Hehehe. Mitnal may want to check for a fumble on that first roll (roll the attack again).

This story springs into my mind as I watch Kenzo attack.

Feeling particularly useless I cheer my fellow on; "Go, Kenzo!"

Then I mutter to myself; "Garazz, kafar" and beckon with my hand( cast mage hand) calling the starknife back to me.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo continues to press the attack, encouraged by his friends. Perhaps overly confident after landing such a solid kick, his hands lash out in a rapid succession of strikes, but none seem to have any substantial impact on the enraged wildcat.

Flurry of Blows
Attack 1d20=5+1=6, 1d6=4+1=5,
Attack 1d20=8+1=9, 1d6=3+1=4

Male Human Fighter 1

trying to press the attack, I swing downwards at the cat's head with all my might. "never did trust these little furry things," I mutter.

attack (1d20 +7=16)

damage? (1d8 +3=10)

Eugen's blade cuts down the cat but from behind the group a high pitched goblin voice chants out strange and arcane words. The plants beneath the feet of the party begin to twine and twist themselves over the boots and shoes of each member. A thorny branch reaches out to capture Mitnal's hammer arm.

Reflex safe from each.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Worried that the cat may get the upper hand on her companions due to its savagery, Jessa briefly considers trying to draw her bow and prepare to fire on it. But then she realizes the close confines of the thistle patch might make that more difficult. Instead, she moves to draw her dagger. But she does so with such a hasty motion that it literally flies from her hand.

'No!' she thinks, immediately reaching to grab it before the dagger tumbles into the dirt. But then, even she's surprised to see it stop in mid-air and hover before her outstretched hand.

Eyes widening, the wizardess realizes she can wield the weapon by concentrating and willing it to move as she directs.

'By the gods!' she wonders, 'What strange trickery is this? I never prepared these spells!'

OOC: Jessa is now invoking her hand of the acolyte for the first time. It lets her draw the weapon as a free action. She then spends a moment (her move action) fascinated by it, before realizing she can actually direct it in battle.

Jessa's eyes once again focus on the wildcat struggling with her companions. With a mental nudge she launches the dagger at it, bringing it up and over Mitnal's shoulder to attack from above the fray.

Attack with dagger using hand of the acolyte... 1d20+3 = 22 to hit
Damage... 1d4+2 = 3 hp
Confirm critical threat... 1d20+3 = 7 to hit
No critical hit.

Jessa thus stabs a very dying and inert cat. And she needs to make a reflex safe.

"Aiiiee! Look out!" Jessa screams a warning, "He's charmed the plants to do his bidding!"

Reflex save... 1d20+3 = 22

She quickly retreats far enough to escape the area affected by the goblin's magic, but maintains her focus on the floating dagger to challenge him without crossing the churning thistles.

Struggling to avoid the grasping plants I spin around, looking for the goblin whose voice we can hear.

Eugen is stuck. Each of the others who have rolled are reduced to moving at half speed as the ground continues to try and hold them.

There is a goblin behind Jessa (Who did not actually move very far to avoid the briars) with fire in his hand and anger on his face.

"Me name is Gogmurt of Thistletop. You killed me cat," hisses the goblin with narrow eyes, "...prepare to die."

Kenzo still has to make the saving throw.

"Aiiieee!" Jessa offers another scream, totally surprised that a goblin managed to get behind them. She's even more concerned at the sight of the fire wielded in his hand.

The wizardess struggles to pull her feet free of the grasping roots and thistle branches to get out of the entanglement spell's area of effect. And with a mental prodding, she also sends the hovering dagger after Gogmurt in an attempt to harry the goblin before he can unleash more of his dangerous wilderness magic.

"S!%+," Kenzo responds to the sound of the voice behind him.

Turning and seeing the goblin in their midst, Kenzo draws and throws a dagger, hoping to silence him before others are alerted, as he tries to close the distance between himself and the spell caster.

Attack 1d20=12+5=17, Damage 1d4=1+1=2

I'll wait on Eugen and Mitnal before posting results of actions.

Male Human of the Shoanti Shriikirri-Quah Tribe Barbarian 3

Mitnal's feeling a bit stupid at being tricked by a goblin but the opportunity to beat up a goblin cheers him up. If Mitnal is able to get close enough, he will attack with his warhammer but not his klar this time.

1d20+5=19, 1d8+2=10

Mitnal could charge the goblin (which is thirty feet from him) except for both Jessa and Gyorgy being in his way. He can move past them, but doing so takes a double move (not a charge) and thus eats up his attack.

Okay, Mitnal gets as close as he can and I will roll for an attack next round.

Male Human Fighter 1

I thought because I was entangled i couldn't do anything, I'll roll attack and damage just in case, but it's not clear to me what my options are.

attack (1d20 +7=26)

damage (1d8 + 3=4)

crit (1d20=4)

if there are no enemies to attack, i will try to free myself from the vines

Not really a spoiler, just a few quotes explaining the rules and your options.

Spoiler:

SRD wrote:

Entangled

The character is ensnared. Being entangled impedes movement, but does not entirely prevent it unless the bonds are anchored to an immobile object or tethered by an opposing force. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a -2 penalty on all attack rolls and a -4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a Concentration check (DC 15 + the spell’s level) or lose the spell.

and from the spell:

SRD wrote:

The creature can break free and move half its normal speed by using a full-round action to make a DC 20 Strength check or a DC 20 Escape Artist check.

Eugen Enescu wrote:

I think you're probably better served to use that last roll as your Strength check to break free (because it should still beat a DC 20 with your STR bonus added on). Then, you can get moving at half-movement and join the fray without any penalties on your attacks next round.

We'll just assume that Eugen spends the round freeing himself.

Eugen, a bit confusedly, works to tear the vines and grass from his limbs.

Mitnal, feeling like he is wading through a thick snow or water, moves with force past Gyorgy and Jessa, closing with the goblin.

Gyorgy's divine fire misses, sizzling into the vines some five feet behind the goblin. The goblin also deftly evades the floating knife, his little beady eyes glowering the whole time. Only Kenzo's thrown blade finds a mark but it is not a telling blow and the goblin seemingly ignores the small slice along his arm.

Mitnal sees now that there is a fire in each of the goblin's hands. A small ball of fire is clutched in his left hand and a glowing beam of flame is clutched in the other.

The goblin slices at Mitnal with the glowing beam.
Flame Blade: (1d20+3=13)
Damage: (1d8+2=3)

The fire burns with a great heat, searing Mitnal (who also needs to make a reflex save, DC 15 to avoid catching on fire.).

The goblin sneers, "You will all die."

shall i reuse the last attack rolls or roll again?

I struggle to attack to goblin attacking mitnal, if possible I move to flank.

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

Jessa wills her knife to strike again as she calls out, "You're the one who dies today! Your evil plans will be undone!"

Attack with dagger using hand of the acolyte... 1d20+3 = 16 to hit
Damage... 1d4+2 = 3 hp

Male Human of the Shoanti Shriikirri-Quah Tribe Barbarian 3

Mitnal, sluggish and frustrated, swings a bit earlier that he intended and overextends himself a bit.

1d20+5=19, 1d8+2=4

Eugen, hampered by the plants still grabbing at him, can only move at half speed. He can't attack the goblin this time but he moves close enough to attack next round. Getting into a flank position will provoke an attack of opportunity on the part of the goblin.

Mitnal attacks, striking the goblin a glancing blow.

Gyorgy misses

Jessa's dagger, flitting around, just manages to get inside the goblin's parrying, but the blow is slight.

Kenzo's turn. Eugen and Mitnal are both in the way for him to move into melee this turn. But he can move out of the entangling and around Eugen if he desires to move.

Male Human Fighter 1

should i re roll?

Not for this round. If someone wants to suggest an action for Kenzo, go ahead.

Male Human Monk 3
DM Wicht wrote:

Kenzo hurls one more dagger as he continues to move through the entangled area so he can come alongside the fire-wielding goblin and support Mitnal.

Ranged attack w/ thrown dagger... 1d20+5 = 20 to hit
Damage... 1d4+1 = 3 hp

That's Kenzo's last dagger, I believe. He's now down to longsword and unarmed strikes.

The dagger hits the goblin.

In turn, the goblin snarls and swings his glowing weapon at Mitnal once more.
Flaming Sword: (1d20+3=21)
Damage: (1d8+2=3)

Though the contact is light, the heat is intense.

Mitnal now needs to make 2 reflex saves.

The goblin then turns and flees towards the briars to the north, provoking attacks from Mitnal and Eugen.

Male Human Monk 3
DM Wicht wrote:

And Kenzo as well? The monk has spent the past two rounds moving toward the goblin while hurling daggers. Was he unable to get within melee range due to Mitnal and Eugen crowding things?

Male Human Fighter 1

i attack and then try to run after the goblin.

"hey, you can't just run away!"

We'll use Eugen's roll from before. And sure, Kenzo can have an attack of opportunity as well. Rolls?

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Moving to close the distance between himself and the goblin spell caster as quickly as possible, Kenzo stretches to land a kick squarely so as to stun him and keep him from fleeing.

Stunning Attack 1d20=19+3=22, Damage 1d6=2+1=3

The goblin is fleeing up towards S11.

Primarily, I think we need to see what results from the attacks of opportunity taken by Eugen and Kenzo, especially since the monk went for a stunning blow. Also, Mitnal was eligible for an AoO as well, but after failing his second Reflex save, maybe his attention is on putting out the fire rather than taking a swing on the retreating goblin?

Good point, if he's stunned i'll be doing something rather different.

Fortitude Save: (1d20+6=24)

The goblin was not stunned. Eugen's attack of opportunity barely fazed him. And he is now out of sight in the briars to the north.

EDIT: Also, in the interest of speeding along, I decided that Mitnal's failure to post an attack was a failure to take it. Something akin to the six second rule I sometimes use at the table. Does Jessa take an action this round? :)
