Yeah, but I regretted not pre-ordering the SCAP HC and the fantastic content in Dungeon lately has me feeling a high degree of confidence that this one is going to be good...plus I looked at some of my favorite old articles in Dragon lately and realized that I just don't have the time to do any kind of conversion myself.

I hope at least the old NPC classes will be kept as unbalanced as they were designed and not neutered. An NPC class is NOT a prestige class.
If you want an NPC to be more of a challenge to your players, then advance it another couple of class levels.
But please keep classes balanced, players might want to advance in them too.| Dragonhelm |
"Good Hits, Bad Misses" is in the book.
A formal preview is forthcoming.

Oh, hell yeah! I've used that chart so many times in the past, it isn't funny.
One time in a game, I asked a player what he was doing, and he says, "I kill the DM." He rolls a natural 20. I had him roll percentile on Good Hits, Bad Misses. He rolls double-zero. Beheaded, immediate death.
We figured that since the DM was killed, the universe imploded. ;)

My 1e Necromancer class is also based somewhat on the Death Master (I didn't consider it badass enough, so mine class is definitely more skewed toward powermongering NPC villain :D ):

I'd love to see the old Timelord NPC class redone. I've had a player running a character based on that for about 12 years in my campaign, and I'm finally migrating to 3e.

Ok, so we know that it comes out on October 31st. And I am as excited as all heck to get it, but I have one little question (with a few parts): where can I get it?
I know we can preorder from this site, but will it be on sale in book, comic book and gaming stores? This way I could put it on my X-Mas list and het someone else buy it for me instead. And is October 31st just the US release date, or is it like with Dragon and I'll have to wait (at least) one week longer for it up here in Canada?
Thanks for the help!

It will be available through all the regular gaming hobby channels - you might want to make sure that you mention it to your retailer so he doesn't forget to order it, though. It should arrive at pretty much the same speed as any other product in your particular distribution chain. (That is, if your store always gets new gaming products a week later than everyone else, it'll probably be a week late for you.)
We also hope to place copies into some larger book chains, but we don't have anything firm yet.

Answer me this: are the dragon monster classes gonna be in it? The first issue that I got was the issue right afer the one with the metallic advancements. My subscription expired right before the issue with the chromatic advancements. Heheh, and I'm too poor to renew and my parents aren't about to pay for it again.
Even if the dragon advancements don't make it in, it's still at the top of my birthday list! My birthday is conveniently placed on Nov. 5th, right after the compilation is released.

Just to be clear, the list of articles was finalized some months ago.
But keep the suggestions coming...
They will certainly be helpful in compiling the list of articles for Volume 2.- rob
ARRRRGHHH! Just kidding--another volume is good. I don't have time to do any converting myself, that's why I'm such an advocate of someone else's conversions to 3.5...and old adventures and Dragon articles converted to 3.5 are most cool!

OK, just in case these articles didn't make it, here're my suggestions for Vol. 2:
"Familiars with a special use" from the June 1984 issue.
"Poison, The toxins of Cerilon" from the March 1982 issue.
"The Faerie dragon" from the June 1982 issue
Looking forward to October 31st!

*asks for the third time*
How many of the old greyhawk articles, specifically the deities, will be included in this compendium?
Thanks in advance,
black knight

The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer has the Greyhawk deities if that's all you're interested in. The Gods in the LGG include:
Al' Akbar, Allitur, Atroa, Beltar, Beory, Berei, Boccob, Bleredd, Bralm, Celestian, Cyndor, Dalt, Delleb, Ehlonna, Erythnul, Fharlanghn, Fortubo, Geshtai, Heironeous, Kord, Kurell, Lendor, Lirr, Llerg, Lydia, Mayaheine, Merikka, Mouqol, Myhriss, Nerull, Norebo, Obad-Hai, Olidammara, Osprem, Pelor, Phaulkon, Pholtus, Phyton, Raxivort, Rudd, St. Cuthbert, Sehanine Moonbow, Sotillion, Syrul, Telchur, Tharizdun, Trithereon, Vatun, Ulaa, Vecna, Velnius, Wastri, Wee Jas, Wenta, Xan Yae, Xerbo, Yecind, Zagyg, Zilchus, Zodai, Zuoken......doesn't leave much to be covered in the Compendium, huh?
