Art Out Loud 2007 at the Society of Illustrators NYC!

Comics

Art Out Loud on Saturday June 30th will feature comic artists Mike Oeming, Klaus Jansen and Paulo Rivera at the Society of Illustrators in New York City. The event will be from noon to four pm, with portfolio reviews from Marvel and DC Comics as well. A great opportunity for fans and up-and-coming artists to meet some amazing industry professionals and see first hand how they work. It's a very informal gathering; you move from station to station where they are working and see how they do things. You can ask questions at any time and they will answer. You can ask for autographs afterwards, and be a nervous, twitching, wet-handed mouth breather to your heart's content!

This is the first Art Out Loud event for comic artists rather than painters, but it remains a great thing to do with your Saturday. The Society usually has a great show up in the downstairs gallery that you can check out on your way in and out of the event and the actual drawing/meeting the artists will take place in the historic Society dining room. Ever wanted to see a Norman Rockwell or N. C. Wyeth painting (specifically "The Black Arrow") in person? Here's your chance. I know that the event's progenitors, Dan Dos Santos and Irene Gallo, will be there, likely along with (the amazing) Greg Manchess. A great opportunity to meet some cool, genuine people with incredible talent.

All of the proceeds from ticket sales go toward the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Fund for young, aspiring illustrators and cartoonists. All of the artists are donating their time and effort for the students, so it would really mean a lot to get a great turn out. Won't you join us?
