About Zax Rydell
Size / Type: Medium Humanoid (Human)
Hit Points:10 (4 racial, 6 class)
Stamina Points: 6 (6 class, 0 from Con)
Bonus Feat: As a human, Zax receives a bonus feat at first level.
Skilled: As a human, Zax receives one addition skill rank at 1st level and each level thereafter.
Theme Knowledge: Zax is knowledgeable about the military, from rival mercenary groups to standard military procedures to planetary armed forces, and he can draw upon this fount of information to aid in his adventurous pursuits. Reduce the DC of Culture checks and Profession (mercenary) checks to recall knowledge about hierarchies, practices, personnel, and so on in the military by 5. Zax receives a +1 bonus to Athletics checks and an ability adjustment of +1 to Strength at character creation.
Artificial Intelligence (ex) - Exocortex: Zax has an exocortex, an artificial processor that interacts and augments his biological brain's cognitive functions, which aids him in a variety of tasks, from combat to digital infiltration. Zax's exocortex is implanted within his physical body or brain, similar to a piece of cybernetic hardware, allowing the AI to access his mind and feed him information. As Zax gains levels, the exocortex advances in sophistication and processing power.
Bypass (ex): Zax is skilled at getting inside computer systems and electronic devices. At first level, he gains a +1 insight bonus to Computers and Engineering checks. At 5th level and every 4 levels thereafter, and again at 20th level, this bonus increases by 1.
Custom Rig (ex): Zax has created a customized toolkit in the form of a cybernetic eye that he can use to hack systems and items. While using this rig, Zax is always considered as having the appropriate tool or basic kit for any Computers or Engineering check. Additionally, Zax can use his custom rig as a Mk I comm unit.
Combat Tracking (ex): Zax exocortex provides him with enhanced combat ability, granting proficiency with heavy armor and longarms. At 3rd level, Zax gains weapon specialization in longarms just as if his class granted proficiency. As a move action during combat, Zax can designate a foe for his exocortex to track. As long as that target is in sight, the exocortex feeds Zax telemetry, vulnerabilities, and combat tactics, allowing Zax to make attacks against that target as if his base attack bonus from his mechanic levels were equal to his mechanic level.
Memory Module (ex): Zax can use his exocortex's memory module to enhance his own knowledge. Once per day, as a reaction while not in combat, Zax can reroll a failed skill check (see page 248) to recall knowledge (see page 143). In addition, Zax's exocortex grants the Skill Focus feat as a bonus feat. Zax cannot use the exocortex's memory module while combat tracking is activated. Every time Zax gains a mechanic level, he can rebuild his exocortex's memory module, replacing the exocortex's bonus Skill Focus feat with a Skill Focus feat in a different skill.
