Ok so I've just (nearly) finished Encounter at Blackwall. The party is on their way back to the keep.
I plan on bringing in 2 new characters in between, but I'm stuck for a good way/reason for the 2 new guys to meet the rest of the group.
The swordsage died near the end of the adventure. That player is now brnging in a Whisper Gnome Ranger/Barbarian (fav enemy undead) and a friend who is down for one night will be playing a Warforged fighter.
Now before they return to Diamond Lake they will have the fight with the Spawn of Kyuss, but at 6th level they should put it down without a scratch.
The Gnome's player has mentioned he may be searching for the person that wiped out nearly all of his clan. I was toying with the idea of that person being Darl Quethos. I really think a character that cool should be foreshadowed in some way.
I know this isn't much to go on, but I always hate bringing characters in mid-campaign. Any ideas are appreciated
You could have the Gnome tracking the particular Spawn of Kyuss thats locked in the basement at Blackwall Keep. Maybe that Spawn killed someone close to the gnome and now hes trying to warn the Keep that theres more undead in the area.
As for the warforged, eventually Allustan can come back to Blackwall with reinforcements that can include a Warforged (sorta like bringing a siege engine with them).

No biggie. Allustan finds some extra help for the trip to Blackwall keep. That takes care of the one-session warforged. Allustan bugs out at the fort, so that's an ideal place for the warforged to leave, too.
The gnome is even easier. As this gnome's favoured enemy is undead, then he might very well be investigating the Age of Worms independently, and have sought out Allustan as a possible lead in his own investigations. Why work, when you can get the player to write the background story :) .
