Methods of coding Item Cards?

Just curious what methods other GMs are using for coding their cards.

Generally speaking, I use the following. Each adventure (or campaign segment) gets a letter designation (A, B, etc...) and each item gets a number following that. There are of course, plenty of other ways to do it. I am interested to see what others are up to.

I use a code based on the adventure and the location or NPC that carries it. Example: An item found in room 12 in Three Faces of Evil would be 3FE12. If it item had been carried by Theldrick, it would be 3FEth. I distinguish between NPC's and areas because treasure in areas is under that heading whereas treasure on NPC's is in their stat block.
