A brief outline adventure for your Super Hero role playing game of choice. Torn right from the headlines. O.k. Maybe not right out of the headlines…I added some stuff. I need to flesh out some details, but I thought I would share in case someone might find something useful.
The PCs are contacted by Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security. Secretary Chertoff informs the PCs that CNN correspondent Soledad O’Brien and her crew have been captured by Colombian rebels, specifically the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC). They are demanding $5M for her release. Obviously, policy is not to negotiate with terrorist, and the AUC is classified as a terrorist organization. All of the US’s special forces are tied up in Afghanistan and Iraq. Colombia’s forces are tied up fighting the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). It is up to the heros to rescue Mrs. O’Brien and her comrades.
Secretary Chertoff provides the PCs with the general location where they believe the AUC is operating from and if the PCs need, he can airlift them into Colombia. Once the PCs are in Colombia, allow them an opportunity to locate the rebels. Any PC with tracking might spot tracks left by a band of rebels. A PC with telepathy might be able to do a mental search. Flying PCs can scout the area.
Once the PCs locate the rebels, allow them an opportunity to plan a rescue. It is possible that the rebels can be negotiated with, although it is unlikely the PCs would offer anything the rebels would want. It should be fairly simple for the PCs to mow their way through this small band of rebels. The problem is that Mrs. O’Brien’s crew is here, but she is not. She was kidnapped from the kidnappers two days ago by a group of Muisca. Muisca is a native civilization thought destroyed by Spanish explorers in the 16th century. The PCs will have to figure out what to do with Mrs. O’Brien’s crew while they go looking for Mrs. O’Brien herself.
Once again, allow creative players to locate the Muisca home. The Muisca have awakened their great sun god, Sue. They plan to sacrifice Mrs. O’Brien to Sue. Insert earth-shattering battle with ancient god here.
