Eugen Enescu |

DM Wicht |

Jeslara "Jessa" Eventide |

Relieved to see Gyorgy and Eugen starting to eliminate some of their adversaries...and that Mitnal, the brave barbarian, seems fully capable of defending himself...Jessa keeps her illusion going. Just to provide a bit of variation, she has the imaginary Shoanti warriors jab with their spears in an effort to make it seem like they're only barely holding back the goblin-dog and its rider.
'I can't believe this is working!' she thinks to herself, relishing her role in providing a deception to fool the goblins, while continuing to weave and shape the illusion on the other side of the bridge.

Gyorgy Elberion |

Feeling strangely safe for a man on the edge of a ravine fighting goblins I send my next attack at a goblin dog threatening Mitnal.
df at goblin dog (1d20+4=12, 1d6+1=2)
hm, chances of a touchAC that low are slim...

Mitnal |

Mitnal shifts his stance and starts to work more aggressively with the klar and hammer. He focuses both attacks on one of the dogs. He allows his song to build his fighting spirit.
"Bring down your klar,
and cut off the hands,
of any chelish thief,
who would steal your lands!
Raise up the hammer,
bring down the klar,
show these bastard Chelish,
what true Shoanti are ..."
It doesn't bother him that he's not actually fighting Cheliaxians but goblins and that the goblins aren't invading his lands but he is invading theirs. These are small points and a battle is no time to quibble over semantics.
Mitnal enters his rage -- 2 rage points spent. He's no longer fighting defensively.

Kenzo |

Kenzo waivers off a moment of what feels like schizophrenia, and despite the heat of combat, he can't help but grin at Mitnal's singing. Although well trained in combat, he has never heard of someone singing while they fight, and fight he does. Despite his movement being limited between his two friends, Kenzo sees an opening and lunges for a thrust with his long sword. The goblin dog is quicker, however, and the young monk misses.

DM Wicht |

While the one goblin dog continues to try and interact violently with an illusion, the other one continues to snap and growl at Mitnal. Fortunately for the Barbarian, Kenzo's sword thrust gave it enough pause that its attacks attempts are pretty feeble.
The goblins each grip their dog slicers uncertainly.
In goblin, one says to the other,
And with that, both goblins shreik and turn to flee westward along the side of the stockade.

DM Wicht |

Mitnal |

Mitnal attempts to bring down another of the dogs.
3 rage points gone.
1d20+5=7, 1d8+4=7, 1d20+3=17, 1d6+4=10
Breaking off his song he shouts, "Don't let them get away!"
If his dog is dead, he will pursue.

Gyorgy Elberion |

I start to cross the bridge and fire a burst of divine fire at the dog fighting Mitnal as I go.
divine fire at goblin dog again (1d20+4=5, 1d6+1=4)
But the swaying bridge upsets my nerve and I am too busy staying stable to aim well.

You did notice that your heavenly fire hit the dog in the last round and did nothing to it - right?

DM Wicht |

Mitnal and Eugen both dispatch a dog, allowing Kenzoe to chase freely after the fleeing goblins.
There is quite a bit of vegetation around the old fort, but there is a well traveled path leading from the front door and around the sides, through the thorny growth.
Kenzo swiftly overtakes the smaller goblins.

The roll was a miss anyway. We'll call it heat of the battle.
Gyorgy has lost perspective and doesn't realise that the dogs only act after their masters' bidding.
All of his foes are evil.
Realising that is wrong might be an important lesson.

Jeslara "Jessa" Eventide |

With the dogless goblins in full retreat, Jessa finally allows her illusory warriors to fade, hoping Mitnal and/or Eugen can help chase after Kenzo.
As for herself, she turns her attention to Gogmurt, the dying goblin spellcaster on her side of the bridge.
"C'mon, you!" she mutters, "We need information. And you're the most likely goblin we've seen that could shed some light on what's going on..."
Jessa tries to stabilize him, searching for some way to staunch the bleeding. Finally, she just presses her hand over the wound. But then she's surprised by the divine radiance that soon appears.
Jessa casts stabilize for the first time.
'This is all very strange,' Jessa thinks as her eyes widen, 'One of the gods must surely favor me. But who? Who would take an interest in me? It has to be someone willing to stand against Lamashtu. Could it be Desna? Or someone else? I must research these blessings and rituals when we get back to Sandpoint...IF we get back to Sandpoint.'
For DM:
FYI: I'm going to go with the idea that Jessa's new patron...i.e., Sivhana...is somewhat mysterious in how she provides divine spells and abilities to Jessa. Basically, as a goddess of illusions and trickery, Sivhana clouds and masks who she is...and how and why she's helping her newly-chosen priestess until the time is right to properly reveal herself.
And, in the meantime, Jessa has a plausible explanation for how these abilities have manifested...and a reason to further research her growing faith. I hope that's okay? I want to go with something that helps the story and the character develop.

DM Wicht |

As Kenzo catches up to the goblins they stop and with a savage cry throw themselves towards him.
Goblins attack Kenzo: (1d20=13) Attacking Kenzo: (1d20=7)
Fortunately for the young monk, he is able to stop before impaling himself on their rusty dogslicers and having stopped he leaps back from a particularly vicious cut.

DM Wicht |

Jessa stabilizes the goblin spell caster, keeping him from dying, wondering where this divine energy is springing from.
Jessa:
Mitnal cannot see Kenzo and the goblins but he can hear them. Eugen can see the back of Mitnal.
Goblins on the Island - round 10
Mitnal: Initiative - 21 -8 hp (I5)
Eugen: Initiative - 20 [
Kenzo: Initiative - 19 -1 hp
Gyorgy: Initiative - 19
Jessa: Initiative - 15
Goblins: Initiative - 14 Shaken;

Jeslara "Jessa" Eventide |

Jessa:Spoiler:Jessa's dilemma is fine but don't push it too far. She does need to use a holy symbol for several of her clerical spells and abilities - like channeling positive energy.
For DM:

Kenzo |

DM Wicht |

Kenzo misses with his attack.
Goblins attacking Kenzo: (1d20=13, 1d20=16)
Damage: (1d6=2)
The goblins begin trying to flank Kenzo. They don't quite succeed but they distract him enough to allow one of them to slice him with the little beast's dogslicer.
"I'm a goblin, your just dumb!" shrieks the goblin in delight, capering suddenly.

DM Wicht |

Mitnal and Eugen rush to where Kenzo is embattled. They can attack this round.
Jessa and Gyorgy are free to be moving wherever they want - two rounds worth of actions and movements. As they are not in the battle, I'll just allow them to combine their actions into one post each.
Goblins on the Island - round 11
Mitnal: Initiative - 21 -8 hp
Eugen: Initiative - 20
Kenzo: Initiative - 19 -3 hp
Gyorgy: Initiative - 19
Jessa: Initiative - 15
Goblins: Initiative - 14 Shaken;

Jeslara "Jessa" Eventide |

For now, Jessa stays put on her side of the bridge. With a bit of a fear of heights...and the stabilized Gogmurt to look after...she has plenty of excuses to stay put. Blackwing circles back to join her and keep her company. While Jessa waits for her friends to return, she takes the time to at least search the goblin spellcaster and remove any weapons he might otherwise try to use when he regains consciousness.

Mitnal |

Mitnal attacks the goblins using his klar and hammer technique.
4 rage points gone.
1d20+5=23, 1d8+4=5, 1d20+3=22, 1d6+4=10
"... raise up your voices,
bring fear to the foe,
who so many of your brothers
has already laid low ..."
Mitnal's not being very stealthy but he's having an awful lot of fun.

Eugen Enescu |

DM Wicht |

so that becomes 14 + 3, right?
No. Not quite. You get to roll another d8 (so it could be an eight; or a one) but you also get to add your strength bonus again. So it becomes 7+3+3+d8 (with a final result somewhere between 14 and 21). Regardless,...
Eugen cuts through the capering goblin down with a single swing of his sharp blade. The goblin capers one more time, feels at the gaping neck wound, and with a literal croak, falls backwards, onto the ground, unmoving.

Mitnal |

"...raise up your hammer,
land a killing blow,
upon the burning sands,
Chelish blood will soon flow,
raise up your hammer,
bring down your klar,
show the Chelish cowards,
what bastards we are ..."
"This song's called 'Bring Down the Klar'," says Mitnal matter of factly to the goblins he is facing off against.

DM Wicht |

"This song's called 'Bring Down the Klar'," says Mitnal matter of factly to the goblins he is facing off against.
Mitnal realizes that both of the goblins are now on the ground, dead or dying. Eugen appears to have rather quickly dispatched the other one while Mitnal was still singing.

DM Wicht |

Jessa removes the goblin's weapons and magic to ensure he can't use them when he awakens. Otherwise, she looks back across the bridge, worrying about her friends. She calls out to Gyorgy, "Do you see them? Are they okay?"
Jessa can hear Mitnal singing quite loudly just out of sight.
How does she know which is magical?

Jeslara "Jessa" Eventide |

How does she know which is magical?
I was going with the assumption that she would assume the wand and potions were...anything else is just viewed as a possible weapon...i.e., the spear and sling. The cloak is debatable, I guess...no need to remove that for now. She just doesn't want him having anything at hand to use against them.
"Ummm...you guys?" Jessa calls out, "Is everything okay? Why's Mitnal singing? Can someone come back over here? This goblin's still alive..."

Gyorgy Elberion |

I catch up with the battle just in time to see Mitnal tell the corpses about his song.
"oh, um, good work."
I look the butchered goblins up and down.
"I don't know if they're worth searching? Shall we see what Jessa's up to?"

Mitnal |

DM Wicht |

While Mitnal searches the dead goblins on the island, Gyorgy returns to Jessa. We will assume Kenzo stays on the island for now.
As Gyorgy starts across the bridge, he notices some extra, unused posts in the ground near the beginning of the bridge and a tangle of ropes attached to the bridge and hanging uselessly down over the water.
On the other side of the brdige, Gyorgy casts a quick cantrip and discovers the goblin shaman had a number of items on his possession with minor magical auras. The dirty leather armor he is wearing, as well as his well made cloak are both magical. Also, the wand and the four potions.

Gyorgy Elberion |

I scratch my head, vaguely troubled...
"So, this armour is enchanted - despite the smell - and the cloak carries some magic as well."
I turn the wand over in my hand, distracted.
"And this is also infused with arcane energy. As are the four potions..."
I stretch my back and look over the chasm. Lim flies dartingly about in the daylight.
I watch him tumble in the air and dart under the bridge.
"Oh, dear."
I walk urgently to the edge of the ravine, next to the bridge, and call out to any of my companions who are near.
"Hey! Don't cross the bridge! Don't cross the bridge!"
I pause and take a gulp of breath, slightly dizzy at the thought that I have twice sauntered over the span with little thought.
"It's not saf at your end!" I holler; "Tie it off! Those posts!"
I gesticulate rather wildly, pointing at the loose rope and unused posts.
