Well it's certain you like more soft rock... ;)
Among other things. On the one hand, I've got a Black Flag tattoo; on the other hand, I have a framed Gin Blossoms tour poster in my living room...
The particular rabbit hole I was going down was "songs that were played on the local pop/rock radio station in the early '00s." Brings back memories of sitting in my parents' basement after school, poring over Dragon Magazine.

David,
I don't have tattoos, but if I did, I would have one of Metallica on inside of my heart valves.
My music tattoos:
Stephen Foster / Johnny Cash / Peter Mulvey / Against The Giants

I suppose it was inevitable that Bruce covered it, I do like his live version of that song, but I'm not the biggest Bruce fan.
I'm curious, you being a musician. What is your take on Tom Waits.Sure his voice sounds like louis armstrong on a bender but I dig his stuff

I'm a pretty big fan. Not my all-time favorite musician, but I've definitely got a few of his albums (Rain Dogs, Bone Machine, and Blood Money).
The only real obstacle I've found regarding becoming a Tom Waits superfan (like my uncle, who's bought every single album on vinyl on release day since 1973) is going through the guy's massive back catalog of material, some of which isn't exactly... accessible.
Still, though, the guy's put out a bunch of absolute masterpieces. Some of my all-time favorites:
