I,m really new to Edmond Hamilton i just finished my first story of his from a 1946 issue of weird tales i just bought from a comic shop hes a awesome writer

the story is day of judgement a planet of the apes type story of the last man and last woman on earth vs the 7 animal clans that now run the planet the cat the dog the cow the lizard the bird and the rat

iv had his collection crashing suns in my book collection for a few months now just havnt gotten around to reading it yet


for christmas this year i got two books by otis adelbert kline from pulpville press

tam son of the tiger which i just finished its a great novel

and i also got port of peril a novle set on venus havnt started that one yet

looks like ill be buying swardsman of mars next month and possably outlaws of mars as well


klines why weird tales essay is available in the coffie table book called the weird tales story


the issue also has a short story by kline called the malignant entity a weird mystary story about a flesheating creature it was also published in amazing stories in 1928

klines stories just seem to grab me his first weird tales story was a two part seriel called the thing of a thousand shapes appered in the first issue i remember when i receved the second issue replica in the mail i hurridly ripped open the package like a kid on christmas day so i could finish the story

oh and also i read the lovecraft houdini collabration imprisoned with the pharaohs it was great also my dad was watching nova the other night about the sphinx and i showed him the cover painting on the weird tales issue he though it was a nice painting of the sphinx


well i just recived the may june july issue of weird tales replica

and i just finished the why weird tales artical by the great otis adelbert kline its great and very interesting

and i agree with him a weird tale is a good thing every now and then

thanks for the heads up the why weird tales artical will be the first thing i read

that lovecraft houdini collaberation is another story im looking forwerd to

the issue also has 3 other stories that sold the issue for me

the malignant entity by OAK

the werewolf of st bonnot by Seabury Quinn

and the loved dead by CM Eddy the story that saved weird tales from bankruptcy in 1924

cant at the moment i just ordered a replica of weird tales the may/june/july issue it has a short story by kline and also an editorial by kline called why weird tales? it explanes why they published horror fiction

i will get swardsman of mars as the next book in my collection

almuric looks great to as im a big Robert E Howard fan i also read that otis adelbert kline was insturmental in getting almuric published in weird tales way back when


i just finished another of otis adelbert klines early weird tales stories the corpse on the third slab a story in which a dead man helps solve his own murder

kline is one of my faverate authers like henry kuttner both men could write horror and fantasy both superbly well


wow awesome cover guys best book cover iv seen in a long time


i just got my copy im just finishing how fear came to ornath by
ed greenwood cant wait to read the other stories


before they were giants is gonna be a must buy for me i absolutly love anthologies and some of thoes authers iv been very interested in how they started


i just got this and its great so worth the wait and the finley artwork is the iceing on the cake

please tell me there will be more merritt


well i got my books today i just read the first chapter of ship of ishtar and love it

worlds of their own looks great ill check it out tonight


im to chapter 9 in this book so far and i love it

its even better then the ginger star

and the hounds in the title are a highlight for me


im really looking forwerd to this i dig anthologies and thats a great list of authers


this story Sunfire got me psyched to read the ship of ishtar so i just ordered the ship of ishtar im hopeing its great

in keeping with my system of buying 2 planet stories at a time i also got worlds of their own as a bonus book


recently i celibrated my 24th birthday

as a gift i recieved a replica of weird tales Jul/Aug 1923 issue

the opening story a 2 part story called sunfire by Gertrude Barrows Bennett aka Francis Stevens shes a cited influence of both Lovecraft and Merritt

its a story of five explorers who come upon a uncharted island where things aurnt quite as they seem

its a great lost world story

kuttner truly is a great auther and he can write horror action and funny stuff all at once

i read the salem horror one of kuttners cthulu stories and found it to be very creepy

i read the world is mine in robots have no tales late one night and laughed so hard i woke my dad up

im just not sure what to get next

this book is a blast iv just finished the first two stories and they are truly funny as well as being awesome stories

the story the world is mine still has me laughing

i definetly see myself buying more henry kuttner books from planet stories anything planned for the future


this will be my next planet story i add to my collection as i just bought R A salvatores first book of the demonwars series

also as a gamer im really looking to read the stories by gary gygax and ed greenwood

i plan on getting this when i get paid next month


i have to say i have no problems with the two colume text

i have 2 replicas of weird tales in my collection and they both have columed text its actuly easier to read for me

i just receved word my copies of robots have no tales and hounds of skeath have shipped im really looking forwerd to getting my first shot at kuttners talent im hopeing he is as good as his wife


well i just ordered robots have no tales

im hopeing its as funny as you guys have said


i havent been able to get swardsman of mars yet but i just started reading port of parel AKA buccaneers of venus in e book form so far its very good


well i plan to buy swardsman of mars vary soon

if its half as good as that weird tales story i think im in for a treat


iv read and heard alot about Mr. Kline and recently got my first taste of his work

well recently i got a collectors replica of weird tales #1 1923 for my collection

in it is the first of many seriels Mr Kline contributed to WT called the thing of 1,000 shapes a rather scary ghost story of a shapechangeing ghost but his writing is superb and some parts of the story gave me jumps lol and its a two parter so i have to get the next replica

im thinking of buying one of his planet stories volumes

im just not sure wich one


well iv finally finished the ginger star it was so good im thinking of just reading it again

i will be ordering the next book in the skaith trilogy tommorow


well what can i say im loving the John carter series it brings back the memories of when i was 7 and i got to read tarzan


well i found a e text editon of the first John carter book

on Tarzan.com iv read the first chapter its great


im new to reading books set on mars

the two iv read so far is War of the Worlds i found it to be vary creepy

the second was Shambleau featured in Northwest of earth

i am looking to get into the John Carter stuff


i was out with my weekly RPG crew on friday and i got to talking with a new member of our grupe who is a big fantisy reader

and he brought up Michael Moorcock and the elric saga

that got me to thinking my next buy from planet stories will be

city of the beast


today i was out at a local book store looking through the sci fi section and

i found a used copy of Steppe so i went into the reading area and read the first few pages its really good

i almost bought it on the spot i then looked at my copys of northwest of earth and the ginger star

i decided to wait and buy steppe from planet stories when it comes out from them


im really enjoying the Eric John Stark series

im wondering after i finish the ginger star

should i backtrack to the secret of sinharat

or continue on with the hounds of skaith


well looks like black gods kiss is it

im still in the middle of northwest of earth

and CL Moores stories have grabbed hold of me and screamed "Read Me"

im also reading the Eric J Stark series by Leagh Brackett im on the ginger star and its so good i thought of reading it all in one sitting but dragged it out to savor the good story

REHs Almurac is also on my list


well iv decided to buy another planet story volume

im just not sure wich one

iv narrowed it down to two

Elak of Atlantis by Kuttner

or Black gods kiss by moore

any help from readers


has anyone read this yet im thinking of checking it out

the cover looks awesome anyone have any feedback on the book


Black Gods Kiss is certenly high on my to buy list

outlaws of mars is also calling out to me since iv never read Mr Kline before

Henry Kuttner is also vary intreiging to me

i also should note i am more then a reader i am a collector of horror and sci fi novles and stories

well i had a shocker this morning i woke up and felt somthing agenst the door it was a package from paizo my dad put it next to my door

i opened the box in it was my copy of the ginger star

i love it its an awesome story my one worry is ill get through it to fast and not know what book to get next

Mr Mona thank you for the responce iv been really getting into the weird tales and other pulp magazine matireal thats why northwest of earth jumped out at me

and Tam has always been on my wish list make it avalable and you will have a sure buy from me

i just got into planet stories since i got Northwest of earth for christmas i just ordered the ginger star as well

but i have a small request ever since i saw the swardsman of mars and the outlaws of mars by Otis Adelbert Kline

i was hopeing at some point you could publish his novel Tam Son of the Tiger.

Any chance of this happening

in northwest of earth i just finished Black Thirst. and it was equally as good as shambleau


wow i got Northwest of earth for christmas. Iv been so busy with other things that i have not been able to start reading it till now

i am blown away Ms Moore is a great story teller. In Northwest Smith i can really see han solo and indiana jones also maybe a little james bond to. also the way she discribes planets is beautiful.

i read through shambleau in one read and im hooked.

i would like to thank the good people at planet stories for giving me the opertunity to read this great collection
