Yeah, you were pretty freaking awesome.

This was my second time running this special, and both times have been incredible. Thank you to those who provided my table with tokens, and thank you to those who provided advice for one sticky situation.

My BBEG is facing 4 PCs.

The minions fall in round 1.

In round 2, everything focuses on the BBEG.

One hits once and invokes Allied Offensive.
One rolls two Nat 20s.
One rolls another Nat 20.

All of these are cold iron.

My PCs are now standing over the BBEG's corpse.

I got to cast Lightning Bolt and force about 6 Will saves. AND I WENT FIRST. :D

Oh goodness, yes, so... 43200 times. But exhaustion sets in 2/3 of the way through, making it harder.

This works, thank you.

I had a hard time reconciling the insta-death, but reading the statblock (the trip takes at least an hour) I had a hard time with... "Well, does he attempt to Escape 1800 times?" and it was just one of those weird edge cases where I had to find a line.

I know death is possible (I've paid for resurrections before), but it's generally not the way of PFS modules to make it that easy.

He did get picked up first try and dragged off, but escaped and the battle continues.

Advice requested.

This is a 7-8 table with a group fighting Culdewens. One Culdewen has a fighter hooked, and adjacent. And we're near the edge of the map.

So it will spend an action trying to Land the Fish: The culdewen hoists the creature over their shoulder, as though it weighs no more than a fish. Unless the creature is unable to act, the culdewen must attempt an Athletics check against the creature’s Fortitude DC. On a success, the creature is restrained by the culdewen. While hoisting a creature, the culdewen gains a +20-foot status bonus to their Speeds and is compelled to escape with it (see culdewen’s curse above).

It has a 60% chance of succeeding on a single roll.

And then Culdewen's Curse: A culdewen that captures a creature is compelled to immediately retreat to a secluded place to eat, typically journeying by boat. The travel to the secluded place always takes at least 1 day. Their captive is cursed to vanish on the journey—typically being lost in the water or consumed by aquatic creatures—and can be recovered only by a wish spell or similarly powerful magic.

----

I can slow down the process by having it spend an action cursing, but if I make the first Land the Fish roll, it spends an action going 60', off map. No one will be able to catch it, mathematically. Is this insta-death? The pers bleeding has stopped, the fighter could fight back, but... IDK, this all seems weird to me.

Do I have an out here?

I hadn't considered it having an adverse effect on the forum tables, and we don't want to degrade anyone's experience.

I'll withdraw that question and only run them once.

I do still have the original question, though:

Instructions say to report a success of the table's choice to HQ staff. Should we prioritize getting success types over the line (like Befuddled, which is currently at 8), or do we try to work on adding to some of the lower totals (like Shifted, which is currently at 3)?

GM Doug H wrote:

Discord always goes a ton faster than PbP.

I don't read anything in the special about repeating the optionals to infinity.

Agreed, and I kind of have a rep for a breakneck pace even for Discord. It doesn't hurt that I've got 4 players who are active at the same time.

And you are correct about nothing specifying they can be repeated, but there is a statement about using these encounters at GM discretion -- which is different from the other six encounters in Part 1. Thus, the question.

If the answer's no, it's no, and the party will accept it, but it looks like my group actually relishes the challenge.

O mighty house GM, I have two questions because I am sitting in uncharted territory right now.

I've just started one of the optional encounters. Instructions say to report a success of the table's choice to HQ staff. Should we prioritize getting success types over the line (like Befuddled, which is currently at 8), or do we try to work on adding to some of the lower totals (like Shifted, which is currently at 3)?

Also... if my table is up for it (something we haven't talked about yet) should we just keep fighting those two battles over and over, or do we just pause until Part 2 after they tear through these one time?

Gayel Nord wrote:

Whelp.

My table has finish the normal success. I think they will devour the optionnal.

Kinda sad no optional one is a severe one.

I'm not even mad, I'm impressed! I thought I was flying through (we're going to finish part 1 today).

Is Aid DC based on source tier or target tier? I assumed source.

The DC for each is posted in the module. In our case (7-8), page 40 of the module says that the target DC for each Aid token is 25.

I have DM'd Paul this token in Discord but am posting here also.

So here's the PFS 2-00 tokens and maps I have, specifically for the 5-6 tier last time I ran it. It can go in your own Slides, or Tableplop as you see fit.

As a bonus: I had set up Tuppers in Discord for all the VCs (again, the ones that appear in 5-6), and have a boatload of discord-formatted text you can use in a text file. (It will require some work to use on the forums, sorry.)

And if it please the powers that be -- can my name in the excel doc be changed to GM Ben, or have GM Ben added to it, since that's my known alias on FTP's Discord?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Woohoo, we're back!

If anyone wants, I have images and some cut/paste text already discord-formatted from when I ran tier 5-6 in a zip file.

I'll hop on the "still pending" bandwagon as well. Order: 36806668

[42 minutes later] That was quick. Thank you, mystery customer service rep!

Thank you, GM Farol, for running two scenarios and doing a fantastic job.

Also thank you to each and every one of you who played along and put up with Zizark. :) I had a blast, I hope you all did as well.

Thank you, Dennis, for running it.

Thank you LeftHandShake and mkb512 for the aid tokens. My table never USED them, because no one wanted to be that person who spoke up -- but I still am grateful for the thought.

(I've DM'd this token to LeftHandShake)

My table JUST started E 48 hours ago, but hasn't completed a single round of combat; I'm certain we won't finish it. I think the group is going to slow-walk it. It's the last one for my table, though, all the rest are completed.

I've withdrawn my requests for this token from DM ranizax. It is up for grabs again.

My table has been reluctant to take it in case anyone else needed it, but it's been almost 24 hours, so we'll take it and not feel bad anymore.

Please and thank you.

So given that the House GM is managing this game across several Discord servers AND the forums -- how will the House GM announcements be handled? Are you going to post them in each and every place, or do we look for the signals here and move our tables forward as directed?

Hey, is it cool if I join the "Anxiously awaiting the shipping notice and got totally excited for an email but then figured out it was for PFS so I was kind of let down but only a little" club?

That was quick, and awesome. Thank you!

Hi,

I bought a PFS subscription around the 22nd of March. I got the March downloads (2-15 and 16) on the 31st of March.

Last week, I got another subscription email that included all the March and April downloads (2-15, 16, 17, and 18). It has a "Submitted" date of 3/31, which is also weird. 2-17 and 18 are still not available for me to download.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

OK, got it. Thanks!

Hi,

I was told to post in here (by a super-helpful forum poster) and tell you that somehow I haven't received my society subscription for April yet. I got the email, but it contained both March AND April PFS products (I already had the March ones).

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

2 Pathfinder videos in 26 months, and one of those was a D&D comparison. He wasn't playing PF2e. He got clicks. And he got people talking about him. No publicity is bad publicity, they say.

If he's sincere, hey, more power to him. But I do question whether his sincerity is more genuine, or the desire for publicity.

Is there an easy way to code the bolds and italics and whatnot on here? Manually typing them is... tedious. I found a firefox extension called Paizo Campaign Tools that seems to help navigation and layout, but nothing for the BBCode itself.

Holy cow, I didn't realize you were THAT Kate.

OK, super stoked now.

I'll throw my name in the ring, as a new player.
