Try it this way

for some reason there is a gap in Allan's link, just remove the space betwen the o and the p in to pic at the end of the link and it works fine.

Liberty's Edge

If Paizo can make a Maure Castle book work with WOTC it would merely reconfirm how much they rock. Not that this is a samll thing mind you. The fact that I would not get any more Maure Castle levels hit me very hard yesterday and I'm very excited to hear about even this remot possibility. I guarrantee that I would buy such a book if it added new levels to MC.

I have SO MANY plans for this castle...

I am really saddened by the departure of DUNGEON & DRAGON mags from Paizo's capable hands, and with that the Maure Castle installments, as well.

James Jacobs recently wrote me that the hardback was not an "impossibility," but I guess we get to wait and see what WotC does (or doesn't do) with all of the various content they get from pulling back the license. I for one would not want to do electronic content via WotC's online method but would favor having Paizo broker and organize the hardback.

It all sucks, really, but one must make lemonade from lemons!

Here's to Paizo's continued success with their new adventure paths, as I'm sure they will rock!

And thanks to all the MC fans for the support, kind words here and by email, that I have received. I will miss Uncle and all the other cast, but maybe just maybe in the future, they will be able to walk back on stage and victoriously conclude the act!

Happy Gaming!

Thanks for the inspiring material Rob (inspiring in that I tend to take some of the ideas from my romp through the first two installments of MC in Dungeon and try to flesh them out in Sins of the Saviors, which should be a comparably sized dungeon).
I'm going to miss seeing the unfolding depths of Maure Castle and cross my fingers that the rest of them find their way to print. It wouldn't surprise me after Expedition to Castle Greyhawk comes out that it sells so well that WotC turns their attention to the material just waiting to be compiled into a MC "Expedition" book.

"Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure" is one of my favorite adventures. "Maure Castle" was one of the best times I've had working on Dungeon (and it's one of our best-selling issues to boot). I'm in no way giving up on Maure Castle, but as Uncle says, for now it's the waiting game. Until we've got some developments, then... keep your fingers crossed!

I am,.buit is hard rto type like nthis ;)

I assume that Uncle Rob had scripts for two adventures into Paizo at the time the plug was pulled on the license. Let us not only hope but let the people at WoTC know that this is a product that we want to see and are willing to whine about until they give it to us. To agree with the poster above, it is my hope that expedition to Castle Greyhawk sells very well (for a number of reasons) as this may help stir interest for a complete Maure book.

I think (hope) a great many of us have that desire. Maure Castle and the mystery that surrounds it deserves Expedition treatment. Get 'ir done WotC!

That'd certainly be neat... although many of the larger encounters would have to be substantially revised if we were to rebuild the entire thing in the Delve Format, since that format doesn't allow for encounters with more than two to three types of creatures at a time.

Which is one reason I'm not fond of the Delve format.

Mr. Jacobs, would it be possible to release the first three and the new two as a PDF? Maybe for around ten dollars?

Rob and I chatted last night, and those of you who are seeking to whet your MC appetites should keep an eye our for MC events being run by Rob at GenCon this year :D

Please, no more delve format. Having bought and read a few of them, it was shiny the first time, but it got quite tiresome and stifling rather quickly.

I've decided to post certain tidbits on MC as yet unprinted at my site: pied-piper-publishing.com. In a week there will be the Mysterious Maure article there in html which fans can cut and paste, as all info of course will be free for the taking. I will add parts and maps and such as time permits and as Grodog noted will be running 2 MC events at GENCON this year.

The main idea is to not let MC drift away unnoticed and with time permitting I will periodically add peices so that it maintains a pulse and continues to attract attention, perhaps even by WoTC.

Best "I" can do given the unfortunate circumstances of change thrust so recently upon us all.

RJK

If the sell out of issue 112 didn't attract WoTC's attention, I'm not sure anything will. Thank you, sir!

Uncle,
I love you!

I really have got to agree with this sentiment. I mean I'm all for making the DMs job easier but to do so at the price of not being able to have interesting and versatile encounters? Seems like the cure is worse then the disease, IMHO.

The Exchange

WotC were a bit silly introducing it like it was a huge, revolutionary development. They can't step away from it now without looking very silly.

Of course, the purpose of the delve format might be to make less content look like more. If that is the case, job done, I suppose.

Great idea! I vote for this.

Rob, if you fancy letting someone run some MC events at Gencon in the UK this year (finally, it returns!!), you just let me know...seriously. I ran a few sessions of MC at Gencon UK back in 2005 and I'm currently running MC for a new group of players (I've posted a little to this board too), so I'm steeped in MC lore :)

Hey Day Tripper,

That sounds cool, get in touch with me at my email RJKuntz@ai5.net and we can coordinate on what I run at Gencon Indy. When is Gencon UK? After the Indy show?

About the PDF version. My take is that it would not fly as WotC in either case--I assume--would have to approve of publishing their content. They own MC, remember that. So my posting FREE content, including very detailed summaries of each level, which is my intent, which would perforce include sketch maps of each or fully rendered roughs, is a way to continue building the setting and at the same time organizing it in detailed outline form for future (possible) publication. In either case it stays expanding rather than shunted aside, and that's the main idea, heh?

this sounds great, uncle. as many others have said as well, maure castle is my favorite adventure, and the reason i finally subscribed to dungeon before issue 112. i didn't want to miss anything maure related. as it turned out, i got many other great adventures as well, as the paizo people produce some awesome stuff. MC will always be my fav, though. i eagerly await anything and everything you create for the setting.

I'd love to see a new installment before Wizards closes the doors to the Dungeon forever. Rob or Eric, any chance we'll see another before the last issue?

According to James that wasn't a possibility Vongoosewink, sorry.

Yeh, I'm pretty fond of it too, and as I informed James in a recent email I will surely miss the storyline in written form, such as the character Uncle who I derive my online handle from. :)

But all the more reason to not let it slip into the murk, so to speak. I've contacted our web-man at Pied Piper Publishing and he will be crafting the special page for it. The first "installemnt" for it will be the Mysterious Maure article and some extra commentary on the article content by myself. I will follow that with maps and such as time permits and may have time to post the adventure segment I will be DMing at GENCON this year, as well, but we shall see.

A note on the MC content I will be posting.

As many of you might be aware I am no whiz with the d20/3.* system; I am in fact a die-hard 1E fan at heart, given my ancient beginnings in the industry dating back to 1973 with the advent of OD&D. Paizo was very professional and kind enough to "translate" the installments I sent into 3.5, that from my 1E Mss.

Now, I will be posting original content under 1E stats but would welcome a 3.* person conversant with that system, and perhaps from these forums, to do the conversions for same so that the fans acquiring the material with stats and such do not have to convert these on their own.

That person, like myself, would do this for the love of the MC setting; and I would hand over the original piece(s) prior to posting these for him or her to convert.

If there is anyone here who is interested in doing this as often as perhaps on a monthly basis, email me at RJKuntz@ai5.net

Long Live Maure Castle and Paizo Publishing! :)

Heh. Thanks Allen. I would have ruled if I had finished the installments faster and we had printed all of this as a run, now that would have ruled.

But as I noted--make lemonade out of lemons.

BTW: The adventure for GENCON will be the unpublished "Warlock's Walk" from Maure Castle. I will be DMing it twice. After the con I will post it for free download/c&p on our site: pied-piper-publishing.com, but will post the instant connect url here and elsewhere before then. The Maure Castle page is near being finished as I provided our web-man all of the content for its construction and the MM article for it as of yesterday.

OK, the need for folks to convert my MC material to 3.5 is no longer a need, as three separate folks came forward to help. Good news, what?

But but but...does that mean there won't be any posting of the material in 1E rules?

:-(

As someone still running a campaign based on 1E rules (for the most part), it'd thrill me to no end to see new material in that format...

Contributor

In fact they will be posted in both versions of the rules, so everyone wins without having to resort to converting. I write these in 1E AD&D.

We should be on target to post the link by the 7th (8th at the latest I assume), and it will be posted on all major boards and Maure Castle fan-oriented sites (Canon Fire, DF, WotC, etc) and wherever else we can think of posting it.

Stay tuned. Maure Castle is not dead! And Long live Paizo who made it happen!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Though I have already posted the url for the new MC page/material in another thread in these forums, as this was the original thread where it was first anoounced I am also cross-poting it here. The page is ready, I have the Cavalier stats for Nasht (just sent by a fan) for 1E so these no doubt will be posted tommorow. We will clean up any mistakes and add content as time permits, but in between please enjoy. :)
