A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for 7th- through 10th-level characters.
The Starfinder Society has traced the hostile robots involved in the first Data Scourge attacks to a facility in the Vast. Now, it's up to veteran Starfinders to explore the facility that manufactured the machines to find answers—but it won't be easy. Danger lurks around every corner in this massive factory, and a few nasty surprises lie in wait for our intrepid heroes.
I went into this one not particularly inspired. I mean a fight at a robot factory? I mean we've been there done that.
I should have known better. The author does a lot of novel things with the mechanics in this one creating some of the most engaging mechanical experiences and fights of the season.
Ultimately, the metaplot only advances the smallest amount in this one and I think it would stand alone just fine as a dungeon crawl through a memorable and dangerous terrain.
"AT LAST, A FACILITY CAPABLE OF CREATING AN UNSTOPPABLE ARMY TO SERVE ME, ZALIBRAXIS THE DRAGONBOT, IN THE DESTRUC-- wait, what do you mean, 'legal ramifications,' Davian? Oh, for Besmara's sake."
"AT LAST, A FACILITY THAT CLEARLY WILL NOT HELP ME IN MY QUEST FOR PLANETARY SUBJUGATION, AND PERHAPS EVEN PROVIDE CLUES TO WHO (else) WANTS TO DESTROY THE PACT WORLDS. How was that, Davian? What do you mean, plausible deniability? I think I pay you lawyers too much; I can't even destroy all organics?"
"When you see brief informational tidbits like this, it's clear that the Society doesn't know how to plan a heist, and why Datch was able to pull off all the things she did. It's always 'quick get in, get out' sorts of jobs, when some of the grabs would work better spaced over a couple of weeks or months of observation."
