![]() About z'Graggen the FreeCURRENT STATUS:
On the beach? Experience points: 0 / To level:? HP - 16 out of 17 DESCRIPTION:
A commotion below decks and crew members congregate in the hold. Emerging from one of the fish barrels is a sorry sight. It's a dwarf - barely alive and naked except for a filthy loincloth hanging over his half-exposed privates. Greasy smelt carcasses are entagled in his knotted black hair and beard. His sinewy body is covered in welts and lesions. He appears to have been beaten severely recently. Blisters around his mouth and eyes show that he may have been poisoned as well . One of his arms bears the hideous cattle brand of a notorious slave company. His other arm has a tattoo of a beer mug with the letters F.B. on it. Around his neck is a chain fastened to a battered tin tankard - which he clings to with whatever remaining strength he has. Campaign: Jlighter's Serpents Skull
PERSONALITY:
The Calphiak Mountains. Sparse, rugged, deep and craggy valleys . Dark forests. Long, frigid winters. The dwarven Khunrugar clan which calls this place home is known for toughness. Take for example their prodigal son, who everyone had given up for dead. If toughness ever had a name it would be z'GRAGGEN! z'Graggen has an unbounded lust for the free life, which he now enjoys to its fullest. Alignment: Chaotic Good
CHARACTER'S TALE:
Z'Graggen used to toil in the Gas Forges of Riddleport. The working conditions were mean and dangerous. There was a general strike and Z'Graggen was involved. As a result of his complicity in the affair, he was unceremoniously sacked. When he returned to the Riddleport streets a gang of hired thugs accosted him, beat him to within an inch of his life, stole his money and spat in his face for good measure. finding himself homeless and reduced to begging, z'Graggen decided to sign up on for a voyage to Sargava. They said it was the land of barley and sun - "where the women are as beautiful as the ale is brown and the rivers glint with gold!" Of course it was a slave ship. After a long and terrible ordeal, which is too toilsome to relate, z'Graggen emerged as a survivor of the dreaded Slave Pits on Mediogalt Island. One of z'Graggen's comrades in the Pits was a heroic cleric of Cayden Caylean called Prester Farnham. The Prester became a martyr to the cause of the Great Slave Revolt in Mediogalt. With that revolt z'Graggen and a band of slaves escaped. They survived as outlaws in the jungle-clad hills and fetid swamps of the island. They were known as Farnham's Boys - in honour of the man who had sacrificed his life and freedom to save them. During this time agents of the Red Mantis Gang methodically hunted them down. One by one they were butchered until z'Graggen himself was finally waylaid at a dingy dockside hideout in the seedy port of Ilizmagorti. In a desperate battle and a fit of frenzy, Z'Graggen beat back his deadly assailants and - on the brink of death's foor - he scrambled away to safety, hid himself in a fish barrel and passed out with exhaustion...... Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive. While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration. A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

SPECIAL ITEMS:
Holy Symbol of Cayden Caylean: The Tankard of Slave Farnham a beat up old tin tankard (see trait) This tankard once belonged to the slave Prester Farnham. Farnham was a holy man - a cleric of Cayden Caylean. In an act of self sacrifice he had infiltrated a slave colony on the Isle of Mediogalt. There he helped to organize a famous slave revolt, during which time he was apprehended . His agonizing execution was impressive for both its outstanding cruelty as well as its showmanship. It will be remembered in song for years to come. Despite Farnham's capture and exquisite death, the revolt was already in full swing. Many slaves escaped. Of those, most perished in the steaming jungles and fetid swamps of the island. A few managed to endure by banding together in the wilderness. They formed a short lived outlaw band - Farnham's Boys. Assassins of the he Red Mantis Gang hunted them down mercilessly. The handful of the Boys who still live have scattered to face uncertain fates in hiding. One of them is z'Graggen the Dwarf, who owed his life to the cleric. He possesses the Tankard now and treasures it as a most holy relic. A character using the holy tankard may perform Purify Food and Drink as if by a 1st level Cleric once per day by faithfully performing a ritual as instructed by a cleric of Cayden Caylean. Clerics can use the tankard to cast the orison at their own clerical level. The character must share one alignment with the deity (CG). The food or drink must be touched by the tankard.
