About Zarelon KastnerInitiative: +0
Special Qualities/Class Features: -------
Weapon and Armor Proficiency Clerics are proficient with all simple weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields). Clerics are also proficient with the favored weapon of their deities. Aura (Ex) A cleric of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful deity has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the deity’s alignment (see detect evil for details). Channel Energy (Su) Regardless of alignment, any cleric can release a wave of energy by channeling the power of her faith through her holy (or unholy) symbol. This energy can be used to cause or heal damage, depending on the type of energy channeled and the creatures targeted. A good cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships a good deity) channels positive energy and can choose to deal damage to undead creatures or to heal living creatures. An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric who worships an evil deity) channels negative energy and can choose to deal damage to living creatures or to heal undead creatures. A neutral cleric of a neutral deity (or one who is not devoted to a particular deity) must choose whether she channels positive or negative energy. Once this choice is made, it cannot be reversed. This decision also determines whether the cleric can cast spontaneous cure or inflict spells (see spontaneous casting). Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric. The amount of damage dealt or healed is equal to 1d6 points of damage plus 1d6 points of damage for every two cleric levels beyond 1st (2d6 at 3rd, 3d6 at 5th, and so on). Creatures that take damage from channeled energy receive a Will save to halve the damage. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the cleric's level + the cleric's Charisma modifier. Creatures healed by channel energy cannot exceed their maximum hit point total—all excess healing is lost. A cleric may channel energy a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. This is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. A cleric can choose whether or not to include herself in this effect. A cleric must be able to present her holy symbol to use this ability. Orisons Clerics can prepare a number of orisons, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Cleric under “Spells per day.” These spells are treated like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again. Domains Good & Nobility A cleric’s deity influences her alignment, what magic she can perform, her values, and how others see her. A cleric chooses two domains from among those belonging to her deity. A cleric can select an alignment domain (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if her alignment matches that domain. If a cleric is not devoted to a particular deity, she still selects two domains to represent her spiritual inclinations and abilities (subject to GM approval). The restriction on alignment domains still applies. Each domain grants a number of domain powers, dependent upon the level of the cleric, as well as a number of bonus spells. A cleric gains one domain spell slot for each level of cleric spell she can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a cleric can prepare one of the spells from her two domains in that slot. If a domain spell is not on the cleric spell list, a cleric can prepare it only in her domain spell slot. Domain spells cannot be used to cast spells spontaneously. In addition, a cleric gains the listed powers from both of her domains, if she is of a high enough level. Unless otherwise noted, activating a domain power is a standard action. Spontaneous Casting A good cleric (or a neutral cleric of a good deity) can channel stored spell energy into healing spells that she did not prepare ahead of time. The cleric can “lose” any prepared spell that is not an orison or domain spell in order to cast any cure spell of the same spell level or lower (a cure spell is any spell with “cure” in its name). An evil cleric (or a neutral cleric of an evil deity) can't convert prepared spells to cure spells but can convert them to inflict spells (an inflict spell is one with “inflict” in its name). A cleric who is neither good nor evil and whose deity is neither good nor evil can convert spells to either cure spells or inflict spells (player's choice). Once the player makes this choice, it cannot be reversed. This choice also determines whether the cleric channels positive or negative energy (see channel energy). Items Cleric kit (backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, candles (10), a cheap holy text, a flint and steel, an iron pot, a mess kit, rope, soap, a spell component pouch, torches (10), trail rations (3 days), and a waterskin), a current style noble outfit, a Kastner Family signet ring, a flask of holy water, cleric vestments, and a healer's kit. Combat Gear Taldor parade armor, and a well-made halberd. Wealth (9gp)
Backstory:
Zarelon Abercorn Kastner was born the third son to Donax and Blana Kastner into a life of privilege. At first, Zarelon's birth was seen as a scandal, due to his golden skin neither parent possessed. After some consulting with iomedean clerics and some family research, it was found that Zarelon was indeed an aasimar, whose celestial heritage manifested itself; and that there had been previous aasimar in both sides of the family's past. When the child was introduced in social parties, the aasimar drew a crowd of well-wishers and the curious. Eventually, as he grew, Zarelon became used to the attention, and sometimes used it to his advantage.
Many years later, Zarelon was playing a game of hide-and-seek with his brother and the nanny at the time. Due to the multi-floored Kastner mansion, excellent hiding spots were aplenty. Young Zarelon decided to use the distant attic as his hideaway. Once there, the young aasimar got bored and starting looking in the various storage boxes kept in the attic. There Zarelon found several books with pictures of a woman that also had golden skin. Zarelon thought this might be a big sister he never knew about. Time got away from the young aasimar and was eventually found by and scolded by the nanny. Having been brought down to the veranda for tea, young Zarelon asked Madam Blana about the golden woman in the book. Blana smiled, and said that Zarelon found some of her grandfather's books Blana had inherited when he died several months before Zarelon was born. Madam Kastner explained that her grandfather was an adherent to the Cult of The Just Arbiter. A religious organization dedicated to Olheon, an empyreal lady of nobility and law. After tea, with his mother's permission, Zarelon brought down all his grandfather's empyreal books. The young master spent the remainder of the day reading them, occasionally asking one of his brother's about a word he couldn't read. This is where Zarelon's fondness for empyreal studies began. Thanks to his family's connection with Oppara's religious centers, Zarelon eventually found members of the Cult of The Just Arbiter, the cell that his grandfather worked with that was still functioning. The young aasimar found many of Olheon's adherents had similar positions in Oppara society as The Kastners. Zarelon had a new circle of people to socialize with, and he would assist in their noble bloodline research. The young aasimar found a place among Olheon's faithful. Taking up the work left by his departed grandfather he never met, Zarelon was treated to many tales of his grandfather by those in the order that knew him. As he grew to late adolescence, Zarelon decided to sign the contracts and make to oath to become a cleric of Olheon.
Appearance:
Master Zarelon Kastner of House Kastner has always stood out in a crowd. It was clear when the young noble was born that he was an aasimar due to him being born with golden skin, which radiates in sunlight. The young master still possesses the golden skin; along with piercing blue eyes, and blonde hair, a mustache and modified goatee which he keeps trim in an Abadaran style.
When it comes to clothing style, Master Zarelon prefers to wear the colors of his order, blue and gold, which obviously accents his amber skin. When called to battle, the aasimar favors taldor parade armor, representing the green and blue of our glorious homeland.
Personality:
Zarelon has spent his life among the noble class, attended some of Oppara's best schools, and friends and acquaintances with his generation's elite. In conversation, Zarelon always takes the high road; complementing and suggesting rather than belittling or threatening. His studies with The Cult of the True Arbiter has taught the aasimar that great nobility can come from impoverished means, so Zarelon tries to treat everyone fairly, regardless of social standing.
In his personal life, Blana Kastner is trying to marry her youngest son off. Feeling her son's theological studies has kept him a single man for far too long, Blana nudges Zarelon into meeting available young socialites, in hope to creating a good match. The aasimar does go to the right parties, he just has not found the right woman yet. Like most of Oppara's social elite, Zarelon enjoys the latest musical piece or opera. The cleric envies those who know how to play music, but not to a negative degree. Zarelon also enjoys intellectual discussions of the day and debate. Prominent Family Members of House Kastner:
Donax Kastner - Patriarch of the Kastner Family. Donax co-owns several houses of healing within Oppara and in outskirt communities. The elder Kastner also manages several farms which help supply Oppara with much needed produce. Blana Kastner - Matriarch of the Kastner Family. Former bard in her youth, she still finds time to compose music for generous religious patrons while helping to maintain the Kastner Estate. Metus Kastner - Eldest Son of the Kastner family. As the one to inherit the most after his father's death, Metus is learning the art of business management from Donax, so the family holdings can continue unabated. His wife, Duronia, is expecting their first child soon. Jaco Kastner - Second born son of Donax and Blana. Jaco has acquired his mother's artistic flair. The young noble paints and sculpts religious iconography for various faiths. The level of research done is monumental. Jaco has many admirers, both personal and professional. Felis Strucosus, deceased - Zarelon's great-grandfather on his mother's side. He was an ardent biographer of noble and royal family lines and member of The Cult of The Just Arbiter.
