Amazing collection of lore

5/5

Beautiful

5/5

This book is a delight to read, it brings the characters to life in a way that few other lore books have managed. Not only that, but it also has a feat of plot hooks for ways to introduce them or their influence to your campaign, some might work as employers, some as rivals or enemies, but all of them are well fleshed out enough that you can bring them to life with ease.

The style of having personalised text relating in some way to the character in each section was a wonderful choice and as well as making it an incredibly easy read is also a brilliant option to let your players find such correspondence, of hear the stories and rumours about them characters.

An excellent read and a fantastic resource for including movers and shakers into your campaign, well worth it.

Another "Here's what you missed from PF1" splat

3/5

This book is of limited utility. If you run grandiose plots and schemes, nation-changing events, and the like -- you may want this book in order to better get a feel for the personalities of some of the dramatis personae. If your adventures focus more on the rank and file of the world, or plunging into the depths of tombs and dungeons, it's of little use.

However they have no stats, which seems like a missed opportunity. Why go to the trouble of outlining the (mortal) dramatis personae of the Inner Sea and not statblock them?

Wonderful to see old friends

5/5

This book may not be super heavy on crunch, but it was an absolute delight to read. Seeing old friends from past Adventure Paths and learning what they had done with themselves in the time since, seeing old foes and how the world had changed for them as well. Getting to meet other big-name NPCs of the setting that had not yet properly been fleshed out. This book is my favorite book so far of the 2E line.

I have been going through the book slowly. Bravo for the new witches patron.

A little meerkat in professor's robes peers at Amaranthine Witch. "If you killed off Artokus, we are having WORDS. Just sayin'."

Nah, no adventure path focused on Thuvia means he was pretty safe. Also one of the stories I liked, mainly because it was his story, not about him.

The dead people are Azaersi, Belimarius and Kul-Inkit. And although not dead I don't think I'll incorporate the Sapphire Butterfly in my canon.

Hello Readers!

Are you a Legends fan who has not reviewed this book? Can I tempt you to review this book? I'd like to do the filk of Artokus Kirran and Tukalo. But I'm shameless, and want some more reviews of this great book. If five of you can review Legends, I'll post the filk!

On page 110, it shows Thira Ash-Eyes as "N FEMALE HUMAN MAGUS". I haven't seen that class in PF2 yet.

Those short parenthetical stat blocks don’t always match rulebook classes anymore; for instance, there’re some NPCs in a PFS scenario whose “class” is adorable brat!

I noticed that myself. Little did I know it was a harbinger of things to come (Magus and Summoner playtest starts on Monday!)

I'll have to look into that. My group isnt playing PF2 currently so I'm sometimes behind on the news.

I was curious if Magus would make it as a class or only as an archetype. Could have seen either way. I loved the Magus class in PF1. I'll have to check out the playtest.

Any idea when come this stuff for heros labs online ?

Have to ask the WolfLair, I guess.

Wayfinders Contributor

Yes, I suspect that is definitely a question for the Hero Labs people. I can't wait though to hear about GMs who have dropped legends into their own adventures!

She hasn't appeared yet but Andira Murasek will almost certainly show up in my home campaign later! The party are currently travelling through Andoran post plaguestone, trying to put down a small scale invasion of Erinyes sisters before it escalates into a full-blown war between Andoran and Cheliax.
The whole storyline, and especially them having to be quiet about it and only trusting certain people was predicated on the idea that Andira, coming from a general background, would be keen to have a reason to declare war, even though it would likely be devastating for much of Andoran, and I'm glad that my read on her was confirmed in Legends haha, will be interesting to see how the party end up interacting with her!

I'm wondering why nearly all the Legends are Female? Is this deliberately so for a particular reason?

Because women are amazing.

It’s also not true. Legends has 24 female, 20 male, and 1 nonbinary character, excluding the licktoads. If you include them, it goes to 25, 23, 1. Definitely not almost all, but I guess that shows that roughly equal representation reads as skewed very far towards female.

Two nonbinary characters - you're probably forgetting Clarethe.

And god, I love the phenomenon of men considering a slightly higher number of women in a group to be an "overwhelming majority". So fragile.

You ae correct, I did. Mea culpa. So 23, 20 and 2, or 24, 23 and 2 with the Licktoads. So even more equal than I thought at first.

Heeeeeey Hmm! The sacrificial rites and incantations have all been prepared. One this hallowed day, twenty-three sacraments burn upon the sacrificial altar to the goddess of filk, in anticipation of hearing her catchy-sounding lyrics rain down from above!

Apparently around half of the characters means "nearly all"...

I stand corrected! It was quick flick through I have to admit. Quite a few of the men looked female on first take.I had to read the Stats to know for sure. And yeah Grankless I lost so much sleep over this - not to mention I clutched my pearls so tight I broke the string!

I've had written a long post over representation, but this is not the right place to approach this topic.

I'll be funny, and protest over the fact that, of the 50 characters, we've got only 1 tiefling, and she's basically a catgirl, and without a tail. Therefore, I shall cry out, towards the sky:

"Brothers and sisters, rise your horns, whip your tails and beat your hooves! All tiefling shall be properly represented as the tailed, horned and hooved wonders we can be!"

I wrote one, and it came out more bittersweet than I expected. I may have to write another one later to balance it out and have a bit more humor. Still, I'll go post the original, and then see what I can do about the follow-up.

Thuvia is Blossoming
Source: I just can’t wait to be King from Disney’s Lion King

The scene opens in Thuvia with a young alchemist shaking hands with the five leaders of the Thuvian city states and a local priestess of Pharasma. In the background, workers build a tower to the sky. A lone morrigna, Tosof, mouths the word ‘no’ with a shocked expression.

Artokus [lifting an elixir to the sky]:
Thuvia is blossoming
All our enemies beware

Tosof [shaking head and trailing spiders]:
See how they charge to chaos?
They embrace it with such flair

Tukalo:
You’re gonna be the main event
Like no chemist before
I'm brushing up on looking down
Watch our tower soar!

Tosof:
Thus far, a rather uninspiring thing

Scene change: Top of the tower.

Artokus [sighs, looking over Thuvia]:
Oh... Thuvia is blossoming

Tukalo:
We’ve come a long way so far, young master, and I think...

Artokus:
They all say, “Do this!”

Tukalo:
Now when I said that, I

Artokus:
They all say, “Stay here!”

Tukalo:
What I meant was

Artokus:
No one saying, “Stop that!”

Tukalo:
Look, what you don’t realize

Artokus [glumly]:
Maybe I’ll just stay here

Tukalo:
Year after year?
Losing your life more each day?
Well that's definitely out

Artokus:
They built a library today...

Tukalo:
I think it’s time that you and I
Arranged a heart to heart

Artokus:
Remind me once again
Why I never took you all apart?

Tukalo:
If this is where our alchemy is headed
Count me out
Out of service, out of Thuvia
I wouldn’t hang about!
Oh... who am I fooling?

Artokus:
Oh, Thuvia is blossoming
Everyone look left
Everyone look right
Everywhere you look there
Thuvia’s in the spotlight

Tukalo [sighs]:
Alright

Tosof:
So how long will this all go on?

Artokus:
Am I the Alchemist or a pawn?

Tukalo [taking Artokus’s hand]:
Together we face another dawn

Everyone:
Oh, Thuvia is blossoming
Yes, Thuvia is blossoming
Thuvia is blossoming

On page 36, there is talk of an artifact that Sorshen is looking for, the "evritas orb", which looks like a weird made-up word. Is this perhaps a typo that should read "veritas orb"?

I find the smattering of possible emerging alliances shown in this book to be quite interesting.

Also, I can already some brave bard in-universe creating a romance novel about Sorshen and Ardax, and the repeated "walking of the walls"

I'm looking forward to seeing some of these alliances/rivalries possibly play out in the future.

Nope! Evritas orb is correct. It's a new item/plot hook introduced within the book.

Sigh...just wish we could get statblocks for these legendary characters. :(

I know, but this opens up story possibilities to have them always be the level you might need for a homebrew. Without statblocks, GMs can fit them in their stories as they like.

It also let APs writer to write different stats at different levels in APs without "breaking canon".

So it says there are past figures in it, anything on ancient Ninshabur, the Shory, etc.?

Contributor

I don't believe there's any mention of Ninshabur, and there are only a couple of footnotes that mention the Shory. Off the top of my head, the main historical figures are Choral the Conquerer, Skyking Taargick, Old-Mage Jatembe, and Nex.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

And Nex's bestie, Geb.

In the sidebar on page 79 it mentions an AI-enhanced suit of powered armor called the Brute. Is this a reference to something from Iron Gods or some other book, or is it just a drop in I can run with?

Grabbed this book for the blurb on Satrap Xerbystes because my 1E campaign heavily involves Kelesh. Some really cool stuff in here.

With the abolitionist turn throughout the Inner Sea in recent books (even reaching Cheliax and Katapesh), I bet you Deena al-Parishat's efforts from this book will canonically bear fruit the next time a release looks at Qadira! I love that she has something to do other than be the satrap's wife.
