back safe, etc. Just had to jump straight back into work. (Big surprise)

Jumping in and catching up!

Hope all are well!

~Rags

Oh my gosh, even the parts that should be the 'boring' part of the movie in my head are awesome with you guys! :)

I LUV IT!

(Now I am just going to go and see if I can find the pages where we met 'Rotting Jack',... and I will be RIGHT back to answer that question!) ;)

Have I mentioned that i Luv this game?

Recently? :)

EDIT- Found it!
I met Rotting Jack the day prior.

Seems like much longer. ;)

(Thank you for the memory jump!)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Well, In our time it was a year. Me taking 10 months off didn’t help

LOL, it didnt hurt either! ;)
We all need a break from time to time.

(I really need to get back to work on the journal. Every time I flip back to a former page, I enjoy it all over again.) :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I do have to say, I really do enjoy rereading the pages. It’s a great ensemble cast, and you all have had some pretty fascinating adventures in the past.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

What I really need to do is get it all into archive.org just in case. If the site 404ed I’d cry.

OMG yes! I would cry too!

This MUST be preserved! For posterity! ;)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Well, anyone can request pages to be archived. We have like 5,000 to do ….

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Oh, and for everyone’s info - under the ‘Campaign Info’ tab of the main game is a series of links I have made to various points in the story. I did a bit of research, and I discovered this below:

Dungeon Monkey wrote:

Rhiannon's sally hits home. The massive worm jerks and falls, its granitic bulk crashing backwards into the desert with a satisfying *THUD*

The teenaged boy walks up to them, smiling

"You have once again saved me heroes. Thank you for all that you have done. "

The scene dissolves around them and they all find themselves observing a scene without being physically present, as if watching a detailed scrying. The place is a void of dull leaden silver color, almost a null color that warps perspectives. In the distance odd islands of matter drift. Their perspective hones in on one.

The island is a roughly shaped statue of colossal size. The perspective zooms closer and the details if the massive statue blur as they observe an elderly band of men hewing stones from the island. A voice speaks, and an image of the boy appears, now grown elderly.

"My last priests. They escaped the wrath of Nol and brought my worship to your city. They sacrificed much and more to travel to my corpse in the Astral Plane. They thought by hewing shards of my matter they would help increase my worship so that I could live again. Instead..."

the old man sighed

"they doomed my final essence to entrapment in the Cage. Not a god, not mortal, not dead, not alive. I have waited many long years for a group such as you to come, to fulfill my destiny, aid you, and be free."

The image holds up a shining white gem

"This is my last divine spark. You will need it soon. Evil is coming. An evil unremembered. In stranger Aeons, even death may die. But death is only a beginning for some. Thank you all, and go with my blessing as I go on to my next incarnation.

The old man smiles, and fades. The scene follows suit and suddenly the group finds themselves back in the abandoned temple. The raucous fight between the signers and Athar is still ongoing. The large glowing gem sits on the rubble-strewn floor

actions?

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Also, this is where the circlet was mentioned. It kind of got ignored because someone wanted more cowbell

Human Wiz 12 (Evocation)

OH MYGOSHYES!

(I REEEEEEEELY luv this thread!)

And, really, can you EVER have TOO much cowbell??? ;P

In our haste to depart that room, and eventually realm, we never did (in character) ID the circlet, did we? :P

JUST in case you want say we got around to it while divvying up the loot? :)

Spellcraft w/ Detect Magic running:
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28

Yeah. THIS might be a group effort,... ;P

Man, Karrin never got to go back and ring that bell.

LOL!
"Come on Baby ring my bell!"

um,... No.

Just,... No.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

So I'm currently in the hospital. Bug bite on my ankle resulting in a bad allergic reaction that was headed toward septic.

Might be a bit slow posting

Oh, Goodness.
I hope it gets better quick!

Bug bites suck. ;P

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Ugh! Feel better and quick recovery!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

So I did a bit of a big reveal. I would have liked it to be a bit less railroady, but a lot of time has passed, and a lot of things have changed.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Also - it’s been a while. You folks should level up to 12. You’ll need it

Wow that blew up fast, sorry for the delays been a bit crazy with Holidays, my Birthday, a death in the family, will try and catch up this week.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No worries Shadow, this is a laid-back part with discussions. No fighting or the like
