Thanks, Eyebite! I'm very pleased with this one, I must say. And subscribers get a free 4th edition adventure with this issue.
Wolfgang, just so you know, I've been getting spammed w/ the email about this, including the links to pdf versions. You might want to look into that. I think I'm up to about 7 emails, w/ the last 6 completely identical.

Just occurred to me that I think I subscribed about a year ago... do you have "last issue" notices Wolfgang? :)
Why yes I do! However, some of those always bounce, so if you have a subscription but an old email address, I have no way of reaching you with the reminder.
So, please do renew!

if i decide to subscribe, will y'all keep the 4e module?
Yes, it's a PDF download, so if you don't want it, there's no reason to clutter your hard drive with it.
We offer the freebies from publishers to subscribers because folks seem to like free. But editorially, we support D&D in general, and mostly 3.5 and Pathfinder.

yay!
side note, i noticed that this site only offers pdfs of the first couple of back issues, are they completely sold out, or can i get them through your site?

This is a great issue...and the ecology really is fantastic.
Thank you! Somebody had to do SOMETHING with the phantom fungus. I mean, there they were sitting in the Monster Manual looking all forlorn saying, "why won't anyone play with me," right? Now, they're, like, "whatever, I'm just gonna eat you now." ;D

Issue #1 has a couple copies available on the Official KQ Site, but several issues are totally sold out in print. You may be able to find them on ebay or elsewhere if you're lucky.

If you got the PDF download of #5, my kobold minions will send you the hardcopy of #5 as well. Well, assuming you got the print+PDF subscription. :)
The PDF of #6 went out to subscribers yesterday, and should be available for download now. Send me an email at "My First Name" at koboldquarterly.com, and maybe it'll happen before I get on the plane...

Ok, I just wanted to know before I buy it.

That said, the current issue offers a free 4E adventure by Super Genius Games to subscribers, and the content includes 4E-friendly material like an article about Tieflings by their creator and a take on the Paladin's Code of Conduct based on real-world paladins.
So, it's meant to have something for fans of both editions.

well i'll just hope to be one of the lucky ones. incidently, if i had subscribed (which i would do, but i hate paypal. unless that's changed?) do they get theirs first, or would it still be the same issue?

You don't have to use PayPal; a credit card will also work. There's a part of the checkout process where you have the option to use a CC instead.
And yes, subscribers always get priority over newstand sales. It's only fair, because they paid in advance.

just out of curiosity, when are the print issues being mailed out for subscribers? or should i just get off my lazy butt and go check my mailbox if they've already been sent? :)
They were mailed out last week. You should have yours by the end of this week. So go check your mailbox! :)

Why not give space to any of the other d20 games? Like Paranoia or Mutants & Masterminds. I mean, if your not going to focus on one why stop at two? Or, even the retro-games like OSRIC or Labyrith Lord.

Mr. Baur can only print what he gets.
i.e. if no one writes an article for these things, there are no such articles to print . . .

Eyebite is exactly right. So far, I've gotten queries only for D&D in the OGL form. I'm certainly open to Pathfinder, True20, and other core fantasy and dark fantasy articles. This is the meat of every issue.
Which doesn't mean that I would never print an exception to spice things up. Heck, I'll go out on a limb and say that I'd consider Conan, Call of Cthulhu Dark Ages, Castlemourn, and other fantasy settings. Maybe even Changeling or Exalted, if there were some crossover interest. But I've never gotten a query for any of them.
M&M and SF are pretty far from the core fantasy mission of the magazine, but since I've never gotten a proposal for those, I don't have to make up my mind about them as a matter of editorial policy. Readers aren't exactly begging for superheroes or SF material, though, if the letters we get are any guide.

Loving the blood-spattered cover, and the BRILLIANT TECHNICOLOR within.
I would applaud lustily if a bit of the budget each month were to go toward a couple of dedicated art pages, B&W or color. Another thing, I would love it if the advertising were grouped in one section at the front or back of the mag, so as not to fragment the presentation of the content. Of course, I know the rebuttal is that clumped ad placement wouldn't be effective because readers would just skip that section. But personally, I love reading the ads in KQ. I would sit and read that whole section through to check out all the cool products being advertised.

All I can suggest is subscribe. It is taking bread from Paizo's mouth, to be sure, but it gives you reliable steady delivery of a great product.
Right.
However, since I live in Europe, the shipping cost would be quite high.
When I buy KQ at Paizo, it's usually part of several items I buy to lower the shipping cost.
