Out of the blue, you receive the following letter:

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of the esteemed Professor Petros Lorrimor. The interment will be held a week from today and his daughter, Kendra Lorrimor, has informed me that you will be most interested to learn this news and to possibly make the trip to Ravengro to pay your respects. She also advises me that you have been named in his will.

Between us, I am somewhat concerned for his daughter's well-being. Although the professor was getting on in years his passing came as a complete surprise and the circumstances surrounding the incident give pause. I will be able to elaborate on this matter in person upon your arrival.

Resolved to bid you farewells and to help his daughter move on with her life you make your way to the sleepy town of Ravengro.

Welcome, all, to our first foray into play-by-post land.

We can use this thread to discuss all out-of-character stuff.

Not sure what to do and how this all works? HERE is a great guide on how to get started and how to make our posts more interesting or, if not that, at least more readable.

General guidelines for this campaign:
I want to keep this fairly informal with an emphasis on story and not mechanics. So, don't be overly concerned with optimization and making sure all the party roles are filled. If you have a great idea for a character you really want to play that is the most important thing. Try to work up a background to tie into the story and if two (or more) of you want to partner up your characters that could be fun too.

Character Specifics:

• Everything on the SRD is legal. Anything else, ask me and we can work it out.
  
• 25 point buy
  
• 2 traits, one of which must be a campaign trait.
  
• average starting wealth.
  

• This thing is undead heavy and haunts are also very present. Some swarms. Some traps but not too many.
  
• You will need some way to help (quickly) restore temporary ability drains.
  
• Channel Energy (both to heal and to harm) will be very useful, especially in the early going.
  
• Use weapon blanches to help overcome damage resistances. A Ghost Salt blanch, although expensive, will make any encounter with an incorporeal foe so much easier. Get a backup weapon to help overcome some of these DRs too.
  
• Keep a potions of Hide from Undead handy - as a 1st level spell, they're cheap

The PCs come to Ravengro to attend the funeral of an
old friend, Professor Petros Lorrimor, only to become
embroiled in the village’s ghostly problems.
