Zherohd grew up almost completely isolated in the family estate. More than most wealthy merchant houses in Absalom, the Zhi family has secrets to keep. For centuries, they've been making use of extra planar advisers. Some distant ancestor gained knowledge of and influence over a variety of beings from several planes of existence, and her descendants have been using them to ensure the family's influence continues. The Zhi never seek to gain high office, obvious power, or excessive wealth - any or all of those would invite both jealousy and scrutiny. Better to remain unnoticed, simply one wealthy trading family amongst many. Only the most dedicated and long-lived scholar would be likely to notice that as other houses have rose and fell, the Zhi family remains.

Zherohd, like many of the family, has become quite adept at summoning outsiders to do his bidding, but unlike most of his ancestors, he has focused largely on fey creatures. This is likely due to the influnce of an old family adviser, Cademon. With some of the family's long standing "allies", such influence would be cause for alarm. With Cademon though, it is likely just due to the old fae having become bored and wanting the opportunity to spend a few decades messing around on Golarion.

Zherohd himself is much as one would expect of the spoiled son of a merchant house; he's a layabout wastrel, who's decided to join the Pathfinders as a lark. It seems like it'll be easier, or at least less boring, than studying bookkeeping, navigation, or much anything else that would lead to him contributing to the family fortune in a productive way.

Needless to say, Cademon can quite easily talk Zherohd into nearly any sort of potentially dangerous plan by simply suggesting that it's bound to be more fun than going home and earning an honest living.

Cademon is an ancient fae spirit that has been advising and assisting members of the Zhi bloodline for many generations. Not that the advice has always been particularly good advice, as while Cademon is theoretically devoted to both Desna and the Zhi family, he's always much happier when plans go bad and life becomes chaos. When called out on the problems his advice causes, or could cause, he simply claims that he's trying to teach quick thinking and mental flexibility.

Very few have been able to call him to Golarion in a physical form though, and he has not become used to his current body - it is both weak and clumsy as it exists right now.
