Anarath, you feel yourself becoming torpid and unreactive as you become fascinated with the droning sound of the kobold's voice.
Dohlrok, as you charge towards the kobold in the black robe he sidesteps you and contemptously spits upon you as you hurtle past.

Anarath Coldblood |

Anarath stares in stupid fascination at the black robed kobold. A small part of his mind screams at him to try to break the enchantment, but even that part of his mind keeps forgetting that it should try to resist...
Ok, this is probably a pretty munchkinlike suggestion, but, could my familiar use a standard action to try to shake me out of this fascinated state? If you don't allow it, that's cool.

Arctaris |

I would allow Midnight to make a Will save against the smae DC as the spell. If she succeeded then it would represent her giving you the mental equivalent of a sharp kick to get your mind going again. I usually allow stuff like this from familiars because as they are presented they seem underpowered. I just make rulings depending on the circumstances.

Arctaris |

Anarath; you feel Midnight's not so gentle mental prodding and your faculties begin to return to you. Slowly you shake off the blank minded state induced by the kobold's hyponotizing words. You return to full alertness just in time to see the black robed kobold shreik and topple, blood oozing from a a small wound above its temple. The other kobolds have by now made it to the massive iron doors to the Manor, which open ponderously to admit them.
If you are so inclined you have 3 rounds before the doors shut again.

Anarath Coldblood |

“Alright Midnight, I’m fine now!” snaps Anarath in Draconic, fending off the large bird, whose beak was getting perilously close to his eyes. “Ach, ensorcelled by a kobold, I hope no-one noticed that,” he mutters, looking around.
Midnight acted on my initiative turn this round, breaking Anarath out of the spell, so Anarath will take no action this round, except to come back to his senses.

Scrumble Thunderfoot |

Scrumble is going to search the body of the robed kobold that died.
search check 21 (16+5=21) I am rolling really good!
He runs over to Anarath "are you okay? Do you need any help? Is-that-A-raven-you-have?Can-I-hold-it?How-much-does-it-weigh?Do-you-think it's-strong-enough-to-carry-me?Do-you-cast-magic-spells?Can-I-see-one?" He releases a flood of questions upon you all of which have nothing to do with the situation at hand.He pauses for a moment and says with a bow,
"The names Scrumble Thunderfoot." "and yours?".

Arctaris |

In the fold sof the kobold's robes you find a rolled up peice of parchment, a pouch containing many odd items and a small dagger. The dagger has a strange symbol carved onto the hilt. It is a triangle, pointing upwards with what looks like a gaping, toothy maw in the center.

Anarath Coldblood |

Anarath climbs down from the wall and towards his companions and the strange halfling.
As he approaches, the short figure runs up to him and hits him with a verbal tirade of questions. The elf squints down at him as though he has just stepped in something unpleasant, while he lets the questions sink in.
After a moment he replies, counting off answers on his fingers. “Yes. No. Yes. No. That’s irrelevant. Clearly not! Yes. No. Anarath Coldblood.”
Really, it was like the child back in the village, only worse! He then notices that Scrumble seems to be about to tuck some items he is holding into a pouch at his waist.
“Wait,” says Anarath sharply. “What do you have there?”

Before Scrumble can answer, Corvin interjects.
"Before you say ANYTHING, just, umm, NOTHING. Yeh."
This is creepy. I used to work with a guy that acted just like a kender. He actually talked like that. No wonder he got fired.

Spot checks please
Spot 18+
Anarath

Anarath Coldblood |

Spot: 17+4
As Anarath glances around, his attention is caught by something on the roof of the manor. “Ko-“ he begins, pointing to the roof, when suddenly he breaks off and clutches his head as if in pain, as bolts rain down beside them, although it does not appear that he was hit.
He gasps, and then looks up again. “Kobolds, on the roof,” he gasps, “and something else… Quick, lets all get close to the walls, on either side of the door, we’ll be out of sight from those on the roof, and may be able to ambush whatever’s coming through the door.”
He dashes towards the wall, and presses his back up against it, about fifteen feet from the opening door, looking towards it. He hopes that this close to the wall he should have some cover from the archers above. At his soonest opportunity he plans to cast a spell of protection on himself.

DM Arctaris |

Corvin's Initiative: 8
Scrumble I think it is safe to say that you act first so your action is to move towards Anarath and swing your hoopak, correct? Anarath, that would make it your turn. I'll modify things retroactively should someone get a higher initiative than Scrumble or Anarath.
Initiative so far:
Scrumble 22
Anarath 20
Dohlrok 9
Corvin 8
creatures behind the door 3

DM Arctaris |

Dolhrok smashes into another one of the black robed kobold and, getting a good grip on the kobolds neck, manages to snap it.
Corvin's stone smashes into the kobold archer's shoulder, knocking him aside but not killing him.
As Dolhrok runs into the five kobolds that just emerged from the iron doors of the Manor a large kobold weilding a greatsword slashes at you but misses as you slam into one of his compatriots.

Anarath Coldblood |

Anarath moves up to fifteen feet, so that any enemy coming at him would need to pass within arm’s reach of Gawlak before they could attack the mage. He then begins casting a spell, being very precise in it’s aim – he wishes to catch the greatsword wielding kobold, and as many more of the creatures as he can, without catching Dohrlok or any other allies in the area of effect.
Moves such that any of the kobolds would suffer an AOO from Gawlak before reaching Anarath (unless they circle right around), but still staying close to the wall if possible. Then casts grease at the ground underfoot the big sword wielding kobold. Area of effect is 10 foot square. Will catch more kobolds if possible, but put Dohrlok at the edge (not within) the area of effect. DC 14 Reflex saves or they fall prone.

DM Arctaris |

Scrumble, you charge towards the door (I presume you don't try to run over the greased area). Inside you see a dimly lit hall ending in another door some 30ft away. There is some broken statuary on the floor but besides that the room is empty, that and the five kobolds that just came from through the door at the far end of the room.
NPCing Corvin:
Corvin throws another rock, striking a glancing blow to one of the remaining achers.
Corvin's blow is just enough to knock its aim off and the bolt that it releases goes wild. The other archer's bolt hits Greis, making him grunt in pain "Gawlak, now I require some healing!" he says in a pained voice and Gawlak goes over and begins to cast a spell on Greis.
Who's been adding their +1 bonus from Bless?

Anarath Coldblood |

“Yes!” hisses Anarath, seeing the kobolds slip in the grease. However, he knows that his spell will fade in another few seconds, and he has now expended all his most powerful magic for the day.
The grease spell lasts one round (so to my next turn), but meanwhile, any kobolds that slipped will have to make another reflex save to stand, and will possibly be subject to AOO while they are trying to stand.

Anarath Coldblood |

I believe that a black robed kobold was still standing after Anarath’s grease spell?
While the other kobolds attempt to struggle back to their feet, Anarath draws and nocks Segwin’s bow, letting an arrow fly at the black robed kobold towards the back of the group. However, is aim is off, and the arrow flies wide, ricocheting off the stone wall.
Attack Roll: 5. The grease spell evaporates at this point, the kobolds are free to stand, although one or more may be subject to AOO for doing so.

DM Arctaris |

Yes, two of them are subject to AoO from Dohlrok when they stand and the black robed kobold is still standing.
Two of the kobolds who fell awkwardly to the floor due to Anarath's spell now stand, leaving themselves open to attack.
The black robed kobold croaks a word of arcane power and gestures, sending a small, spear shaped bolt of light at Dohlrok, which hits unerringly.
Magic Missile to Dohlrok for 2 points of damage.
