Just curious if you lucky Gen Conners have gotten your hands on this yet. General impressions?
I picked up a copy Saturday. My crew and I flipped through it that night in the hotel. It's pretty cool, 2 other guys in the group picked up copies. Basically each district of Sasserine is described in detail, with the general political and religious leanings of the average citizen of that district. Each one had a feat that locals might have. The map is pretty sweet, but I'm loathe to remove the staple to see the whole thing.
I'm not sure how much time will be spent in Sasserine (I didn't read the overview, since I am playing this time), but I hope enough of the adeventures involve the city that the information will be usefull for a while.

TPK Jay, some questions for you (and anybody else that has the Players' Guide). I'm running the campaign already based on a copy of James Jacobs' manuscript for There Is No Honor, but don't want to give anything specific to the adventure away yet until #139 has actually shipped to subsrcibers. Here are my questions: Where is the Shadow District located? What part of the city is Sunrise District located in? (I assumed east) Can you provide names of any inns/taverns in Sunrise District?
That's all. Since the Guide is actually out, I figured it was safe to ask these questions without offending James & crew.

The STPG is a solid gaming aid: it's 15 pages of goodness.
The Shadow District (Shadowshore in the STPG) is on the northwestern portion of Sasserine. It looks to be the smallest of the districts, and starts just past the breakwater leading into Sasserine's port.
Sunrise District is the southeastern portion of the city. There are quite a lot of taverns in Sunrise - drop me a line at alex.rushing (at) gmail.com and give you a quick list.

I believe the plan is to get Savage Tide up on paizo.com ASAP, and to have the PDF for download by the end of the month when issue #139 starts hitting mailboxes.
The cover wasn't supposed to be stapled to the interior, alas... but it being stapled to the interior probably made things a lot easier during the convention as far as handing them out was concerned. In any event, a 4-panel copy of the city map will also be appearing in issue #139.

I very much like the way it's laid out. There is a minor switch-around on the last few pages (it looks like the Affiliations information was accidentally dropped right in the middle of the Sunrise District information), but it's an excellent resource.
The District Feats are very nice - I'm a fan of the FR Regional Feats, and these are niiiiiiiiiiice. The tie-ins to SCAP are awesome for nostalgia purposes; I know my party saw Rufus as a sidekick, and they'll dig that he's been promoted.
As a DM, I appreciate the large map for the entire city, but I enjoy even more the smmaler inset maps for each district - it helps things from getting too crazy while searching for a specific location.

You mind outlining the feats? I have a PC in the works and I'd like a general idea of the feats I can play with. :)
Well... without quoting directly from the material:
Azure District: A bonus to Swim checks and faster speed while swimming. (Harbor area)
Cudgel District: A bonus to Sense Motive checks and it's harder from people to sleep from you. (Residential blue-collar area)
Noble District: One of two choices - Cha or Int skills can be class skills and a bonus to Knowledge (nobility & royalty) checks or a bonus to Spellcraft checks and some minor spell-like abilities. (Upper class area)
Shadowshore District: It's easier for you to find black markets in an area and you are better at fighting in close-quarters than other people are. (Slum area)
Sunrise District: A bonus on Handle Animal, Knowledge (nature), and Survival checks and a bonus to resist attacks from plant creatures. (Residential farming area)

Sweet! Looks like my mad archivist may have a new feat in the future!
Thanks.

The Savage Tide Player's Guide will probably be available for preordering sometime today. In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the cover.

Yeah, I want one of those...and I'll take a copy of the guide!

I will assume this means there were print copies left over from GenCon. How many roughly are going to be available? Will I be fighting tooth and nail with the other members on this board or are the supplies likely to meet demand?

Hummm. Haven't we seen that picture before?
I hope they put the pre-order notice in a store blog entry. Otherwise, I'll never find it. LOL

The leftovers of the Savage Tide Player's Guide are shipping back from Gen Con; they should be reaching Paizo sometime early next week (fingers crossed!) at which point I believe they'll be going on sale. We aren't quite sure how many we still have, but there's a lot. Probably over a thousand, I'd guess. There should be plenty to go around.
And the cover was indeed first used on an older issue of one of our magazines.

Thanks James ... I'm guessing there won't be a link for the purchase until you get them back from GenCon ... is that right?

It probably won't go on sale until we receive the shipment back from Gen Con. (I'd have to write new software to make it available before then, and I don't think I'll have time.)

Yes. Find me a qualified candidate, train them in Java, WebObjects and the other technologies we use, and familiarize them with our 200,000-line codebase by Friday, and I can put the Savage Tide Player's Guide up for sale before it arrives from Gen Con. :-)

Does "don't know squat about Java since he's been indoctrinated in Microsoft's ASP and ASP.Net for 8 years but is willing to learn" count as qualified? Afraid I'm busy this week, though. Oh well. ;-)

Heh. To get a line count, I actually did just count semicolons....
Shhh!! Don't let them know the truth!
Clean code! All shall bow before clean, well commented code whose arcane maunderings mean not to the Uninitiated! Thy semicolons, brackets and carets are a method in which to contact our Dread Overlords of the One and Zero! We plead with their messengers, StdIn, StdOut, and StdErr to hear our prayers and curses!
(Of course, I think they pay me at my work by how many pints of blood I can get out of a rock. >:( )

The print edition of the Savage Tide Player's Guide is now available. (We've only got one box of it at the moment, but more is on the way, so if it sells out over the weekend, don't worry—it'll be back in stock next week.

Thanks Vic. ~pulls out my wallet and orders my 3 copies right now~ I blame all of you at Paizo for my current finacial woes! ~GRINS~ (You all are elected for scapegoat of the week. After all, I should not count the Credit Card bills, the Alimony, or the utilities as finacial drains on my wallet, should I?)

Very cool cover and I can't wait!
...but is that a firearm at her hip? I thought firearms were not going to be featured in the STAP, at least officially.
HA! Good eye!
It is a firearm at her hip, but that doesn't mean anything. The cover is recycled from one of our old magazine covers; we chose it because it looked cool and captured the feel of the campaign and because it was free; the budget for the Savage Tide Player's Guide was about $0 (the only thing that we paid for, I believe, was the map itself, and that technically was paid for in the budget for Dungeon #139).
Guns and cannons and all that would fit in nicely in Savage Tide, but there will be none in the campaign. Unless the DM wants it that way.
