Known as the Little Mother to the streets of Korvosa, Maria is the matriarch of the Morello family, a halfling crime syndicate that likes to believe that their family business deals only with "victimless" crimes: confidence tricks, pretty theft, and smuggling (often using their position with the halfings on House Leroung's own ships to do the deeds.) The truth of the matter is more murky, for the family isn't afraid to get their hands dirty from time to time, but ultimately that's a matter for Maria's sons to concern themselves. They took over as Heads of Operations following the mysterious murder of the Morello patriarch, rumored to be at Lamm's hands (as per the Love Lost background trait); Maria herself, however, became both blessed and cursed with oracular abilities to drawn upon the strength of her Morello ancestors to protect and guide her family. As far as Maria is concerned, the enemies of her enemy are very good friends indeed, perhaps even honorary family. Rejoicing at the word of Lamm's death, it is at this news that she seeks out the Korvosan Guard and the other PCs to lend her aid and healing as a form of gratitude for bringing her husband's killer to justice... and if she can take advantage of some of the chaos currently in Korvosa to advance her families' interests and influence, so much the better.
