I'm wondering about something a bit similar.

Taking the Dwarf who multiclasses Cleric/Wizard from Deadmanwalking, would it be possible to be a Scholar (which offers both Int and Wis), and then just use the Free boost for the ability score you didn't buff with the background?

Or can you only take backgrounds that offer one of the boosts you want?

Now that the AP has been out a while, is playing a paladin a good idea? From what I've gathered of the AP, it's intrigue-based, but paladins are still mentioned as a better option than some classes. I'm worried about having to do the "I'm not paying attention while you sneak around and break into someone's house!" kind of situation or having to lie to people to get things done.

I know that a gray paladin is an option, but I like regular paladins.

In the #121: The Lost Outpost, the adventure notes specifically mention that that the GM can request a "wish list" from their players, especially for magic items they'll want in the future, so that they can be seeded in loot drops.

The only trouble is, when dealing with players who either aren't familiar with Pathfinder specifically, are playing a class that they're not incredibly familiar with for the first time, or with the concept of tabletop RPGs, how would they know which magic items they would need at later levels?

As for crafting times, I've seen a few places so far in the first two books where the adventure says, "There's a gap of a couple weeks, which is good for crafting". And then there are at least two NPCs (the alchemist and the blacksmith) who could probably make things, provided the PCs made sure to be on good relations with them.

Just my $0.02.

Hey, guys! Ever since I got the first five books of the AP for Christmas, I've been eager to run it. And when a good friend told me you were going to post about it, I've been eager to see what you guys encountered. Do you guys do video, audio, quick reports, what?

I know that this playtest is closed, but is there going to be a second round of playtesting for Occult Adventures -- or, at least, this class?

With the spirits that were released in this forum, as well as the Beseech Spirit ability, I'm thinking that a second round might be able to give a better feel for the direction the class is heading? If nothing else, the spirits that were released alone during the playtest put a completely different spin on selecting spirits and figuring out which ones to contact.

(The Beseech Spirit ability alone completely changed the way I look at selecting CHA spirits, and that's a major consideration seeing as how CHA is supposed to be one of the things you're dumping points into in order to make the class work.)
