Ohhhhh mannnn...

I clicked on this thread expecting news about a new series/movie. I was ready to be super exited and/or super angry (basically the same way I felt when I first heard about the Transformers movie).

Instead I'm just kinda let down. :`(

I loved this cartoon. LOVED it. And I am constantly afraid that some Hollywood douchebag is going to come along and notice how awesome it was and decide to piss on it for cash like has happened with so many of my other childhood loves (I'm looking at you, Michael Bay).

Sorry for the minor rant.

Thanks for the link! Thundarr rules!

When I first started playing 3e, I gave a player a "orcish warhorse" or some such nonsense based off the horse ridden by Thundarr's beastial sidekick. The horse was well loved. And, something of a badass.

Sorry Cosmo lol.I was just thinking about this show so i googled it and found the intro link and thought id share.Hey atleast they arent remaking it.They could only ruin it i believe and then wed both be let down.

Exactly!

Spoiler:
It could be Awesome, though...

I supose it could end up being awesome but i tend to be skeptical about remakes or sequels made way after the original.I see this alot with horror movies like texas chainsaw massacre, the hills have eyes, black christmas, blah blah blah.Even heavy metal 2000 paled to the original. And rob zombie remaking halloween....just blasphemous!

Anyway....I think certain things are just a part of the times in which they are made.To get even more off topic, its like the dragonlance movie comming out soon, sort of.Frankly, im a bit worried its going to suck.

I really really wish someone would release a Thundarr dvd though. It could sit by my tv with my D&D cartoon dvd even though thundarr makes D&D pale in comparison.

I'd love to have any of the horses from Thundarr, cuz no matter how far you fall, if you land on their backs you won't get hurt.

I loved that show. A friend of mine ran a homebrew Thundarr game for a while. It rocked too.

Ah Thundarr...

I never really saw any Thundarr. Apparently he was well loved. He wasn't a Conan rip off though, was he?

Sacrelige!!! BLASPHEMY!!!!! Thundarr a Conan ripoff?!?! NEVER!

Seriously, while the characters do have some things in common (the barbarian appelation, the unstoppable warrior), there are also many differences. Thundarr was one of a trio, while Conan was a loner. And while Conan was cunning, intelligent, and educated, Thundarr was more like the uneducated, not-so-bright style of barbarian. And, of course, there were the times frames to consider. Conan was the distant past, Thundarr the future.

I loved Thundarr too. =) Best Saturday morning cartoon ever!

A really, really long time ago, I ran a game based on Thundarr's world, and we used the old Gamma World rules. =)

Thundarr: "There can't be more than 50 of them! I'll be fine!"

A lot of Thundarr ended up at our game table, too. The guy who named his character's half-orc cohort "Oogla" nearly belted the dude who didn't get the reference.

Liberty's Edge

I always wondered at the "sun sword" in the original Ravenloft...

Hmmm. Same reaction here. I nearly choked when I saw the thread title; bit of a letdown, but a good thread nonetheless.

I used to have a thundarr the barbarian wallpaper on my laptop. The younger gamers in the group I DM'ed asked when they made Conan's friend so weird looking. I think we had a TPK that night.

FYI: Thundarr runs on Boomerang channel every night (2:30am or so).
