I am currently building a level 6 summoner for a friends campaign.
Quadruped, with claws and a tail sting. I am going with this for its look.

Going to recolor the lava green to represent his acid energy damage evolution. Thinking of giving it the climb evolution and that feat that gives an attack bonus to charges from up above. Have it climb up things and jump off to pounce.

If you don't want to get into pbp, there are sites out there that are more focused on finding online games on virtual table tops.

Where does it say it only works once per round?
It doesn't, but it says "one of her sneak attacks".

If you were going by that to mean once per round, wouldn't it be more accurate to say it could only effect them once ever.

I by no way mean that is what it says. Just don't see how once per round comes from that.

I am sure rogue is played a lot more than you would think by reading these boards. Just like plenty of people played fighter in 3.5 back when it was "the terrible class that only terrible people played."

I think he is asking for a link to http://www.d20pfsrd.com/extras/community-creations/treatmonks-lab/test

There was a spell in vile darkness called Mind Rape. You could completely rewrite somebodies memories, to your whim. I no longer have any of my 3.5 stuff, but I think it also allowed trigger words. Might be mistaken on that.

It was redone under a much friendlier name in Complete Arcane as Programmed Amnesia. Don't know if Pathfinder has an equivalent spell.

Hm, so at level 1...rogue vivisectionist would have 1d6.

At level 2, their levels would stack to determine what level of SA. So...

rogue 2 vivisectionist 2 would have 4, meaning 2d6.

at level 3, it'd be 6, so 3d6.

at 4, it'd be 8, so 4d6.

Funky. I'd just have it be the same level as rogue. Less bookkeeping, and it's only 3.5 extra damage.

Classes that say "this feature stacks with so and so" where not made with gestalt in mind. Most dms will rule a rogue//vivisectionist sneak attack does not stack on both sides. If you allow stuff like that the craziness of gestalt just gets way out of hand.

Getting one weapon is neither here nor there. The character needs to be remade.

And I don't think the middle of a dungeon is a good place to do anything like this.

This is something I can agree with.

The power gamer comment was not meant as an insult. I am one too.

I do disagree what as long as she isn't good for anything she has to be a healer. Even though I am a powergamer, I don't believe somebody should be punished for having less than perfect system mastery. I will never dictate to somebody in my party how they have to build their character and play it. I will however accept that I am better at building and do what I can to make up for any gaps they may cause.

As for when is a good time for her to switch to something other than a pure curebot, I think that is up to the story. The dm could easily whip up some divine mumbo jumbo that awakened something in her causing her class or build to change.

Healers in WoW weren't always like that, I can assure you. They also tend to have more than one healer in WoW, when they don't, what do you think they do? "Heal all the time" is the answer you are looking for. We also don't have any fancy scenarios where "burn it down" is the best option.

What part of "I've never seen her successfully hit something, despite her many attempts." don't you get? She tries swinging a weapon about twice a session, every session, since we were level 3, and I've yet to see her put a point of damage on GOBLINS much less golems, mummies, and scorpions. So, even with this, her damage contribution would be basically nothing.

5 mans always have 1 healer, and that is usually when a healer has to crowd control in combat because not all roles are filled.

I see you skipped over the part where I said I don't think the sunblade is for her. She doesn't have to be in melee to do more than heal you. This isn't an all or nothing. It isn't "Do nothing but heal me or do nothing but be a ineffective melee."

There is a compromise to be had in between, and yes that probably involves you ending fights with a few more booboos. So what, she can heal you up after once everything is dead.

Could you leave now and go back to your WoW or whatever you play where cooperation within the group and the combination of different roles to achieve your goals isn't a core concept of the game? Except I think WoW does that, too. So, Diablo player?

My main issue is he has it ingrained that her only job is to heal him.

Even in WoW, healers are more than just walking health pots. They buff, they dispel, they crowd control in 5 mans. Paladins use judgement on enemies, lol disc priests smite, shamans lightning bolt. Sure most of those are mostly to regain mana, but every little bit helps There are even fights where at a point enemies do so much damage healing is useless and they have to switch to all out damage just to ensure the group doesn't wipe.

While I do not believe the oracle should be using a sunblade with her current build. I don't think this problem will ever be solved as long as he views her as nothing but a healbot.

Since he is obviously a powergamer (not the same as a min/maxer) he should know in combat healing is no where near as effective as making things dead/disabled faster. He should be supporting her branching out into a more active role.

And Blue? If you game with her, you can tell her about this thread and invite her side.

I would rather hear from the dm, or another impartial player. With how she has been presented in this thread, I can't imagine her being happy. I'd like the facts not tainted by potential bias.

Asking the GM is also an option, but I'm being stupidly stubborn, and wanting to try solving this in-game.

This is part of the problem

This stopped being an in-game issue months ago. You don't solve out of character issues in character. Suck up your pride, admit that there is nothing you can do to resolve this, and bump the issue up the food chain.

I'm wondering how keeping her from doing stupid things (like ignoring her duty as a healer, in order to get a chance to ineptly fight things that are kicking the crap out of dedicated combatants) is detrimental to her? Sounds to me like I'm saving her butt.

Yea! And after combat is over, she better be making sandwiches and cleaning the armor or so help her...

Her only duty is to play her character as she sees fit as long as it is not to the detriment of the party or roleplay.

This whole problem is exasperated by your belief that her job is in your back pocket keeping you topped off while you do the heavy lifting. Did you ever thing -gasp- maybe she is tired of being a walking healing wand and wants a more active role?

If you want your walking healbot, get the dm to give you a weak heal monkey npc and let her play her character how she wants. Or ask her if she is tired of playing a heal focused build and support the option for her to just rework her build into some kind of battle cleric.

Kill her character and be done with it. Literally, wait until you've camped and pass the GM a piece of paper saying you intend to kill her in her sleep and write down your stealth modifier so he can roll for you.

~The next morning act all surprised and vow to find the culprit.

Her next character the battle cleric of the sun will also demand the sun sword. That character will also have it in for the ninja for reasons that she assures are totally in character (she hates all ninjas). How does she know he is a ninja? Her character can tell.

I would put my money on she received a dream from her deity stating that a heretic slew one of his loyal followers with a blessed blade. It is her duty to right this wrong and restore the blade to a worthy owner.

Maybe after a few weeks of them killing each other, the dm will have had enough and step up to the plate like he should have already.

There is a bunch of that going on. Earlier he mentioned giving her +1 armor because he didn't need it anymore. She sounds like the red headed step child.

I am wondering if that is the real issue here. Personally I don't think she should have the sunblade, and I was originally leaning towards the OPs side till he kept talking. If loot isn't being distributed evenly this might not be a problem of RP vs combat effectiveness at all. I am wondering if the Oracle is tired of getting shafted on loot and has just picked the sunblade as their line in the sand because its easy to make a makeshift reason to have it over the "I get everything I want" ninja.

Of course this is all just conjecture without more information or another player's side of the story.

-edit- Is that how you guys always hand out loot Blue Star?

The Oracle took the cloak of resistance, I gave her that one because her saves were garbage, and I wanted her to not die. I still need whatever bonuses I can get to my skills and will save.

After reading this something really stuck with me. I don't know if this has been answered or not, but how is loot decided on when the dm gives you multiple treasure at once? Does it go to the first person who calls dibs? The thing that really stood out to me was the "I gave her that one." Are you usually the one who decides what goes where?
