The Ruins of Azlant Player's Guide provides players with all the spoiler-free information, inspiration, and new rules they'll need to create characters ready to set sail to explore terra incognita in the Ruins of Azlant Adventure Path.

Within, players of this campaign will find everything they need to create backgrounds tied to personalities and events vital to Pathfinder Adventure Path's exploration of the lost continent of Azlant, along with new campaign-specific traits to give brave heroes the edge they'll need to take on the dangers of a remote island and the surrounding seas in the Ruins of Azlant Adventure Path. This player's guide also includes a glimpse of the other colonists who are part of the expedition along with the player characters, as well as various class options and advice for characters ready to dive into adventure.

Beautiful

Even if you aren't intending to play this AP I would recomend getting this (FREE) PDF just for the art alone, the border art by Francesca Baerald on the pages is absolutely gorgeous.

As a GM, I always appreciate it when a player's guide answers important questions right up front.

Sweet! I'll read through it tomorrow.

Welp, that means we'll soon see a "I need to build an aquaphobic character who suffers damage when immersed in water for Ruins of Azlant" thread. ;-)

Along that vein someone was already asking about playing a Skum.

Shouldn't the question in this case be "Can I play as gillman"? :D

I mean, the player's guide suggests that is going to be really horrible for the player in long run

Some people just want to watch the world burn while they play a Paladin in Skull'n'Shackles or a Vivisectionst/Warpriest of Deskari in Wrath of the Righteous. It's inevitable.

Oh gods and goddesses above and below the art is F+$@ING GORGEOUS!

Yay! I guessed that the campaign traits would be related to the interviewing process. I suppose it was kind of an obvious hook, but I'm pleased regardless.

Also, seconding what Rysky said. THere's some beautiful art in these pages.

Silver Crusade

Hmm, how to tie Eagle Knight Recruit into a Deepwater Rager character...

I was thinking of Seasoned Hunter, but it's probably the weakest trait in the guide, which is really sad (especially if you compare it to the Monster Hunter campaign trait from RotRL).

SH: +1 attack or damage against either Aberrations, Animals, Magical Beasts, or Vermin

MH: +1 attack and damage against Aberrations and Magical Beasts

I would attempt to build a custom race based on the Tenctonese Newcomer race from Alien Nation. Do you remember what happened to George Francisco when he stuck his hand in the ocean?

On the product thread for Pathfinder #121, Samy asked...

Samy wrote:
So, is there good thread somewhere on the forums that really summarizes the different options to get swim speed/water breathing?

... And I mentioned that I did a big search through all of our PDFs when putting together this Player's Guide and came up with a long list of such elements, but didn’t want to include all of them in the Player’s Guide because I didn’t want to emphasize that the entire AP was underwater all day every day.

So, I’ll just leave this here:

2. Adam, if I could, I would favorize your post, like, 100 times. That is an awesome list to use for my own game. Thank you.

Adam, on page 12 of the Pg, "Kurvis nurpico", the cleric of Abadar has no level. I guess since all the others are level 3 or 4 and he is middle-aged, he should be level 4. Does that sound about right?

I can´t remember another Players Guide which has that many archetypes from so many Players Companions, so thank you for the amount of work, it absolutely shows.
I´ll put up a review later.

Cheers, Marco.

Paizo Employee Managing Developer

Thanks for pointing out that omission. Kurvis is 3rd-level.

Is blood of the sea not on that list since its recent product? ._.

That might explain the absense of artificial gills.

Yeah, that big list was just stuff we had in print when I was writing the guide, which was a little while back.

Guilty. Not to quite that extreme, but I did play a CG goblin in ROTRL...

O_o Good aligned goblins aren't extreme? :D In AP that starts with them being the main threat?

Good to have some free "rootin' around in old, watery Azlanti lands" stuff out there. ;)

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but isn't is kind of weird for a player's guide to straight out state NPC levels and alignments?

Liberty's Edge

Who is the art of on Page 12? I thought it was the Shoanti, but she's bald in the AP volume. Is it Lyra?

Paizo Employee Managing Developer

The art isn't of anyone in particular. Nearly all of the art used in the Player's Guides are picked up from other sources, and for the most part are supposed to represent the PCs or inspire players to think about their character's appearance and whatnot.
