Fakey, give us a hint. I dont wanna look on lyrics.com and cheat. Is it a dude singing?
Country song, used in a movie soundtrack, Weird Al do it in a polka medley?
From the US? From the 90s?
Some regard this artist as one of the greatest blues/rock guitarists. I would give you moore of a hint but it may spoil it.

Wild guess here - Eric Clapton's "Tears in heaven"?

You got the guy. Not Empty Rooms though.
BTW, when I played my first show (singer/bassist), opening for TNT, one of the songs in our set was Murder in the Skies... a Gary Moore song about the Russians shooting down that plane from Korea. Hard driving and fun to play.

Yeah my second band used to love covering "All messed up" and the song in question. (I fronted in that band)
I have a special love of Gary Moore's music. The man is incredible.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
Its bloody "Military Man"! (Sorry Phil. Rone dont tell anybody I temporarily forgot one of his songs!)
Alright, I been playing "Black Rose" trying to pick out one of the obscure tunes. Then I thought about "Out in the Fields" and that was what finally made it click.
You ever hear Jeff Wayne's version of "War of the Worlds" with Phil, Richard Burton, and Justin Hayward?

Papa take a look in his eyes, they're colder...
I thought it was Military Man, but I thought it was Mama...
I saw Shapes of Things Gary Moore on Youtube....he f!%%ing rocks.
I remember reading a Vivian Campbell interview where they called Viv the "greatest heavy metal guitarist ever." Vivian Campbell said, "no way it's me, it's Gary Moore." So, hell I had to check him out.

I really liked Gary Moore's cover of Shapes of Things. I liked Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart's version as well. The original Jeff Beck version was a bit of a goof, but solid for its time. I hear all three for the first time on the same day by a guy who had every version.
I recall Vivian Campbell was one of those no theory guys. Couldn't tell you where the A-chord was by the time he got signed.

I know Nomad could nail this one in a second, what of the rest of you:
Down at the juke joint me and the boys were stompin'
Bippin' an a boppin', telling a dirty joke or two
In walked this chick and I knew she was up to something
I kissed her right there out of the blue
That's a Thin Lizzy song! Buuuut... It's not "The boys are back in town", it's not "Johnny the fox..."
It's "The rocker"!!! At least I think it is. Great song!

Military Man is correct of course from his 1985 album "Run for Cover".
Good job!

The Metallica version rules. Ah, back when they were still good....

Are we keeping these all manly and hard/progressive rock? Because I've got some Kajagoogoo and Sean Cassidy lyrics that will blow your mind. Okay, I'm kidding, but I am curious about genre.
Anyway, back to the game. I don't know their music all that well and I'm not a fan, but they were kind enough to let me jam bass with them when I was 17. Got very sick that day (acute tracheitis) and missed two weeks of school.
White coats to bind me, out of control
I live alone inside my mind
World of confusion, air filled with noise
Who says that my life's such a crime?

You got to jam with them!?!
Am I insane?It's a Madhouse!
Anthrax, baby! Used to thrive on their stuff!
Damn, that is too cool, Jade!

Oh yeah! I got interviewed by the New York Times that day. The reporter told me I had intense eyes and that she would have followed me around anywhere in high school (color me oblivious to her flirtation) and interviewed me for over an hour about issues like the kid who killed himself after Suicide Solution or Al Gore's wacky wife and her PMRC.
What did I get after all that? Two stupid lines. I feel so used. At least I didn't put out.

I'm just waiting on some Dimmu Borgir lyrics... THEN I'll pounce. Not exactly a brain trust but they put on a fun show.
Vårt hat skal vinne.
Vår ondskap skal gro.
A feste seg i unge sjeler.
Den siste krig skal vi vinne,
Og de godes blod skal falle som regn.
Deres korte sjeler skal samles.
Vi skal rå de over kaos og evig natt.
Vi skal glemme de kvinnelig vikante mødre,
Og utslette alt.
BTW, if Dimmu condones anything inhumanly awful, I wouldn't know... my Norweigan is poor, at best.

Need a hint? This was written by a guy who comes in every color, but a song of the same name was sung by a man who died savatagely.
That song went:
Far away
In a land caught between time and space
Where the books of life lay
Within this castle of stone
Both authors took the title from a piece of orchestral music written for an Ibsen's play Peer Gynt.
