Save the Magaambya! The heroes return to the Magaambya magic academy to find the villain they'd vanquished on a distant planet had set another scheme in motion long ago. Students and teachers have been twisted by evil magic, and the heroes must engage in legendary tests to gain the means to free them. While a monstrous foe thrashes through the Magaambya, it's up to the heroes to save the school from utter destruction!

"Shadows of the Ancients" is a Pathfinder adventure for four 18th-level characters by Saif Ansari. This adventure concludes the Strength of Thousands Adventure Path, a six-part, monthly campaign in which the heroes rise from humble students to influential teachers, and ultimately decide the fate of the Magaambya. This adventure provides guidance to tell stories that are like fables or set in truly unusual adventure locations, and concludes with a look at powerful monsters, magic, and abilities that only the mightiest Magaambyan heroes can claim!

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world's oldest fantasy RPG.

OK except for the final battle

3/5

We finished our three year journey through the AP yesterday. It had good parts and it had great parts (mostly the earlier books). This last installment was for the most part OK to good. Just the very last battle had an enemy that leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I mean, if there is ever a place for the abilities that creature had, it HAS to be at the climax of a campaign. But even though - I really didn't like it at all

Spoiler:
Multiple Instant-Kill abilities with constant misfortune on the saves against them, combined with taking away all options of getting someone back once slain, and all that combined with a reaction that is almost impossible to avoid is just not fun!

We won in the end, but the losses were high: 50% of the party will have to be remembered

I'm honestly grateful that I still have a volume and a half of Age of Ashes to get through before my party will have an opportunity to start up Strength of Thousands. My heart goes out to those with itchier trigger fingers than I, this is definitely a bummer to deal with.

Just go ahead and release the PDF of this. We have been waiting on this volume of the AP since December. Where are the Pawns for this AP? If the physical volume is done and stuck at port [as they say it is] then the art is complete and Paizo has it all. What is Paizo not telling us here.

Nothing. They do not release the PDF until the print product is shipped. Not having the product this late is an anomaly that is playing havoc with their established policies.

I think they said this AP isn’t getting pawns, but I might be mistaken.

It's possible that the ongoing worldwide paper/cardboard shortage might have some influence on this. I could imagine that perhaps it's currently simply not possible to manufacture a product like this.

Grand Lodge

Last update on pawns was Jan 4th. At least as far as I found at first glance.

Oh, I fully admit that I only have myself to blame for starting the AP before all the books had come out. I’m frustrated, but I don’t blame Paizo for the shipping crisis and it’s not going to stop me from being a subscriber. I’m just going to be more careful about waiting until an AP has finished shipping before I start running them.

This would be horrible! I suppose all Paizo print materials will be next. Paizo won't survive going 100% digital. I'll be done, I know that much.

That would probably be why they aren’t going to abandon printed material.

Some people love being all digital, others hate it, most are in between. Paizo focuses on being a print publisher, offers a few digital products, and partners with as many quality digital experts as it can for games, apps and tools. Adventures Ahead!

What's happening? At printing? At data-making?

Paper shortages have led to massive delays at printers everywhere, but especially overseas. Shipping blockages and delays - compounded by labor shortages at docks, for delivery trucks, and pretty much every single other step of the process - further slow things.

We’re three years into something that has killed literal millions of people, folks. Things don’t run as smooth as they have before all of this; be patient, especially because what Paizo sells are functionally toys - there are people dealing with equivalent delays for essentials.

Are that many people about to hit the 6th module already??

In my player game the GM and 1 player I did not gel well out so I bowed out sadly. Now I am just GMing it and after work schedule delays we are in mod 1 and 4 sessions in.

I always want to GM and play the freshest AP offerings so I never wait for the whole AP to pop up before getting things going. Not to many problems actually so that can may vary on that front. :)

What I don't understand is...How is it that I have gotten 4 products that released after this was suppose to and another product that is on the way? If there is a shipping problem, then why are we getting things that released AFTER this? Is it a writer problem? An artist problem? A PUBLISHER PROBLEM? It makes no sense.

I believe they have said elsewhere that the shipping container containing those books was held up in import somewhere along the way. Other subsequent ones have not been.

Shipping containers aren't first come first serve. They arrive, they get inspected, they get released. And I'm sure I'm simplifying this greatly. And if something in that container raises a flag and requires additional inspection, now our books are sitting aside waiting for that inspection.

Basically we don't hold up the line, we get pulled off to the side of the line. At least that is how I understand this.

Right. Please visualize our books in boxes, in a shipping container or two or three, sitting in a port on the West Coast (probably Seattle) somewhere in a stack of other shipping containers because something else in the container required additional inspection.

Plus, imports are at a record high, so the port is full and ships are waiting to be unloaded in long queues.

And, until 20 minutes ago, container shortages have been limiting global trade. The breaking news is that "Container factory inventory is up to normal levels.”

Thank you for your patronage and patience in these times of uncertainty.

I'm looking forward to see what these multiclass druid/wizard capstone feats are, as I've seen them billed as one of the big selling points for limiting the free archetype to just those two classes.

I came to this thread since I realized there was a gap in my book shelves, and I am super happy with all the replies Paizo & Aaron have been giving. Most online retailers today would simply say "backorder" or "out-of-stock", but Paizo goes the extra mile to publicly answer questions and explain things out-right. KUDOS!

I also appreciate that Paizo supports their physical suppliers, such as FLGSs, by not releasing digital product until their physical products hit their street date. This AP's delay has shown that Paizo sticks by that philosophy and has not caved on their morals. Double KUDOS!!

As a TL;DR:
- Book delayed due to import issues
- Ports operate via top-of-stack instead of first-in-first-out, so the container is buried under more recent containers
- There are global supply-chain issues and this just happened to get caught in it
- People are people, so please be patient
- Aaron Shanks is awesome

Haven't seen anyone post the Tool box stuff yet, so here you go!

-Opens with the Campaign Repercussions, as typical for a final book in the AP
- Artifacts of the Magaambya (4)
- 10 new capstone feats. All of which are Druid/Wizard Archetype feats. And all 10 modeled after the original Ten Magic Warriors.
- 8 Creatures

Anyone else seeing that their order is complete, but the PDF isn't in their downloads? I have QotFF 3 in my downloads, so it's not the order as a whole that's the issue it seems.

EDIT: While it's not in my downloads page, there is at least a workaround until that's resolved. At the top of this page where it says "Click here to see the download you have for this product", clicking there does give me the PDF. Honestly didn't know that was there, so hadn't used it before.

I've read through it, and am very pleased to report that it stuck the landing! All of the relevant plot threads have been seen through, and we catch up with a number of prominent NPCs from earlier in the AP (some I expected, some I didn't). The climax was extended compared to most others, but in a way that makes sense for the story (I can't say more without getting spoilery). I was left with the feeling that this is just the beginning for this party, what with them being the new Magic Warriors (not a spoiler, this was released in promo material). If Paizo were to do, oh I don't know, a three part mythic AP, making it a sequel to SoT would be an excellent idea. Just throwing that out there.

If it is popular enough and Paizo do go a mythic route I could maybe see a hardcover adventure book following. Somethihg like the dead god's hand book (yet to materialize)

This has happened a few times with products that were delayed, like this one. There's nothing to do but wait until morning in Seattle, when the customer service team goes to work.
