OK here's my problem: My group plays 3.0 and I want the stats for githyanki/githzerai for one of my players, but they aren't in the 3.0 MMI. I went to my FLGS and found that they're in the 3.5 MMI, which is the worst possible one for them to be in because I can't really justify spending money on a book that is almost identical to one I already own, even down to the artwork. My next brilliant idea was to check the 3.5 SRD Monsters section, assuming it is MMI 3.5, but for some reason the Gith races aren't in it. Why is this? Does someone else own the copyright or something?
And can I get their stats without having to buy the 3.0 MMII (which would be a waste seeing I'd like to convert to 3.5 at some point), or the 3.5 MMI (which is a waste as I have the 3.0 MMI).
It's a bit of a pickle, as I only want the stats for those two monsters and I don't want to pay 60 bucks for 'em. Any ideas anyone?

Several "iconic" creatures aren't part of the SRD. The Gith species, yuan-ti, beholders, illithids, carrion crawlers, displacer beasts, kuo-toa, slaad, and umber hulks.
Essentiall WOTC held these creatures back because they were not modified versions of folk lore creatures like many other D&D monsters are. (I'm still trying to figure out how snake men and fish men aren't general enough to let in the SRD, but never mind that, the rest I kind of get)

Kahoolin, I'm fairly sure that stats for Gith can also be found in the 3.0 Manual of the Planes, which IMO is a good read and a good resource if you are planning on running any planar adventures.
Don't know if that helps you...
There should also be a psionic version in the original psionics handbook.

Both Githyanki and Githzerai are detailed in the 3.0 Manual of the Planes. As a word of warning, they are both listed as +2 ECL races without any racial hit dice, which can cause problems depending on what level you start at.
I would also second the book as a good investment, even if you convert to 3.5 later.

Hhhmm... I don't understand your problem.
My MM II doesn't contain Giths. Point. And if you want to convert to 3.5, you will have to buy the 3.5 core books sooner or later anyway, will you not?
But maybe the books mentioned above will help you to postpone that purchase at least for some time...
Greetings,
Günther
P.S.
Even if you owned the MM 2 and converted to 3.5.
MM 2 wouldn't turn worthless over night. Most monsters didn't change that much from 3.0 to 3.5.

They're also in the Expanded Psionics Handbook and Complete Psionics books. If you're going to use psionics anyway, you can find them here and not worry about duplicating MMs.
