Backstory:
Zirnikar was hatched and raised in the Hookclaw kobold clan, making a living beneath the streets of Absalom as the humans walked aboveground. Growing up, he made several friends, such as Mirkol (formerly Kol), who became a miner, and Valna (formerly Val), who works as a shopkeeper. He was eventually chosen as an engineer, travelling to the surface to add the knowledge of the surface dwellers to the already extensive experience of the kobolds. Zirnikar joined the Post Guard to support himself while he studied inventing, and he has taken to this unconventional choice of career with some enthusiasm. He was once known as Nik, until he earned the second syllable of his name when he came of age (making him Zirnik) and the third when he was chosen as the apprentice to a prestigious engineer.
Appearance:
Zirnikar is tall for a kobold, standing at 3 and a half feet tall and 27 pounds. He has bronze scales and a propensity to fidget. He wears leather-based protective clothing with all sorts of gleaming metal gadgets bolted onto it. Since he grew up in an underground cave system, he wears red-tinted goggles to protect his eyes during the day.
Personality:
Zirnikar has a strong work ethic and genuinely hopes to help others – he studies engineering with the hope that he can better the lives of others with his inventions. He devotes himself to the tasks he has undertaken, and he does his best to fulfill any obligation he has been given. Whenever any of his inventions fails (and they always do, at some point or another), he falls back on repeated applications of Zirnikar's Special Guaranteed Repair Method (read: a solid thump). He is almost constantly fidgeting, routinely picking up and breaking small trinkets in his absentminded yet strangely aggressive tactile exploration of the world around him.
