"...paint the sky! with desire! angels fly! heavens on fire!"

That was one of the first music videos I got to see Readerbreeder. Our church sponsored one of those circuit-riding groups that were all about 'devil music'. They got the parents of teens and set up a time when we could all come in and see all the lewd, crude, and eeeeeevil images and ask the teens what they intended to do with their life. So, I made a checklist and got a Columbia House account the next week and bought every cassette they played an 'evil' video from. So, I guess that didnt work out the way they wanted. I know a lot of these were in that first order: Powerslave/Screaming for Vengeance/Last in Line/Animalize/Pleasure Victim/Blackout/Love At First Sting/Eliminator/Queensryche EP/Stay Hungry/Under the Blade/Live Evil/and maybe a Great White.

That's a good list of some pretty solid metal of the period, Nomad! I have to wonder if some of these religious groups who fought so hard against Black Sabbath and their ilk would still have done so if they could see the mockery Ozzy, in particular, has made of himself these days. I didn't take much heat for the music myself; me, I was going to hell because of those satanic RPG's I was playin'... :)

Edit: Dammit, it edited the first word of that band name. It starts with a C, and is a word that can be used to refer to a rooster.

At least you're not cheating by going country. How are we supposed to top "Drop-kick me, Jesus, through the goalposts of life" or "Take the dice away from the baby, mama, before he craps all over the floor"?

For goofy titled rock songs, howzabowt: Thor Is Like Immortal
by The Fu##ing Champs...

this crappy clip only has about 15 seconds of the track right at the beginning while this dude talks over it and drives.

I also wonder about music as we age. Of course the Oz has totally made himself into a joke. One day, though, I am going to be in a senior center/rest home/whatever and Im still going to be blasting Maiden and Dio and KISS and what the hell will the orderlies be listening to on their ipod nanos that they will think is cutting edge as they change my diapers? Will it be something like girltalk? Where there is at least 2-3 songs overlapped as the track plays? Or do you think it will go back to singer-songwriters and a single acoustic or piano? I know there will always be garage rock and basic hop hop over a turntable (or its future equivalent) as those are cheap and fairly easy to form groups around as long as one has a van big enough to haul everyone to the gig.
